  1. I have sailed Oasis Sky class twice and have purchased the beverage both times. I do not generally drink anything but beer and wine, and while I am not a wine snob, I find the wine available in the suite lounge to be lacking. They have a good wine list, but the ones offered at no charge are not great.
  2. Just think of all the cruises you can book with the salary increase and huge signing bonus when the year is over!
  3. I'm hoping that RC will follow its sister brand Celebrity and continue the double points into the early part of 2022.
  4. Awesome! Thanks everyone! I am getting excited-only 450 or so days to go!
  5. Thank you. I decided upon an 8 day Eastern cruise on the Allure with the following itinerary: Day 1 - Fort Lauderdale, Florida Day 2 - Cruising Day 3 - Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Day 4 - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Day 5 - Philipsburg, St. Maarten Day 6 - Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis Day 7 - 8 - Cruising Day 9 - Fort Lauderdale, Florida Phillipsburg is the only repeat port for me on this one, and it looks like it goes well below the Bahamas.
  6. Being a geographically challenged person, I love this idea. I'm so challenged in this area, that I have no idea where to find online maps. Also, do you use an online atlas type map? Your post has set a goal for me: I will try to use your ideas to develop an awareness of what I am sailing past, rather using guesswork, as has been my habit. Of course, the operative word here is TRY. Thank you.
  7. Is there any where on Royal's web site that shows a map of the route the ship takes, as opposed to the list of ports? I am planning to book a Caribbean cruise in January of 2022, and I want to make sure it goes far enough south. I do not find Nassau warm enough for me in March and know that I won't like it in January. I know I can look at a globe, but that takes a lot of effort. Thanks.
  8. Keep checking for price drops-with Sale with Confidence, you can reprice up until a few days before departure. If others feel like you do, you may some significant money. I am the opposite. I have a sailing on Allure booked for January 2022 and I am hoping she will not be amped by then. I want a chance to experience the original feel of an Oasis class ship. I also really want to try the Champagne bar-they seem to be disappearing across the fleet as ships are amped.
  9. I'd like to piggy back on this. I will be with a group of friends on Serenade in late August (at least I hope so). There are 3 specialty restaurants. The three night package is $79 and unlimited is $154. For several reasons, we decided that the Key is a good fit for our group ( I know this is controversial, but it works for us). We do have several non-port days, and we are not thrilled with buffets, even more so now, so we will probably do lunch when possible. Having said all that, with only three restaurants, does the unlimited plan make sense? Thanks!
  10. We use Sharla from MEI and she has been awesome about finding and taking advantage of rate drops prior to final payment. She has saved me thousands of dollars this way.
  11. You may want to check out long term Airbnb options. We were planning to downsize (put on hold when youngest came back home due to college closure and online classes-we're glad to still have plenty of space for all of us to work/learn from home) and were told the market is really intense in our area. We wanted to sell first and our realtor said that Airbnb properties are really affordable right now for long term (3-6 months) rentals because so few people are traveling. The advantage is you only have to move your furniture to storage, then to your new home, and at least here in Charlotte, 2-3 bedroom Airbnbs are way less expensive than 2 bedroom apartments.
  12. I really like Chase Sapphire. Lyft's premium service (pink, I think) is included with the card, as is some credit for Lyft. Also, during Covid, they have changed their reward system slightly have given 5 points per dollar on grocery store purchases. In addition, right now, you can use points to pay for certain categories on the card and you get a bonus for that. Math is not my thing, but it works out that points are worth about 25% more when you use them to pay qualified categories on your statement. That's a big benefit right now, when we aren't traveling. I have used their lost luggage coverage, and it is fabulous. My son's luggage was over 5 hours late, and he got a $100 to spend on clothes. The amount goes up the longer the delay.
  13. I hope this works for all of you. I think I was one of the last to be able to enjoy the "intern special" at $18. We sailed March 1 on Oasis. I don't currently have anything booked, but I am looking and dreaming. I need something to anticipate.
  14. I have done a GS on deck 7 and a CLS on deck 17. I am in the minority that prefers being on the lower deck. When I was on 17, I felt isolated from the rest of the ship. When my suite was closer to the rest of the ship, I felt more a part of things and experienced a lot more of what the ship offers. It is easy to just stay on 17, and you miss a lot that way.
  15. Keep checking for appointments. Mine and my husband’s were months out but I checked the web site every few days. One night I found appointments for both of us the next day. Same thing happened with my daughter.
  16. I use MEI! I was just trying to get some information without bothering Sharla because I know she's swamped right now.
  17. Thank you. You are correct. I should have said FCC, not refund. I do not expect a refund for either, a FCC and a Future Air credit, perhaps?
  18. I searched the site but did not find the answer to my question. I really want something to look forward to and would like to book a cruise for this fall. I like the fact that we can cancel up to 48 hours prior to cruise-it makes me more comfortable on two levels: will it be safe to cruise and will our finances recover as well as we anticipate once the economy opens back up. If we book air fare with the air to sea program, will that also be refunded? Please know that I am truly not trying to game the system. We really want to take a trip this fall, but my husband is self employed and has taken a hit this spring (as almost everyone has)-we are optimistic that things will be fine by mid-summer, but there are lots of uncertainties. I am also looking at a college graduation trip to Europe for next summer for my youngest and have the same concerns re: travel and air fare for that trip-not so much finances but whether travel will be allowed. As always, thanks.
  19. Glad to hear you’re doing well. I’ve been thinking about you
  20. We are sailing on Oasis tomorrow. Got our email Monday morning, 6 days in advance. I sent our reservation requests later that morning and got a confirmation that evening.
  21. We’re sailing with you too! So excited. Sitting in airport waiting to board flight to Miami
  22. Good morning, all. My DH and I leave Sunday on the Oasis of the Seas. We are very excited! I sailed in a GS on Harmony with a friend in August and it was wonderful! DH has never been on an Oasis class ship or in a suite. I bid through Royal Up and won with a slightly above minimum bid (still on the lowest part of the weak scale) a Crown Loft suite. I think DH is going to be in shock-I haven't told him. We have the $18 DBP-thank you intern. We do not have the UDP and have not made any specialty reservations. I really like CK, and we plan to eat there every evening. Having said all that, I am a boring person and won't be taking a computer with me, so I will not be blogging. But if anyone has any particular questions, let me know, and I will do my best to find the answers. When I return, I will certainly give my impressions on the difference in experience in a loft vs. a GS.
  23. I think you should stay on board-better yet, spend tomorrow night in Miami and hop over to spend the week with me and my husband on Oasis!
