  1. awfull generous of royal pre-covid the few stops we missed for any reason the most you could hope for was a little token OBC maybe. We missed our port of call last week at Costa Maya due to weather and all we got was another Sea Day (not a complaint just a report)
  2. +1 for Michelle that has stayed. BTW love being right across the street from the Polynesian it is beautiful property and so convienient
  3. I whole heartedly agree with that reason. Personally I would not set foot outside a US teritory (to be honest I would not even leave the continental US (CONUS) with out a valid pasport) without a valid passport. Yes you can go to an embasy and get a temp and there are other ways, but nothing TRUMPs a good old passport. I not only helped manage my childerns passports up until the last renewal at age 26-28ish, which make them good for 10 more years, I told them if money is the issue I would pay for renewals, they just have to manage the timing.
  4. Guess you have to determine how bad you want a stressless boarding process and to ensure you can get on the ship for your cruise.
  5. the staff includes the food service manager who has at least some control over it. Anytime i have ever provided a low raating the survey software they use asked me to provide a reasoon for that rating, that is where I get to tell them the rating was low because they went back to self serve at the buffet. About the only way I know that I can comment on my displeasure with this change, so I will continue to use it
  6. I would think so, how rude that would be.
  7. On Liberty right now, and all the stuff people complain about at self serve all already evident by day 3. Hard to understand because every person I spoke with at the Top Tier event yesterday thought they should go back to crew serving. It is not any quicker at self serve like some say, I know as I was on last week also, both sailings relatively saame number of guests, just more kids this week. It is actually slower, more milling around and more picking through dishes. No additional single servings that were ever there in the past. No addtions roaming servers or table cleaners than last week. Will it stop me sailing, NO, will they get low marks on their survey for windjammer, Every sailing from now on.
  8. They also add the 18% gratuity to the posted drink cost, that also goes against the gift card, just like all other drinks on board that you pay for individually
  9. seems that a lot of the proctors are not even in the USA so in another time zone anyway. One test per call, so if you want to do 3 tests at basically the same time, 3 phones is the answer
  10. that's been my experience also, and if they have 10 drinks cards, which in my experience is rare, it is usually the last 2 days of a 7 day cruise
  11. each location has a number of positives and each has a different experience. Some of what I like about Labadee is the many walking paths that take you up to the old "Ocean View Spa" ruins. A must do is to go out to "Dragons Breath Lookout Point" to both listen to "Dragons Breath" and to watch the waves crash in between the rocks, If your lucky one will wet your feet while your still on the path. You can also with luck feel the salt spray in your face. These beautiful mostly shaded paths are a nice break in the middle or as an end to what is a relaxing and enjoyable beach day. Love visiting Labadee
  12. I'm jealous and not afraid to say it. must have been the highlight of your cruise
  13. I think we found the winner. Nothing more is going away and if anything some of the CRAP comes back. I survived 6 cruises masked, in 12 days to my first unmasked, hopefully unmasked, since restart. Just don't shut us down again!
  14. my experience is the quality is very dependent upon where you are in the ship at the time you are using the service we have had better service in windjammer than in our cabins and some other areas. just also more of a crowd. scout out locations before your use time.
  15. yes i had to delete mine also. Even reading other responses mine is even IPsec rather than SSL. kinda stinks because this is one place I really want that extra protection for my communication. I will experiment a little more in less than 2 weeks on my next sailing. Has anyone else noticed the dramatic increase in price, pre-cruise price is almost the same as the on-board prices reflected in recent Cruise Compass's
  16. @twangster Thank You. You are always a wealth of information and your sharing it is much appreciated Also isn't Taino Bay port atPuerto Plata a fairly new port of call for cruise ships that just opened in December of this year?
  17. almost, some websites are actually blocked (think how communist countries control your access - same principle - just not sure what all sites are blocked) Also they seem to be able to detect VPN use and block that also, or at least that's my experience. But as stated you should be able to connect with What's app and Facetime (we facetime grand kids a lot - trick is to find a area on-board with great connectivity)
  18. unless your in a Cabana, best to use air pods or headphones
  19. I just purchased the UDP for a Dec 2022 cruise today and the gratuity was already included in the advertised price on the web page. I did note that this cruise used the old style cruise planner web page not the newer style one
  20. yes here also, Maya Chan is one of the best things to do in Costa Maya, price was reasonable and the service was Fantastic. I hope the shut down is just temporary to take care of something they need to do.
  21. plus if you are tipping well your vouchers don't always get hit, just my experiance. Yes it depends on the ship and the bar tender you use
  22. any revenue on unsold cabin increases the bottom line Good for you!
  23. agree no trash anywhere on the facility end of February 2022
  24. We were also on HM on 20 Feb cruise and were told they do not travel Lobster into CK, first time in 5 other times eating in CK that we could not have the lobster brought in from MDR. I first thought it was because night 6 we were at Perfect day so the MDR moved lobster to night 7. Us and another couple went to MDR although 30 minutes late for early seating, we ask the Maître D if he could squeeze us in for lobster. He did, and it worked out great. 6 My fall back was to go back to my CLS cabin and order 8 meals delivered to the room. Seems odd that they don't just offer that as an option in CK when i know numerous folks ask for it. But then again after 6 cruises eating exclusively in CK when in suites, I now find that some nights I'd just as soon have a MDR meal, it just the atmosphere is so much better in Oasis class CK than in MDR. Oh the first world problems we face.
