Joe, I am right there with ya.  I joined CC MANY years ago and used the absolutely WORST username RFerrington.  What a ditz !  ...now I'm stuck with it.  By the time I joined this site I knew better. Oh well....I don't post that much to that other site anyway.  I'm mostly a lurker there b/c I really dislike so much of the negative and snarky posting that they get over there.  Thank goodness we're more civil over here !!

Thanks for the responses...  the hard part is if I want to buy her a drink, how can I do it then?   Her card is linked to her own credit card, so if I want to get her a drink on me, then it won't work because of the drink package...
Well, it is what it is. Hopefully I'll find the right bartender to help me.... anything beats the foot of snow that fell last night!  leaving tomorrow - on board Saturday... I can't wait!

LetsTryThisPlace got a reaction from JLMoran in Need advice about packing a suit and having it pressed onboard
Also one thing that I did with Sandra's dress (I did all the packing) was fold it nicely (follow seams for folds ext.) and put it in a vacuum seal bag. make sure it is packed so nothing else creases it or it may get wrinkles but worked well for us and nothing we had was wrinkled. Also for my suite, I again following seams and natural angles folded it and put it at the bottom of my suitcase (often times they flip them on their belly's) and strapped it down so it wouldn't move. All came out perfect.

We spent a couple of years gifting each other with various pieces of Briggs and Riley luggage.  The larger pieces came with removable mini garment bags that fit into the lids of the suitcases.  That was over 10 years ago.  Now they build the garment bag into the suitcase.  Not cheap but it comes with a lifetime guarantee against ANY damage, just pay the shipping to return it to the manufacturer.  I used that guarantee before our cruise earlier this month when a corner of the suitcase blew out on a previous trip .  I discovered it a couple of months before the cruise date.  They turned it around to us in under 3 weeks!
My tux was immaculate when I unpacked it aboard the Jewel.

They abandoned the iPad idea and are instead designating 1 out of every 3 elevators "Express."  On the Express elevators, the elevator buttons have been replaced by card swipes.  They'll cost $1.99 per ride, or you can buy an unlimited package for $10.99 per person per day, plus 18% gratuity.  Suite guests will have access to their very own golden elevator with TV screens that let them watch all the people who have to wait for the regular elevators and laugh at them over the ship's loudspeakers.
    I kid . . . I kid . . .
(I actually have no idea what happened to the ipad experiment, but it sounds awful and I hope it fails.)

It also depends on the type of debit card. Here in the Cayman Islands, we have been using the visa debits for a very long time. Whereas, in the US they are relatively new. If you a visa debit as a visa card (ie they process it as a credit card) it will have the same holds that they would have put on a credit card and not an overestimation. This is what we have done in the past when using our debit cards at hotels and have never had an issue. I would confirm with your bank, however, to ensure they don't have any fees (I have a Canadian card that charges for this). Also, they hold purchase by purchase from my experience. So I do agree, make sure you have double of what you plan to spend so that you can handle the holds. I am not sure what your spending habits are but at least for onboard 1000 should be enough but don't know about at the stops.

I understand, I don't have limitations, other than I'm a big guy, I'm old and all my joints hurt, I've done a mock booking of airfare flying Business/First the whole way from Oklahoma and it will be $7k per person, which is pricey, but my Wife flat refuses to fly that far in Premium economy, she's spoiled, right now this is a one time thing for us, I want to make it special, it will be our 40th anniversary.

In a straight run, they are very fast.  I took a video of the dress sculptures from the glass elevator going up from Deck 5 to Deck 12 and it was about 15 seconds to go 7 decks.
The trouble is during the busy times you're never going to get a straight run.  You'll stop at Deck 11, Deck 10, Deck 09 . . .  I did notice that full elevators don't always stop on decks with people waiting to board, so there may be some weight sensors or fancy logic at work to improve traffic management somewhat.

Run your foot over with their scooter rude, elevator already has 20 people in it, but still room for me and my walker/scooter rude. Want me to give up my seat in the theater (That I was 15 minutes early for so I could make sure I got a good seat) so they didn't have to walk any further rude, cut in any line because I'm a senior citizen rude.
Like you said about kids, I love senior citizens, I'm one of them (Yes I have my AARP card), but there comes the point in life that you should just be nice and go with the flow, I told my wife that if I acted like some of these people to make sure and slap me, please...
My point was and still is, get your expectations straight/right and you will have fun/good time on any cruise.

I think they are testing the waters to see how bringing OS elements to the smaller ships will react. They will notice the difference quicker on cheaper shorter trips. In all honesty for us a quick 4 day cruise may be better so we can go for a long weekend and have a great getaway. I also know that when I was on Mariner it never felt crowded or too big (although I preferred freedom), my parents who went on Oasis said after Mariner it felt way too big and it wasn't as fun for them. That being said yes I do want to try both. I like the idea of a more modern ship doing the short routes. I have done an old ship (NCL Star) where it's lacking the fun and you have nothing extra to look forward to. Seeing how they are moving the Freedom around I don't think it's going anywhere different for a long while (we have at least until mid 2020). As Matt said, Royal will not jump the gun unless it really works but at the same time these other itineraries will still need ships and they only have so many OS class ships scheduled. I think Freedom up will be safe for now.
