  1. Interesting. That’s what NC had when I was in law school (and still may). Back in the ‘80s, in NC the standard was that any degree of contributory negligence meant no collection for the plaintiff (unless the defendant had the “last clear chance” to avoid the accident. I can’t see how that applies here but there almost has to be a bit of contributory negligence. However, does Puerto Rico law or Florida law control? I think Florida is a comparative negligence state.
  2. Is Puerto Rico a comparative negligence jurisdiction or a contributory negligence jurisdiction?
  3. I stayed in a Grand suite on Harmony in August and loved it. We ate primarily in the Coastal Kitchen (the suites restaurant) which we thought was very good. We did not feel the need to go to any specialty restaurants. You also have access to the suite lounge, which serves a limited selection of beer and wine from 11 am to 11 pm and a limited selection of liquor from 5 to 7 at no cost. Depending upon your habits, you may not need the DBP if you are in a GS. We did have the DBP because we wanted to sample all the different bars on the ship.
  4. Not sure of your age and would never ask. I seriously doubt that you are as old as my mom was when she had her knee replacement. She was 84 and did beautifully! We all thought she was crazy to do it at that age-we we’re wrong. She is now 90 and her knee does not bother her. She recovered well. I hope that you also recover quickly and enjoy years of pain free walking on your new knee. Thoughts and prayers are with you!
  5. If the day is clear and you have extra time, you may also enjoy the Mount Roberts Tramway. I would not pre-book, but it was a fun "add on" to our day in Juneau.
  6. Have a wonderful time! I know exactly what you mean about vacations with kids-it is a change of scenery, not a true vacation. I will say that I did not particularly enjoy the first cruise we took, but now I find it to be the most relaxing type of vacation. I hope that you find the same!
  7. Food quality is equal. I like the combination of specialty quality food with a consistent serving team. Best of MDR traditional experience with specialty restaurant food.
  8. There are several very good travel hair dryers on the market in the $20-30 price range. I have one that is as powerful as my full size one. I googled and read reviews and bought one that was highly recommended by several people. It had 1870 watts and ionic and ceramics.
  9. All suites have been showing sold out on my sailing since before I placed my bid so don’t lose hope.
  10. I am sailing on March 1, so I got my acceptance with 17 days to go. On this and other boards, I have seen people get accepted as early as 45 days out and as late as 24 hours out. As far as I can tell, it is random. Best of luck. I was happy with what I had and to me, the randomness was sort of fun. I enjoyed checking every now and then to see if anything had changed. I used the theory that "you can't win if you don't enter". As far as randomness of room location, I think most of the categories you mention are in good locations. I am not sure how we will like having the handicapped bathrooms (we got an accessible suite-which I feel a little guilty about) , but I know we will enjoy the extra space in our suite. We also have an elevator, which I find amusing because I positively hate elevators and go out of my way to take stairs whenever possible.

  12. I don't remember what i ordered, but it was so bad, I could not finish it. Luckily, I had the drink package.
  13. Wow-I am a little confused about how a loft can be accessible though!
  14. I assume this means that it was found! Great News! Thanks for the update.
  15. Our muster station is G1-the Aqua Theater. At least it's March, not August! Hopefully, it will not be too hot or too rainy! On the other hand, at least there should be seating. We had muster on the promenade on Harmony in August, and it was a crowded mess! Wall to wall people-very chaotic. There is one other downside-I used the stairs on Harmony to justify all that I ate! With the lounge right next door, not sure what I will do!
  16. As promised, here is the update. I have changed my bids a couple of times and ended up with a minimum bid on the Star Loft suite and slightly above minimum bid on the Aqua Theater 2 bedroom and the Crown Loft suite. I checked the status about an hour ago and found that both the Star Loft and the Aqua Theater had expired, and the Crown Loft was pending. I was unable to modify the pending bid however. I tried because I was curious. They were in the process of upgrading me!!! We are now in a Crown Loft suite. I am very excited. I was thrilled to be in a GS, and now I am extra excited. For those wondering, the minimum bid was $300 pp and I bid $400 pp, which registered in the lowest part of the weak scale. This is my third RC sailing and my second Sky Class. This will be my husband's second RC sailing, and he has never been on an Oasis class ship or in a suite. He knows we are in a GS, but not about the upgrade. It will be a nice surprise. We are in 1742. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
  17. Before I sailed on Harmony in Sky class, I had the same issue. I am not a blogger, but I did write a synopsis of our trip.
  18. Hamburg is beautiful. We did not do an excursion-we just walked around the older part of the city. The port is a little removed from the city, but there is a water taxi nearby (that sadly was not operational when we were there). We had a great lunch at a beer place with a deck overlooking the river. After that, we hopped on the train and rode the loop. Some of it was underground, but most was not and it was a great way to see a lot of different aspects of the city.
  19. If you have a credit card that includes access to the Priority Pass lounges, make sure you activate it. They have nice locations all over Heathrow and plenty of food.
  20. Central Park is a beautiful and romantic place. Make sure you take a nighttime stroll through there.
  21. I have never asked about CFAR. You don't get any OBC, but you 3 points per dollar spent on any travel, including dining out. If you use the points through their web site, you get a 25% bump up. You can also transfer the points to travel partners, but I have never done that. I did pay for the airline tickets for our cruise in 19 days (not that I'm counting or anything) with the points. American is about the only option flying out of Charlotte and you cannot transfer the Chase points to them. I think I came out ahead, though, because I could pick the times I wanted and got the extra 25% value. They reimburse delayed luggage after 3 hours which worked out well when our son's bag was delayed flying in for our daughter's wedding. He was able to grab some clothes for the rehearsal dinner.
  22. Plus one for Chase Sapphire Reserve. The annual fee is high, but it pays for itself when you consider that you get $300 in statement credit each year for travel. It also has wonderful travel insurance and great customer service.
  23. We had the opposite experience. We booked two inside guarantees with our adult children. We did not care whether or not they were close. Our cabins were assigned at final payment and were side ny side. We even got a slight upgrade: virtual balconies. It was random but it did work for us.
  24. And me. Oasis March 1. Excited for everyone traveling in February. Hope you have blue skies and calm seas.
  25. I have sailed Navigator and Harmony. I loved them both. I prefer the Oasis class, but I did not feel like 7 days was near enough to experience the Oasis class. For 4 days, you may enjoy Navigator's size more. If you like it, Oasis would be a great family ship-you can bring the kids along for 7 days later.
