  1. They are only $5 so the cost isn't a big thing to me, but you mention "extra level of safety", and i can't see the point. I have had WOW bands one time and really found them more of a hinderance than a help, every time i wanted to use it where i thought it would be a benefit (drinks poolside or in a theater) I would have to take the band off, give it to the waiter and wait for them to return; in this respect it is no different than the sea pass card, and I do not fool with them any longer.
  2. While I have been a dyed in the wool Royal fan for over 20 years, the handling of the refunds, and now the latest issue with unilaterally transferring reservations to the Liberty has definitely caused me to step back and look at the company in a different way. I am still a fan and will continue to cruise them, but the way in which I conduct my business transactions with them will most certainly be changing.
  3. I have disputed 3 cancelled sailings with AMEX, it’s a very simple process and I have all my money back within 72 hours of calling them. I gave Royal 45 days on the first but after that one I just call within a couple days of cancelling. AMEX gives a provisional credit immediately, then 48-72 hours later, after confirming a refund is due, my balance is in the negative.
  4. the price difference between a Pina Colada and a shot of rum will be negligible
  5. Same with Away, if anything goes wrong, they send you a new bag and you put the old bag in the box and they pay to ship it back-best money I've spent on luggage
  6. It is stated clearly in the OP that he received his 2020 FCC for 100% of the 2019 FCC he applied to the booking. I guess I don’t see the issue here
  7. We have been using “Away” brand hard side for years. The luggage has a lifetime warranty, we have had a couple bags over the years replaced; no questions asked, due to wobbly wheels, broken zippers, et. al.
  8. Depending on what you want to do I find it nearly impossible to believe the Royal excursion is cheaper. The pre purchased tickets for Atlantis are always cheaper than cruise line excursion, in my experience.
  9. Do yourself a HUGE favor and book Atlantis independently. You will save some money and have a MUCH better experience. Atlantis is close and easy to navigate to and from the ship. In my opinion there is nothing worse than wasting my time waiting for a bus to fill up so I can be taken 5 miles across town, when I could have grabbed a cab and been there already.
  10. Its NOT an argument, it is an international maritime requirement to have the drill at your physical location. Has nothing to do with where your lifeboat is, and everything to do with you knowing where you are to show up. Until SOLAS changes the requirement, Muster drills will not change dramatically.
  11. Moot point as no one is sailing until August at the earliest.
  12. Everything I can find on repatriation pits the amount of crew sent home to be relatively equal amongst the different lines. Carnival isn’t doing a significant deal better than RCI. The statement on countries being closed only to foreigners just isn’t true, plenty of reports of countries turning away their countrymen. the accusation that they are being kept onboard to allow for a rapid restart of hosting customers is just nonsense. If the crew members contract had concluded they couldn’t be used for customer facing activities even if RCI wanted them to.
  13. They are receiving the “Statutory Minimum Pay” from the end of their contract date until the date they are released; in accordance with international maritime law.
  14. Another negative, one sided, useless post from R Yeo. By my calculation this now account for 100% of their posts.
  15. God cursed me with “sausage fingers”, and a small touchscreen on my phone!!! ? Regardless I was obviously wrong, because no announcement thus far.
  16. This timeline isn’t quite correct. Cancellations have come: March 13 (US) March 14 (worldwide) March 24 (extended to May 11) April 16 (extended to June 11) This pattern says the next announcement will come today, May 25, after the closure of the stock market
  17. So far L&S has been a huge bust for us. The folks taking the calls appear to be incredibly overwhelmed and uninformed. We have been denied shifting 3 cruises; 2 times each. What has been published on the Royal website has not been honored in practice.
  18. And you do know 100% what is going on? Judging by this post I doubt it
  19. It’s not a hardship, they are housed, and fed, I empathize with being away from home, but a hunger strike is just ridiculous
  20. I doubt this, antibody testing is very controversial currently, and the re-infection possibilities are highly questionable
  21. I think this is the first time since all this started that I am not on the side of the crew. What a ridiculous farce, and in reality shows a lack of respect for your employer in my opinion.
  22. I believe once Royal cancels the cruise, L&S is off the table.
  23. I believe the 125% FCC offers will be going away with the introduction of L&S
  24. Pretty sure your cruise planner items get refunded and not shifted; and you will need to repurchase at prevailing rate.
