Vancity Cruiser reacted to Traveling Mike in Lackluster West Coast Itineraries
I have lived in California for 65 years and I am OK with those cruises for now. I have done 8 Mexican Rivera and 10 to 15 to Ensenada. I really like the idea of the 5 or 6 day to Cabo and spend two days. I hope they will expand the cruises and do some 7 or 8 days into the Golf of California. I would also like to see some 10 day trips to Acapulco, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

Not the cruise industry in general. Some other lines (not all) still offer the more traditional cruising vibe. Personally I feel that Royal's direction is successfully filling a needed role to expand the industry, and their results speak for themselves. I personally have gone from cruising about 90% Royal to 25% Royal because as I age I prefer a more laid back vibe while cruising. I continue to maintain though that Royals entertainment (shows) is unmatched and that is what keeps me coming back at all.

I'm pretty sure Royal Caribbean has conditioned me to expect exorbitant prices because the pricing seems relatively reasonable, especially if you get one of the $200/$150 days. I'm glad that they included a non-alcoholic option for those who don't drink much or at all. Excited to see what it looks like when it's completed and what the food options are

I think the pricing is spot on. If those are the prices for a holiday cruise that isn't bad considering holiday cruises always cost more. We don't have a cruise in December and our January 2026 cruise is to the Southern Caribbean and won't be stopping at Nassau, I can't wait to visit Royal's Beach Club.
I don't need cabana's and all that other fluff all I need is a beach chair, an umbrella, the sand between my toes and a drink in my hand and I'm good. The fact that it comes with dinning, transportation, and wifi is just awesome. If the holiday cruise is $169.00 per person for the day pass w/drinks and food I'd imagine non-holiday cruises prices would probably range depending on the season and time of year between $139.00 - $159.00 which is right in line with what you'd pay at other beach clubs. Since pricing is dynamic you might pay more during spring break if demand is through the roof so I could see pricing hitting $200 per person if demand warrants. But the key here is like everything else in the cruise industry book early before dynamic pricing kicks in. These beach clubs obviously can't accommodate everyone on an Oasis/Icon Class ship so as space or slots runs out prices go up.

You are thinking in terms of ships, Royal is thinking in terms of berths. Like it or not, scale of economy is Royal's direction.

Oh I know...its not you, it's me...It's just everyone I talk to says " Oh you do cruises? You should do an Alaskan cruise."
No thank you, I was born and raised in Michigan, I lived for over a decade in the PNW. There is no way I would pay thousands of dollars to go to a place where I have seen the scenery and be cold and miserable for over a week (counting the day before and after the cruise).
I like sunny hot beaches and warm gentle waves on a beach chair with a little flag so I can raise it to have the attendant bring me a cool adult beverage. With little children interruptions.
I love Royal and I pick my cruise times very carefully to avoid most children available cruise dates. I love going on the "family" cruise ships as there are so may things to do it spreads them out so that there is little interaction. That said if there is a chance that "oh we are bringing them in to the adult only areas, then no thanks. What's next let them in the casino?

Vancity Cruiser reacted to WAYNO in Would You Cruise from Seattle or Vancouver for a Long Weekend?
One of my favorite cruises ever, was with Royal, Seattle/Astoria/San Francisco/Victoria/Seattle.
San Francisco could be dropped from this itinerary and we could have a very nice long-weekend cruise to Astoria and Victoria. 😍

Yes I would! 100%. With the fleet growing fleet I keep waiting for a cold weather ship to be based out of Seattle year round.

Some of us live up here and are not spoiled by year-round nice weather.
I guess only a Northwesterner would understand watching a storm from the warmth of a cruise ship.😍

?I'm really surprised that PLAYMAKERS is not listed among the new additions especially for Ovation. This Quantum class ship has a space above the SeaPlex that is not hardly used. That location on sister ship, Odyssey, has a great Playmakers with spectacular views!
