  1. I’m going to wait until there is a vaccine before cruising again. Just my personal preference. But once the vaccine is available and I’m my family is administered the vaccine, I will look forward to cruising again very much.
  2. You also can rent a car from Miami if the air is cheaper. It’s about a 4 hour drive.
  3. This worse thing I’ve eaten on a Royal Caribbean cruise is the pizza before they improved it a couple of years back. It used to be pretty bad. Now it’s just ok.
  4. Yeah and what really sucks as that Royal (like most other cruise lines) probably can’t sell older ships like the Empress or the Majesty because most lines aren’t in a position to buy either. I know Carnival was successful is selling two Holland America ships but that was the exception and not the norm.
  5. I just don’t see cruising really until a vaccine is available.
  6. I have not sailed on Celebrity yet, although I really want to once we get a COVID vaccine. I have sailed on other cruise lines (Royal, Carnival, Norwegian) where there is a “bump” like in this picture and did not have any noise issues. Hope this helps.
  7. I’m not sure what to make of this comment. Wishful thinking? Insider info? No details so doesn’t help much.
  8. This is very worrisome to me. I know that the CDC hasn’t been entirely fair to the cruise industry but I’m not terribly happy that the White House is overriding them either. Cases are still going up in most of the country. I’m afraid to say much more because I know we aren’t supposed to be political here. But overriding the CDC isn’t a good solution either. We trust them to make these kind of decisions for us to keep us safe even if we don’t always understand or agree with all of them.
  9. I’m not usually in favor of these kind of lawsuits. And I do have to agree that meningitis would be difficult to diagnose on a cruise ship’s medical facility. But I do have to say that I found it interesting that the article said that the child had a 104 fever and the medical staff sent them back to their cabin several times. I would think at the very least you would give a child with that kind of fever some Tylenol or Advil (if they weigh enough). Wasn’t said here if that was done. Anyone with a fever of 104 fever needs to be watched
  10. Excellent post. I agree. But I have to ask if this bill in just in Florida, I would assume that the CDC would only not be the sole decision maker in Florida if it passes?
  11. While I definitely think the Icon class ships won’t be cancelled, I could see them being delayed depending on how long the absence of cruising lasts on Royal’s financial situation. Like many have said, it could take a while for the cruise industry to recover. But eventually these will be built because of the environmental benefits. LNG is the future of cruise ships until they figure out how to make them totally electric.
  12. These videos are interesting, but I don’t find them sad. Nothing lasts forever. Airlines buy new planes, everyone buys new cars every 8-10 years depending on your preference. Same with ships.
  13. You are in right on the point that I probably should have clarified that Domestic Airlines is what I meant when I said most airlines are removing in flight screens. I don’t know what the asian market is doing .
  14. I agree completely with Matt. Not a big Southwest fan. I hate their seating system. But @Matt most airlines will be getting rid of in seat entertainment on domestic flights. Everyone has a phone or tablet today so they can just stream the entertainment to the devices. It makes the planes a little lighter, so Airlines can save a little on fuel, and it saves them money on software updates and repair.
  15. I asked this same question once in the Cruise Critic boards and was told that the Vision Class ships cannot dock in Cuba. They gave a technical reason which now I’m forgetting.
  16. It’s not a matter of safe. It’s about how we move citizens around the country. We can’t move everyone around efficiently in ships.
  17. There is a huge difference in flying on airplanes and on cruise ships. Air travel have become a necessity in this country. Cruise ships are for vacation and fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to cruising again, but it’s not a fair comparison.
  18. We are going to Europe on Allure of the Seas on July 26. My travel agency gave us one night of specialty dining but the promotion says we have to book once we board on the ship. I emailed them and asked if there was any way we could book it now ahead of time because I’m worried that the Hibachi might sell out and they said that the coupon can only be used on the ship but we can pay for it now and then Royal can credit us once we get on the ship. Questions for people Is it true that Hibachi sells out before the cruise starts? I’m from Galveston and have never done an Oasis class ship before. I can’t imagine that Royal would credit us once we get on the ship for the specialty dining even if we have a coupon. Why would they do this? Has anybody heard of this? I don’t believe the travel agency at all. Thanks much
  19. At this point Celebrity has not announced anything. My travel agent spoke to a Celebrity rep and was told they have no plans to have a ship in Galveston at this time. But who knows if he/she really knows for sure.
  20. I guess the cruise lines have to do what they feel is best based on health recommendations and of course public relations. I find it interesting that even though this virus gets so much attention, you are much more likely to die of the flu and many people don’t even get the flu vaccine every year.
