  1. In my case: Zazzle.com at $9.99. Other cruise designs available. 6X4 inches.
  2. We have gotten away from lots of stuff on the door for something a little more low key.
  3. They're looking for input for what to do with/ and offer guests at Grand Lucayan.
  4. We were on this cruise last week, no checks of passports or checks of any other kind at Saint John and Halifax, just get off the ship and have fun.
  5. If you have a favorite different NFL team be sure all of you pack & wear plenty of their logo shirts, etc. Let em' know they're not the only ones on board!?
  6. Wasn't a dumb question, more people should check in advance, and .....that and anything like it are prohibited.
  7. I had a chat with our head server last year on Anthem about this. He didn't exactly ask for a high rating, just for us to complete the survey truthfully. But he did tell me that after a number of consistent high ratings there is a reward. They get a day off. And to them that's like a treasure chest of gold.
  8. So, what if you're a widow with youngsters? Need a death certificate for dad? I know this sounds dumb but it fits the profile.
  9. Don't know if that's necessary. Guest Services and Excursion Desk were side by side on the ship and they both got an ear full.
  10. You will note on your Cruise Compass that the dinner attire given is "suggested".
  11. The Chocolate Bar that was set up on final cruise day. Deadly.
  12. Last week on "formal" night I wore my usual: Button down lightweight light blue shirt, nautical themed thrift shop tie, khakis and boat shoes. The wife looks great in whatever she wears so that is easy for her. I was one of the best dressed along with those half a dozen or so who had on a suit or sportcoat. What was weird was this combo: Shorts with a polo shirt, or long pants with a t-shirt. But no shorts with a t-shirt. Bottom line: Adventure OTS deems jeans and an AC/DC t -shirt to be formal wear. Plus it's only a "suggested" dress code anyway.
  13. I was already surprised that these monsters were sailing in there to begin with and didn't think it was a very good idea.
  14. You must have the magic touch!? And thanks for spelling Navigator properly.
  15. We cruised with Dennis last year on the Anthem. @Joe01 pretty much sums him up, we might have enjoyed him just a little bit more. He also seemed to be everywhere, all the time.
  16. Yeah, Chris is likeable and funny, Cian is a bundle of Irish Energy who does not seem to sleep much yet is always wound up.
  17. The more vegan dishes and options the better. It leaves more meat for the rest of us.?
  18. July 1, 2020 Adventure Of The Seas 9 Day Bermuda & Caribbean
  19. 6 night. Sail, sea, Bar Harbor, Saint John, Halifax, sea, in that order. And yes @Skid staff was excellent.
  20. #1: The comedians will mock you for flying to the US, taking a cruise to Canada and then flying back to Canada from the US? Anyway, yes we always book excursions through the cruise line. So easy to do on the Cruise Planner. We no longer have our youthful stamina and the wife can't walk very long so we have to take the mild ones. In Bar Harbor we took the Scenic Bar Harbor/Cadillac Mountain tour (Its on a small bus}. Driver gives you a rundown on the historic sites and points of interest as you go through town. If you have vertigo forgo this trip, it winds around the mountain to the top and the drop offs are steep as hell. Worth the trip when you get there. Fantastic view of the harbor and the Adventure. Walked a little bit in town, had Lobster Ice Cream at Ben and Bills Emporium. Bought too many souvenirs for the grandkids. In Saint John took a similar excursion, St. John Scenic Trolley Tour. Took us all over town and let us off at the Saint John River Reversing Falls where the river flows backwards when the tide comes in from the Bay of Fundy. Got dropped off at the City Market. Bought too many souvenirs for the grandkids. In Fairfax we took the Essential Halifax On and Off Double Decker Bus thingy. I trashed it a little in the Excursions section. However the stops we got off on included the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which had a bunch of Titanic and Halifax Explosion exhibits and artifacts, and the Citadel of Halifax, a very old British Military Post. Don't go here if you hate bagpipes because you'll hear them quite a bit as they march around, in period military uniforms, playing the pipes and banging drums for your entertainment. I loved it. Great exhibits in the buildings. The have a shop where we spent......Well, you know. I took this photo of the Adventure from atop Cadillac Mountain.
  21. No whales sorry to say, guess I missed them because I overheard some fellow cruisers talking about the ones they saw.
  22. Ok, here goes. We booked the "Essentials of Halifax" tour. It was a tour of the city on old London double decker busses that looked cute, with a variety of stops. You get on a bus and get off at any of the number of stops and then get back on the next one. Now....this is not the fault of Royal but the tour operators. We were warned that the waits at each stop could be up to 15-20 minutes so plan accordingly. What they don't tell you is you may not get on the next bus.. Or the one after that. Or the one after that. (This tour was extremely oversold.) So, we are patiently waiting at one stop in a nice line chatting with others. The bus that arrived is obviously pretty loaded. We start to get onboard when a man comes up, PUSHES an older woman out of the way as she is getting on, then puts up his arm like a barricade and let's nobody in the line on the bus but stands there so 16 people in his family/group can come along the side of the bus and get on. I guess we wait for the next one. People can be asses, I know that, but my problem is that the bus driver and the tour guide just stood there and did nothing at all. I thought they were in charge of loading and unloading their bus, not Mr. Barricade Arm. So, wait for the next one. Again. So away we finally go headed back to ship a little tired from the stops we got off at, etc. when we notice a smell that is a cross between sulfur and burnt cornbread. Anybody who has been driving since standard transmission days recognized it: the clutch is burned out. Yep, couple of stops left before ship and we are in a dead bus. We are told a rescue bus is on the way but if we want we can walk back to the ship, it's only a 35-40 minute walk. I Don't think so. We waited for the rescue bus. While headed back to the ship on the rescue bus I was sure I smelled sulfur and burnt cornbread again. The tour we planned to last 4 hours lasted 7.
  23. Returned yesterday from the New England/Canada cruise on Adventure. Total wait time at Cape Liberty terminal was about a half hour between entering and boarding. Went right to the Windjammer for lunch. Everything was good, much like it is on Anthem just a little smaller. Had 2 hours till cabin access so we went to the Lyric Theater to kill time. Saw Dumbo. Cabin was found to be clean, plenty of room for 2 (Spacious Ocean View Balcony). Asked for some ice, cabin attendant (Ajay) kept us in ice the whole cruise. Food in MDR was excellent. No complaints. Ate there 5 days, actually went to Windjammer on the last night as I knew they were having "Seafood Extravaganza" and American fare. Overdosed on seafood. All the ports were great, tendering at Bar Harbor was quick and painless. Saint John and Halifax are fabulous places to visit too. Most of our excursions were as advertised and worth the cost. Except one. I will cover that in that section of the blog.Onboard entertainment was well done. Shows by the ships singers and dancers were great. Nice ice skating show. A Journey cover band named DSB was the best I've ever seen. They were spot on. So many people at the 7 o'clock show came back to the 9 o'clock show that it was SRO! There were 2 hilarious comedians with both family and late night adult shows. 3 movies were rotating between the poolside screen and the theater. Dumbo, Return of Mary Poppins and Creed II. LOTS of trivia and karaoke going on in the lounges. We were blessed to have perfect weather, hardly a cloud in the sky with temps in the upper 70's. Our total wait time to disembark was about 15 minutes ( it was well organized). All in all it exceeded our expectations. And we are known as being hard to please.
