Found one that worked really well at Walmart last summer. Briefly tested at Labadee for underwater and also good for capturing zip line footage!

Yes, you can. And Dollar Stores have some things which can make great door decorations.

We heard from those who took the class on our last sailing to go in hungry and don't book it around a meal (before/after).

How do you keep your Passport from getting lost ?
sabarwolf replied to Peter2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
In the words of Mad-Eye Moody: "Constant Vigilance!" Like most have said before; get it out when you need it, put it back right away, and lock it up in your stateroom safe. -
What's one tip or trick you use/love the most?
sabarwolf replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Reprice, reprice, reprice. ? Dollar Store Haul. Magnets for the walls in the stateroom. -
Allure is an awesome ship. Have a great time!

Our first cruise was the same itinerary, and the only place where we might have encountered mosquitoes was in the El Yunque rain forest in Puerto Rico. We didn't and never needed the bug spray we brought for the entire sailing.

Novice cruiser question re: toiletries.
sabarwolf replied to LuciaYSL's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We brought our own toiletries for our first cruise, not for any particular reason, other than having some conditioner. -
The hubby and I loved the Coaster. Zip line was awesome too. Otherwise, just the beach lounger for two. ?

Plastic pocket on a lanyard.

On our last, we just bought Dollar Store magnets. Had no problems in the checked luggage.

Cruise Compass Free Prizes/Gifts?
sabarwolf replied to VillainsGin's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We took advantage of some of the "freebie" offers during our first cruise and politely stayed for the shopping show, knowing that it would be a big sales pitch. Mainly wanted to get our mothers a nice Christmas gift from the trip. Probably wouldn't do it again, but that said, if you're looking for a cheap souvenir and not necessarily concerned about the sales show, it could be worth it. Didn't do any other raffles aboard ship. -
Hanging them right away during unpacking also seems like a good piece of advice.

Looking forward to trying Mariner next year for Halloween. ?

Freestyle machines tend to be a love/hate thing. I personally love them, but I know others prefer otherwise. Taste is a relative thing. Ultimately, don't know why cans were being given out--maybe they were updating their supplies with fresh?

We just approached one of the local travel establishments in our (former) home town. We weren't disappointed--particularly as we continued to use them after we moved (just did everything through conference calls, email, etc.).

There are also dress shirts that are made from wrinkle resistant fabric, so that may also be an option. Otherwise what everyone else has suggested.

Main things for us... USB Hub and cords Clip Magnets Extra SD card for the camera Extra medications

Escargot was one thing that I wanted to try on my cruise. ?

Yeah, the boarding time listed on your paperwork is just a suggestion. There are multiple lines for security and check in at the port and they have those lines moving fast, so you will get through quickly.

There's some great ship tour videos out there. Just search Allure of the Seas on YouTube.

Best advice for first time cruisers
sabarwolf replied to Disney's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Just got back a couple weeks ago from our first sailing on Allure. Awesome time. My advice (to echo what's been said)... Relax. Have fun. You're on vacation! Try new things! New food, new activities, etc. Be social-- cruising is a great chance to make new friends. -
My thoughts... Relax. You're on vacation. Do things that you want to in order to have fun. Get out of your food box. Try new things--particularly if you've wanted to or have been hesitant to.

We sailed on Allure a couple of weeks ago (right before Hurricane Dorian); had the three-night specialty dining package (did specialty on night 2, 3, and 7). We split breakfast in the Windjammer and Solarium Bistro. Loved doing lunch in the MDR--great selections (both a menu and buffet option). Only did MDR for dinner on a couple nights, including our second formal night. (Did first formal night for specialty dining; second formal was collared shirt and slacks.)
