  1. DAY 6: Sea Day Bottomless Galley Brunch Note: Only the drinks, champagne and fruit punch, are bottomless. The brunch is pick one option per course - appetizer, main course, dessert. The guy at the table next to mine asked for a second main course, he was told he would be charged for it. This package should be renamed, “Bottomless Drinks Galley Brunch” Sorry, I was too hungry to take a picture of the Filet Mignon ?
  2. I’ve always had satisfactory experiences with the ships’ WiFi services since I started cruising with Royal in 2017. I have been able to stream videos and the worst complaint I could think of is a few seconds of buffering at times. I’m on the Empress right now and I’ve been able to stream videos on Disney+
  3. CRUISING TIP: Using a Pullman bed with magnetic hooks for organization.
  4. I don’t think I can be a good judge of what a good authentic taco is. The only tacos I’ve had are the “Americanized” ones. All I could say is that I liked it.
  5. DAY 5 Dining: Caribbean Theme I see how easy it is for the crew to confuse the Caribbean with Polynesia. I praised my assistant waiter because his shirt had a map of the Caribbean islands. But wait, what exactly do you wear on Caribbean theme night?
  6. DAY 5: Costa Maya No excursions for me today. Just sampled some tacos from “Don Lolo”. I hope they were authentic... ha ha
  7. DAY 4: COZUMEL Chichén Itzá Excursion Pyramid of Kukulkan Our guide, Rafa, used up the time talking about Mayan history and culture. The Math geek in me came out when he talked about the “Base 20” Mayan number system. The talk was interesting but it took away our time to explore the site on our own and shop for souvenirs. Lunch and snacks provided with the package.
  8. STATEROOM TV MOVIE: “Poseidon Adventure” Some months ago I made a joke about showing “Poseidon Adventure” and other maritime disaster movies on the stateroom TV. I can’t believe they’re showing it right now.
  9. After six Sushi Making Classes on six Royal ships, I should be able to teach the class. ?
  10. On another thread, someone asked about sweeteners available on board. Here’s what they have on the Empress - Blue (Equal/aspartame), Pink (Sweet N Low/saccharin), Yellow (Splenda/Sucralose), White Sugar and Brown Sugar. No Truvia (stevia)
  11. Yeah, I forgot to mention that on the original post.
  12. Most, if not all, of the signs I’ve seen about religious services say they are self-led. When I sail with my church group, I lead a Sunday worship service. We request for a room to meet in from a desk (forgot the department name).
  13. Sure. I should be free after the Sushi Class.
  14. My folio shows I have been charged for the package. I guess I’m just venting. The credit card comment irked me. I’m torn between letting management know what happened or just letting it go.
  15. So, I had this interesting conversation with the one in charge of reservations for dining events. As I have mentioned in a previous post, I have chosen the Bottomless Galley Brunch as the +1 for my Chops +1 package. For some reason, the BGB hasn’t shown on the My Calendar on the app so I asked about it. After going to the “back office”, this guy told me that they will have to confirm whether my booking for the package has gone through. I found that weird because I had already had my dinner at Chops last night. I have a witness on this forum, right @twangster? Anyway, after going to the “back office” again, he came back to tell me again that the reservation might not have gone through. This time he added, “Sometimes, people think their reservation has gone through, but if their credit card didn’t have enough funds, it won’t go through. For example, if the purchase was $100 and they only had $99, it won’t go through.” (That’s verbatim) In the nicest way possible, I said that I was sure I had enough funds on my card. Actually, since I purchased the package on the ship, it should have gone to my folio, not my credit card account. To this he replied, “We are still learning how to use the app since it’s new to us.” Shouldn’t he have started with that???
  16. I prefer “Cracked Conch” over the fritters. I found that out in Nassau where I tried it the first time. The fritters have a lot of fillers whereas the cracked one only has light breading on conch meat.
  17. KEY WEST: “Conch Fritters” and “Cracked Conch” in the Conch Republic. What a “conch-y” day!
  18. Chops is the only specialty restaurant on the Empress
  19. I asked the guy who sold me the package. At first he said I could get another dinner at Chops for the “+1”. He even said I could do the “Chef’s Table”. That’s when I got suspicious and I asked him to verify. He went to the “back office” and when he came back out, he only offered the BGB and the Sushi Class. Hmmm... he must have previously been an intern ?
  20. Funny, I actually checked out your FB profile picture while at Chops last night. Your hair color was Clue #4
  21. You can log on and off any WiFi enabled device as long as you are only using one at a time.
  22. Thanks for sharing this and that one about the folio not being on the room TV. Saved me the trouble of finding the remote and turning on the TV. Looking at my folio on the app now.
  23. Has anyone here tried this offer? It includes one dinner at Chops Grille and an event of your choice, either the Bottomless Galley Brunch or the Sushi Class. I’ve never seen it offered on the Cruise Planner. Do you think $59 is a good price? I think the 18% gratuity is included. EDIT 1: I’m on the Empress of the Seas EDIT 2: The gratuity wasn’t included. I was billed $69.62 total.
  24. I’m celebrating two birthdays on this cruise. My grandma who passed away last year would have been 100 yesterday (November 15th). The celebration last night was for her. My birthday is on the 23rd which I am celebrating on the 22nd, the last night of the cruise. It’s funny how the cruise starts on her birthday and ends on mine. Speaking of bots, I was seated two tables away from the famous “bot” on this forum, but I only saw him with a few side glances. I know it’s not good to stare at people... ? There were clues that it was him. First, he was dining alone. (Hmmm... solo cruiser). Second, his waiter said, “Oh, good to see you back” (Hmmm... frequent cruiser) Then I saw what he was browsing on his phone - THIS FORUM! (Aha!!! It’s him!!!) Dear Mr Bot, I must have looked “stalkerish” to you huh? ?
