  1. I haven’t personally (55 more days) but I know Some Canadians have been sailing and I haven’t heard of any issues with their proof of vaccine. I assume the cruise lines understand they would look different when issued by a different country.
  2. If you struggle with flexibility you should be rethinking your plan. Anyone with a cruise booked or thinking of booking a cruise for at least the next year yet should be prepared for things to change. From ports of calls to requirements to processes the industry is going to be very fluid for at least a year yet. If you are looking for a vacation where you are certain things aren’t going to change you should be looking for a land based vacation (I.e. resorts or hotels) where your chance of contacting covid is much higher but ignored by the media.
  3. CAN WE PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT EVERY CASE OF COVID FOUND ON A CRUISE SHIP ON THIS FORUM its bad enough the media has to do it
  4. Don’t they already have different rules for ships sailing from different states?
  5. It’s working for Carnival who will have the most ships sailing so I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s the reality of the industry right now. Carnival denies unvaxed after all final payments are in so I don’t think they are too worried about long term damage to their brand. I think Royal having a few ships designated to be 95% vaccinated is a great idea.
  6. I really hope this is not 5 adults. You will NOT be comfortable.
  7. An excellent point. I never thought about it but it makes a ton of sense. I'm sure there is some reason for it. Perhaps durability of murphy beds and the costs associated with maintenance and replacement?
  8. We were able to check in for our Sept 24 sailing on Ovation which hasn’t had her test sailing yet.
  9. I would be very surprised if cruise lines deviate at all from their current plans until a firm ruling is in place and all appeals have been exhausted.
  10. So I was able to get. Booked an excursion at a big discount for my next cruise. 5 minutes later I tried to get in to check on another cruise and it won't open at all. So frustrating.
  11. I'm booked to sail out a Seattle in September. I just booked last week when it looked like the borders were opening up. Same for me it makes no sense to fly from Vancouver to Seattle. If the US doesn't open the border I'll be taking a refund and heading to an all inclusive in Mexico instead.
  12. @Lovetocruise2002you are still able to fly to the US if it works for your situation. Not sure where you are located and where you are sailing from. I know Don Terris from Don’s family vacations is travelling from Ottawa to Florida to board the Edge on Saturday.
  13. What a pile of BS! The US was putting pressure on Canada to open their borders to US citizens and then doesn’t open their own border? And again, there is nothing stopping Canadians from flying into the US. Makes absolutely no sense.
  14. That may have been an extra they paid for as it went out over the side of the ship as well. Apparently when @twangster paid for the extra charge in Alaska it went over the side as well. So maybe free to go up and down, extra charge for a full ride out over the side of the ship?
  15. The fact the CDC has so much control over the cruise industry could end up being a positive thing if things take a turn for the worse in the US. A cruise ship could be the safest place to be. Where else can you guarantee 90+ percent of people in an area are vaccinated?
  16. Thanks! That makes sense why I saw some videos of them mentioning a charge.
  17. Going on Ovation in September, first time on a quantum class. I was under the impression that things like ifly and northstar were included but watching some you tube videos it is sometimes mentioned there is a cost associated. Can anyone who has sailed Quantum class verify?
  18. I wonder how may people get incorrectly charged for them like Biff215 but don't review their folio closely and just pay..........
  19. Unfortunately this still seems to center around air travel. No mention of land border crossings, or reciprocal action by the US for Canadians coming to the US. I know Canadians have been able to fly into the US for some time, however, as someone who lives a 20 minute drive from the border I’d like to see more action (or info) on reopening the land crossings.
  20. Anything happening right now will have any effect on a cruise 9 months from now. North American cruises have been happening for only 1 month now and policies and procedures have been changing weekly if not daily. I wouldn’t worry about it to much. As a fellow Canadian I have a cruise out of Seattle in 2 months and I fully expect things to change many times between now and then, never mind next April.
  21. Royal already has their plans in place for ships coming back online over the next several months. Nothing is going to change that as crew training, supply chains and itineraries all need to be put in place. As someone who is a master Scheduler by profession I have been watching with fascination at how quickly Royal has been able to get ships back online. I know to most the restart seems glacially slow but with the amount of detail need to start (restart) each single ship into operation it is incredibly impressive at what they have been able to do.
  22. I reiterate how absurd it is that you would only allow the most unsanitary form of travel across borders to happen but not allow people to travel in their 'bubbles'(personal vehicle). I cringe at the mental intellect of those making these decisions.
  23. I am in Canada and had on opportunity to get my first dose Astra Zeneca much earlier than Pfizer or Moderna. I was torn because I really wanted to get vaccinated but was hesitant because Astra wasn't approved in US and my motivation was to go cruising and I worried it wouldn't be accepted. I decided to wait and am now fully vaccinated with 2 doses of Pfizer. Glad I dodged that bullet. I feel bad for my fellow Canadians who were just trying to do their part to raise vaccination rates and may now be facing this problem.
