Also, Priority Pass Access, travel insurance, car rental insurance, $300 back from fee in travel and more. With the raised fee will come Door Dash, Lyft, and a few other perks. Plus it is metal ?

I too have the Sapphire Reserve and love it. One of my favorite perks is that I can combine the points with my two Chase Freedom cards creating a trifecta (Freedom 5% categories, Freedom Unlimited 1.5% everything, Sapphire 3% travel & dining). I agree with @princevaliantus that your first travel rewards card should be something a bit generic. If you want cash back, there are cards that provide that too but Sapphire allows you to redeem for travel, cash, and more. However, I wouldn't call it "garbage" but apples to apples, you do get more back from Chase; however it can be a good supplemental card. My wife isn't into cards with yearly fees and doesn't care about messing around with rewards. She has her Discover card and uses it for its 5% categories and that's about it. So, for her everyday spend, she runs around with the RCL Card and gets her 1% that we can redeem on-board spending, plus we got the 10k points for nothing.

Pre Paid Credit Cards (Seapass)
sk8erguy1978 replied to Gregg S's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I was just typing this out ... I think it's about 20%. I used a Visa Gift card to pay a portion of a cruise, subtracted 20% from balance and it worked perfectly. It's not Royal per se, just how the cards work with travel related (and other) items. You can call the number on the back of the card and ask, the right person will know the number and share. -
Login to the cruise planner to get the price for current sale. sale price / (100 - sale percentage) = non sale price. Non sale price x 2 x number of days + 18%. That price would be a great assumption of worst case. Example: $59 a day per person at 20% off for a week long cruise. $59 / .80 = $73.75. $73.75 x 2 x 7 = $1032.50 $1032.50 * .18 (18%) = $185.85 + $1032.50 = $1218.35. (That's for two). Hope this helps.

Royal poor customer care dealing with Anthem
sk8erguy1978 replied to Coach9's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Nope. It was the 6:00PM flight on March 15th, 2019 flight UA 2216. Crazy flight, changed our gate a few times too, had us running around the terminal like sheep. We deplaned because the crew said they were about to "time out" and they never got another crew. Not sure if it was United, EWR, weather or a combination. Glad to see United, EWR and Vegas runs are consistently late lol. -

Time limitations between drink orders?
sk8erguy1978 replied to Dragon66's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
True story. Friend (who just ordered a drink): what's he drinking that looks good. Bartender: labadoozie. Me: oh, that's yummy. Friend: I'll take one. Bartender: sorry, you cannot have two drinks at once. Friend: okay, chugs drink. Can I have a labadoozie. Bartender: Okay, coming right up. So, no, they don't seem to have a time limit. -

I felt the same way with Anthem's Grand Suite vs Adventure's from 2013. Adventure seemed to have a better flow. -
GTY Room Assignment "Data"

We all started at Gold! You'll get there! Even with our Balcony discount the math doesn't add up to be cheaper, but it is ... Agreed "Royal's quirks." -
GTY Room Assignment "Data"
sk8erguy1978 replied to Curt From Canada's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I've seen it too. Most recently on my upcoming September cruise. With all promos applied (except C&A status - Diamond) the "You pick your room" is slightly higher ($762 vs $755). I do everything the same again except plug in C&A number and it's now cheaper ($655 vs $680). This is for a balcony, starting price. I've attached a screenshot, two different browsers: Chromium on left with C&A plugged in & Chrome on right without C&A. -

Interesting. Assuming the same would be true with Google Pay. We enjoy picking out our room but curious enough to follow along. -
What’s to do in Bermuda in Feb?
sk8erguy1978 replied to Coach9's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Lots to do in Bermuda besides beaches. The Crystal Caves are fun. Hamilton is great for walking, shopping and history. St. George's has lots of history. There is also museums, lighthouse and more. If you're motorcycle friendly, and comfortable with British driving, rent a scooter and explore. If not, the bus and ferry system is great. Stop and talk to a local, friendliest people on the planet. Just start googling what you're into and Bermuda will have something similar. Bermuda is our favorite island. Weather looks decent, in the 70s. -

Do the Drink Packages Have an End of Cruise Statement?
sk8erguy1978 replied to Vangrizz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Last cruise I was able to get list on app, I stopped counting at 100 bar visits. -
It's personal preference I suppose. Personally, 8.5 hours of driving, I'd fly. I don't mind a road trip, but to just get somewhere (cruise terminal / home after) will feel more like a chore than adventure. Gas, tolls, food, traffic, pee breaks, ugh!

Spill your drink on the grumpy people who cannot shake the fact you're still on a cruise. Happy sailing! -

Royal poor customer care dealing with Anthem
sk8erguy1978 replied to Coach9's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
YEP! And the airline doesn't care how awful the reroute is to get you from origin to destination. I remember SW cancelled a flight out of New Orleans about 3 minutes before boarding. Our reroute was the next day, with a 3 hour layover in MCO before the flight back to ALB (Albany, NY). Know what we got for that delay ... Hotel, food, Ubers, easy $500 cost to us .... $0. LOL. -
Royal poor customer care dealing with Anthem
sk8erguy1978 replied to Coach9's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I once took a flight delayed by TWELVE hours. United screwed around from 6PM until 11PM with repeated delays, then finally pushed the flight until 6AM. At one point we boarded the plane and after sitting at the gate for about 30 minutes had to deplane (in the middle of the 6P to 11P nonsense). In the end, after an hour on the phone I received a 100 dollar credit. The letter they wrote for me to submit to insurance put blame on themselves (United) so Chase wouldn't refund me (travel delay expenses). I spent $150 or so for a last minute hotel in Newark ... For basically 3 hours. Two Ubers to and from EWR. As well as meals. So, the delay cost me probably $300 bucks and United gave me $100 and I couldn't claim the rest via travel insurance. Know what.... I wasn't mad. I still fly United. They owed me one thing. A flight to Vegas which they provided. I was happy to finally make it to Vegas for my guys weekend and obnoxiously wake up my friends. Royal only owes these passengers an apology and a refund of a service they didn't receive (a day or so missed), expecting more is exactly what's wrong with society today. -
Whiskey, Zicam, DayQuil and NyQuil, knocked out a small cold in about 3 days. As far as your kid, sounds like it's time they learn to live on their own ?
