  1. You are ABSOLUTELY correct! I can not stand them, and would easily just bring my own or go without, I am not a big fan of the taste at all, you can taste the chemicals in the straw as you drink which absolutely ruins it! We got a milkshake at Johnny Rockets and I had to drink it without the straw because it changed the flavor too much!
  2. I am sure as with almost anything else this may be interpreted any way....but I see that hoverboards are not allowed, I know that this is in the same class and is therefore able to be classified as one. One person may let it on and one person may not! I am sure that @twangster, or @Matt will be able to provide a more definitive answer! Prohibited items: Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas. Sharp Objects, including all knives and scissors. (Note: Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed.) Illegal Drugs & Substances Candles, Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Travel Steamers & Hot Plates. (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard. However ""torch lighters"" and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore are prohibited. Hoverboards Illegal Drugs Martial Arts, Self Defense, and Sports Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray, night sticks. Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks. Hookahs & Water Hookah Pipes. HAM Radios Baby Monitors Electrical Extension Cords Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint. Alcoholic Beverages (Note: On boarding day, each stateroom may bring up to two 750 ml bottles of wine or champagne. Guests who purchase alcohol bottles onboard, in a port-of-call, or bring more than the two permitted bottles on boarding day, will have their items safely stored by the ship. These bottles will be returned on the last day onboard for enjoyment once home. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.)
  3. About to take our 10th cruise with RCCL, we had one minor incident when we sailed around the Christmas holidays, there was a group of people in the hot tub that was VERY loud and saying a lot of inappropriate things for the crowd that was full of children. They had Polar Express playing and the group was highly intoxicated, you could not even hear the movie that we were watching out by the pool over the noise they were making. Someone complained and a manager went over and talked to them and they disappeared, problem solved! That is the ONLY time that we have had anything related to alcohol happen.
  4. I do the same thing, and have never had any issues to date!
  5. Hello and welcome to the boards! Please let me be the first to say thank you for your service! 1. I am going to tell you what I was told, I do not receive a military discount but I do receive a Fire/EMS discount from time to time. As long as you have an ID on you that should be all that you need. I was even told that they rarely even ask for the proof once you get onboard, but you do need to have it in case you are asked. I keep an ID card in my wallet and was told that would suffice if asked. 2. I will say that depending on what we book and the job done we give them about $50 in addition to the prepaid gratuities, we may give more depending on the service as well as how many we have in the cabin. I know that there are some that I know of that give several hundred at the end, it is a personal thing! I know that there have been times that we have received service WELL above what we are used to, and have given more. I hope that you have a wonderful cruise!
  6. Yes!! Couldn’t agree more! Oasis lagoon was great! After a few hours there we ventured over to the beach and as you said it was not busy because most people were elsewhere!
  7. Extremely well said @twangster, I have to say that at first I jumped on the "bandwagon" and thought that the improvements would take away from the CocoCay experience, but it does not IMHO, I can say that I loved every minute of it and loved the upgrades. I can say that if they had a 7 day cruise that just docked there for several days that I would GLADLY do it, just because it is relaxing, and there are still plenty of things to do and see, and best of all for the most part you will be able to do things on your own time and not in a rush.
  8. I would check this out, not sure if it is the same itinerary as what you will be taking, but since you mention 4 days I will assume it is, https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/navigator-of-the-seas/mon-2019-07-01-0000 it is the Cruise Compass for the NOS 4 day cruise so you can start seeing what may be available and somewhat start to pre plan things that may interest you. I know that the time may fly by and that it is a short time onboard but it seems as if time slows down for us in a a good way. Just please listen to what @Matt posted in the above article and try not to cram too much into the few days that you have onboard! It will make for a miserable vacation trying to fit everything in!
  9. I have to agree that the movies are usually played in the Aquatheater when they are not having shows there. Still a great experience just not pool side!
  10. Unless there is a health related issue I will never push my time in port, I will always arrive back early if I can help it, I know life can throw too many curveballs and there is far too much that can go wrong. Lets just say Murphys Law seems to apply so I plan accordingly, and am always prepared for a worst case scenario. The stress of arriving right on time dockside would drive me absolutely insane.
  11. We were on Anthem in March, I have to tell you that I was AMAZED at what some showed up wearing in CK, on formal night (yes I know it does not necessarily apply in CK) there was a woman dressed in pajama pants, wife beater, and slippers! Nothing was said and her and her friend had a great dinner! After seeing that I now see that there is quite a bit of latitude when it comes to the dress code!
  12. Loved the video, and was surprised at the turn it took! I saw this and was surprised at the tiny amount of the population that actually has gone on a cruise! I shudder when I think that I was one of those that had not taken advantage of of being on a ship as soon as 7 years ago!
  13. I have been on a few ships that actually have a small pad of "grass" that is off the beaten path for the owners of service animals to take them to relieve themselves. The owner is responsible for cleaning up after their pet in that area. I am not sure what the deal would be if the dog used the restroom in the room or other public area.
  14. Pretty much most of the things on the ship will be open, there will be a few exceptions like the casino and the shops, but most of it will be wide open for you guys to enjoy!
  15. I tell you what, if you are in a giving mood, I will GLADLY take any and all points that you would like to give up to get me up to the Diamond level!!!?
  16. Knowing what I know, a true service dog would not have been held and would have been walking along the floor. Most service dogs are not held and are usually walked. And I have to agree, I really do not care if it was a service dog, it should not have been around the food. I am a dog lover and am actually working to get my dog to therapy dog level and hate to see when people abuse the privilege that they have. Makes everyone else suspicious of those that truly need it for their disability.
  17. OOOOOOOOOk.......Could not make it through Cats on Oasis, and I was not able to make it through the trailer.....I am able to see up to 12 movies at AMC per month for "free" I can assure you that when this comes out I won't even bother. I usually enjoy this type of thing but this is one that I doubt that I will enjoy! As has already been stated it looks creepy!!
  18. I want to say the same thing, I want to say that I checked to see if they had it onboard and they did, and I compared prices onboard to what I found in each port.
  19. I can not help you in the search for the Hennessy White, but I can tell you that it is plentiful, we too had to buy some for a coworker that worked for the wife on her holiday. We had to give it up when we got back on the ship and had to pick it up prior to leaving the ship. I can assure you that you won't have any issue finding someplace that sells alcohol somewhere near the port, on the particular cruise we went on we searched and easily discovered the trend. Almost every port will have a store that sells alcohol very nearby, as it is a big money maker for them!
  20. Agree with what has been said! I only drink what is free, and I too have lost a substantial amount of weight, 110 in total and do not drink soda. Trust us, you will not have any issue whatsoever finding water to drink. I carry a 64 oz YETI bottle and fill it with ice and water several times a day and don't have an issue. Just know that if you are using any of the water stands such as in the Windjammer that you can not fill it directly from the tap, you must use a cup to fill it with ice and water. If you are at a Coke Freestyle machine then you are fine in just putting the bottle in the machine and filling it up.
  21. I can assure you that out of 9 cruises so far the only time that I have worn closed toed shoes are on two occasions, formal night, as well as when we went to Alaska! All other nights as well as cruises we both wear flip flops! Even if that is the suggested wear I highly doubt that you will find anyone onboard willing to enforce it! One evening on formal night I saw a woman dressed in what appeared to be pajamas in the MDR, so if she can get away with that then sandals should not be a problem!?
  22. Ok, I just looked over the deck plans of the ship and from what the news is saying, as well as from the deck plans they were somewhere close to the Solarium on the ship which is not near a children's play area. The pool is a bit of a distance from where they state that they were at. From what I am seeing they were in the area in between the pool and the Solarium, I am not throwing stones, there are just a few things that just are not making sense here whatsoever. And what is even worse is that the child had to loose her life over a lack of God given common sense. Even if I would have placed my child up there and there was a closed window I would have had my arm wrapped around her the entire time just in case she slipped or something. I honestly would not have put her up there but if I did my arms would not have left her the entire time she was there. Such a sad tragedy that was ENTIRELY preventable!!!
  23. I currently work for public safety, at my years of service we get 6 weeks, plus several extra days to accommodate for holidays, and personal days, and admin leave, depending on the year it can be as much as 7 extra days or more. I can not complain whatsoever when it comes to vacation hours, and every shift is definitely earned and appreciated for all of the sleepless nights we have per year.
  24. Look on the left side of the screen, I found out on Anthem that not all of them have the water icon, but you can not miss it, I can not remember its exact location on that left side but I do remember it was there. I want to say that it was the upper half of the screen.
  25. I have used it several times and that is one of the expenses that I plan on, just like @F1guynz I go to the gym several times during the cruise and know that if I left my stuff sitting there fermenting for a full week or so that it would end up getting thrown in the trash due to the strong odors coming from wherever it is being stored. And as others have stated it is amazing how much stuff you are able to get inside of that bag. They frown on jeans and stuff like that but other stuff is fair game, I stuff t-shirts, skivvies, swimwear, gym shorts, and shorts in there. Like others say I would not put anything that is delicate whatsoever, if its not a synthetic fiber or a cotton blend like in a t-shirt it doesn't go in the bag. I know that using the service helps me to pack less, since I am able to wash certain items.
