  1. Great blog! I was reading this while at work, and then this conversation with the wife happened regarding our three upcoming cruises.
  2. The beds are actually closer to a king size. When the beds are pushed together they will be 72.5 inches wide. A standard queen bed is 60 inches, where a standard king is 76 inches. like others said, you will need about an hour after the published arrival time.
  3. There is a Facebook group called “cruising ducks-original group” that you can join and it’s all about the cruising ducks trend. Some people go all out on these things. People create little passports etc that they attach to them, there are guidelines on where to hide them etc. it looks like it could be fun.
  4. Thanks for the info! We will be flying in to Hobby as well. We will need something more substantial too. With the 4 of us and luggage, a standard Uber won’t cut it. It will also be nice knowing that on disembarkation our ride will be there and waiting for the ride back to the airport.
  5. This does look like it would be great for vloggers. While I enjoy photography as a hobby I really don’t have an interest in blogging, so I will be sticking with my DSLR for now.
  6. Just signed up to be an insider. @Matt thanks for the great work that you do. I am thrilled to be a part of this community!
  7. Don’t spend your money yet! The newer model just came out. https://m.dpreview.com/news/6780284613/sony-reveals-cyber-shot-dsc-rx100-vii-super-compact-with-90-fps-bursts-and-mic-socket
  8. One device at a time. You can disconnect one to connect the other.
  9. Congratulations on Star Class. There are many great people on these blogs that have sailed star class and can provide great information. I myself have a star class cruise coming up, but based on reading others blogs, for the reception that you are talking about, that would be something that you can discuss with your Genie once they reach out. Cabin crawls are interesting I guess. I have participated in one. The “other” cruise forum (cruisecritic.com) is where you would find that. Go to the main page, then the Royal Caribbean page. You will see something about find your roll call. That’s a group forum for your particular cruise. In there you will find out if they are doing a cabin crawl. Basically it’s an informal group that walks around the ship together and checks out each others staterooms. Whether you like it or not can depend on the people you are with, and if you are okay with a bunch of strangers checking out your stateroom
  10. Have a great trip!! I love Cannes! My Aunt has a home in the old section of Le Cannet (village just north of Cannes) that I have visited a few times. The public beach there is nice. It’s too bad you aren’t there for long. One of my favorite places to visit near there is the medieval hilltop village of Eze. Great views of the Mediterranean, lots of nice shops etc. Now I am jealous and need to arrange another visit with my Aunt!
  11. I'm sailing Liberty the week before 2/16-2/23. I will report back on what we end up doing as well (considering a live blog, though I know it wont compare to yours or @twangster). We are debating uber/lyft vs some of the limo companies etc. We are a family of 4 with a 6 and 10y/o, and a wife who likes to overpack.
  12. I can attest to this. I called to check on my Oasis sailing, and my price would have gone up $300, which is the same as the OBC for suites....(not fishy at all)
  13. More cruising is never a bad thing!! Good luck and hope it all works out for you!
  14. I’m not sure if it currently there. My cruise will be there in September, and it is not an option in my cruise planner. If I remember correctly, that was located off south beach which is currently an area that is currently undergoing new renovations for the over the water south beach Cabanas and club etc. I will report back after our visit if this isn’t answered by anyone else who can confirm before I can.
  15. I will be eagerly following along here! Happy Anniversary, and have a great trip!!
  16. While I was there before it was labeled perfect day, we had a cabana on what is now called Chill Island. It was a great way to spend the day, and my daughter was living her best life chasing away the seagulls for all the other guests. Discovering all of the hermit crabs in the rock wall was also a highlight for my two kids. On an exciting note, we will be sailing on Navigator on September 23rd with a stop here, and we again have a Chill Island Cabana, and we cant wait to explore and see all of the other improvements!
  17. Outstanding! It would be fun to meet people from here. We have a 2br Aquatheater Suite since there are 6 of us on that cruie. We are really excited about this cruise (well, all of them really) but something about star class just ramps up the excitement a bit more I think.
  18. Hello all, I guess i have been remiss, and missed this part of the forums introducing myself. My name is Greg, I'm from Upstate NY. I cruise along with my wife Heather, and our two kids D10 S6. We also often travel with my sister as well. We have completed two cruises with RC, with the last one being a Sky Class suite on Anthem, and my wife has been oficially spoiled, and as such my wallet empty, because she wont let me book anything less than a suite from now on. We have three upcoming cruises, Navigator 9/23/19, thank you @twangster for your live blog, Liberty 2/16/20, and Oasis 2/21/21 which will be our first foray into Star Class, which we are so excited for. Ive read the @Lovetocruise2002 star class blog many times as well as reading and living vicariously through others while in dry dock. I am considering adding my own live blogs for our upcoming cruises, and I look forward to contributing to and lerning with this great community.
  19. Here is something that will give everyone a chuckle. It seems that Royal Caribbean isn’t the only one with IT issues, or perhaps their recently released beverage package intern got hired by Amazon just in time for prime day. Amazon Prime Day pricing glitch meant people bought thousands of dollars' worth of camera gear for $94.50 https://bit.ly/2Gj9QsV
  20. It is my understanding that you need a reservation. There isnt an actual bar in the specialty restaurants that you can go to and grab a drink from and take it elsewhere.
  21. I have always used a drink package. There is some great info here to help you decide if its worth it to you. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/royal-caribbean-drink-package
  22. I have always purchased the surf and stream package. The value gets a little better when you have multiple devices. As far as streaming to your stateroom TV, I believe you are not able to do that, but there are movies you can watch on their own service. I have not tried attaching a firestick so I can’t answer that for you. The speed is decent to where you can watch Netflix etc, but expect some buffering at times. I believe some ships have newer technology than others and may be faster, but I’m not 100% sure on the numbers. I believe @twangster has some speed test data on another post. as was stated, put your phone in airplane mode. Use WiFi.
