  1. Good point. Better to leave it off in the first place.
  2. Unknown. Given we don't know why she is going in the drydock it's impossible to know how long she'll be in there. However drydocks are expensive so they don't park them in there for any longer than they have to. On the surface there should be ample time to drydock and get back in July but that's a guess.

  4. I've only been once in February and on Ovation, not Radiance. It was last year and it was on the ship crossing the Tasman Sea that I first heard of anything substantial related to COVID-19. Oh to be back in those days... You can read about my cruise here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/17870-standing-ovation-from-the-land-down-under-new-zealand-11-nights-feb-2-2020/ I have sailed Radiance in Alaska and I've sailed Ovation in Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand. I've sailed other ships in both classes so I'm pretty comfortable on both classes of ship. Both are fine ships but Ovation is much newer and has a lot more to do for families. Radiance is a good ship but now much older and from a generation when the ship mattered but not as much as the destination. I have booked Radiance in the future so I have no issues with her but it's pretty night and day different from Ovation. Ovations pool decks and solarium have much more glass and views to the sea and surroundings. Radiance does have a Schooner Bar with a lot of glass and I often hear this cited but in reality who is going to sit in a bar to watch an amazing destination like New Zealand go by? Radiance can sometimes get into smaller destinations that struggle with bigger ships. Consequently I'd look at both itineraries closely. For my tastes Quantum class have really refined the balcony cabin and the layout and bathroom are just about the best cabin of any in the fleet. There are also a lot more balconies on Ovation so often balconies on her aren't subject to the same premium they are on smaller ships. I could make an argument for either ship so follow your gut and see what your travel party thinks.
  5. It's hard to tell. Once they announce and start selling something it's hard to undo that a few weeks later so they are kind of committed to what they already put in motion. We'll have to see.
  6. I don't know yet. With so few ships booking past payment due date it's hard to know right now. Time will tell.
  7. Carnival sees hope for July for three ships but cancels other ships in July. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/05/11/carnival-cancels-some-july-2021-cruises-hopes-restart-some-ships-us-july
  8. Celebrity will soon introduce a cruise only fare that includes no perks or benefits. It will only be offered on select voyages after final payment due date on a cruise by cruise as-needed basis.
  9. If you mean they've come to the realization that May 12 may be the only path to cruises this summer I think that is accurate. I don't see them sitting around the boardroom table waiting for a call from an observer in the courtroom. They are likely exploring every crazy idea under the sun. So the eggs may be parked in a basket on May 12 for the moment but that's as much to keep them safe while they toss around crazy ideas most of which will never see the light of day as it is the lines hoping a judge comes through.
  10. Technically you are still touching it. The CDC guidance doesn't distinguish between the ear loops and the surface of the mask. You know better. The CDC does not.
  11. Blah, Blah, blah. Accurate details don't sell newspapers. Gory headlines do. "Luxury vacation for the rich stops vaccines from reaching poor people"
  12. Cool, especially since none of their ships are in the US for the summer. CDC ain't got nothing on them. They don't come to the US until the CSO has expired.
  13. We could load squirt guns with hand sanitizer and if someone gets too close just squirt them to warn them off. Sort of like this baptism.
  14. The mask thing gets better. Requirements Remind passengers and crew not to touch their masks when wearing them. How do you lower your mask to eat or drink if you can't touch your mask? "Here's your dinner but don't touch your mask to remove it. Using a fork force your food around the edge of your mask without touching your mask". I can see a lot of spilled wine trying to drink from a wine glass with a mask on because you can't touch your mask to remove it before taking a drink.
  15. Blogger, reporter, jerk with a keyboard. All the same these days. A company seeking money.
  16. The other problem with the CDC approach to delay cruising is bad timing. Right now we have large numbers of people fully vaccinated combined with folks who have had the virus. Six months from now the efficacy will not be what it is right now. We don't know exactly what it will be but we do know it won't be what it is right now for either vaccinated or previously infected. There is no guarantee the folks who vaccinated will accept boosters in 6 to 8 months. Many are deciding to forego second shots so it seems logical many will forego boosters. Right now is the best time to take advantage of the data trend. Right now is the safest time to sail. The CDC isn't following science, they are ignoring it.
  17. Once you conclude someone is saying dumb crazy things it makes it very difficult to keep your mind open to anything else they say. If you say nine crazy things and one accurate and logical thought very few will hear it. The valid point is lost, discarded and written off because of the junk they publish. They are basically no different than the cable news outlets publishing crazy stuff in support of an agenda. Facts don't matter, the ends justify the means. At this point I wall take nothing the CDC says seriously. Once we are past this pandemic and years from now when the next one is headed our way I will completely ignore the CDC warnings. That may kill me but I just can't take them seriously any longer.
  18. No worries, it is relevant even if the blogger who wrote it doesn't have a position we agree with or like to see. Keep in mind the site is a revenue generating company seeking to gain subscribers and ad revenue. Controversial blogs about cruise ships are nothing new.
  19. I think the CDC loses all credibility when they publish such things. When I see a crazy person rambling away to no one on a street corner saying nonsensical things I ignore them without a second thought. That is where the CDC has placed itself. Crazy people best to be ignored.
  20. I suppose it's easier to walk away because I've cruised a lot. I didn't need to sail that week from that port. I've sailed Navigator several times since the AMP. I can put that money towards a bucket list cruise like the Galapagos or Antarctica.
  21. In my mind the size of the company doesn't change the equation.
