  1. Anyone have an answer to this yet? I heard the milkshakes are included with the drink package but you had to eat at johnny rockets to order a milkshake.

  3. I love the late seating at 830 but hate that I can never seem to get myself to not eat too much! My wife and I always say we are going to do stuff after dinner but it never happens. We end up eating and feeling stuffed go back to the room and go to bed lol. I've been thinking maybe on our cruise next month I will have a pre dinner meal in the windjammer then in the MDR just get an appetizer and dessert. But that probably would never actually happen...Two dinners it is!
  4. I am sure their motive is to increase johnny rockets food sales by getting more people in the door. I just wish they would increase the food quality at johnny rockets. I would gladly pay the cover charge for a great fresh hand pattied burger on a warm bun with fresh toppings. I hear the royal burger through room service is the best burger on the ship. May have to try it this september on Oasis.
  5. A lot of credit goes to Royal for stepping up and hiring a full time meteorologist. They are always two steps ahead and never even come close enough to the big storms for it to be an issue. So if you're on a cruise and the port stops get changed, be thankful. You could be stuck in rain and 40' waves off the coast of haiti instead of laying on a beautiful sunny beach in st thomas. Sorry for the thread jack.
  6. Yes the cabin and dining was all covered for everyone on the ship. They paid for people that had to rebook flights and hotels home as well. We drove so didn't need to deal with any of that.
  7. For our sept 9, 2018 Oasis cruise we booked last september then repriced cruise and saved $230 on black friday and bought the drink package for $43 per person per day. I have kept up with pricing almost daily and the cruise price has not been any lower but for the 4th of july sale the drink package dropped to $42 per person per day so I cancelled and repurchased. Saved $18.40 I think after the gratuity difference. Best "extras" we ever received was upgraded from oceanview to balcony on Independence of the Seas on a seven night cruise for $100, And last september we were on Oasis of the seas on a seven night western cruise and the cruise got extended three extra nights due to a hurricane. We stayed overnight and an extra full day in cozumel, stayed a day in costa maya, and had an extra sea day. And never even saw a single wave or cloud. Weather was perfect. They had special menus in the MDR so the food was all something new. They were selling the drink package for half price for the extra 3 days but I went into vintages to buy the three days and they only charged me for one. So got three days of drinks for $26.
  8. Sounds great! Freedom is my favorite ship. Keep in mind that up until 2009 when oasis was introduce freedom class were the largest cruise ships in the world. Freedom is still larger than any Carnival ships.
  9. Thank you guys! I thought that to be the case but I facebook messaged RC and the lady kept telling the the OBC would be refunded to the credit card I purchased the package with and I kept telling her she has to be wrong or everyone with a $300 dollar obc would just buy something with their debit card and cancel it and have $300 cash in their bank account.
  10. I purchases the deluxe drink package for my wife and I at $43 per person per day and used a $100 onboard credit to that purchase. It is now $42 p.p.p.d.. If I cancel the purchase and repurchase at the new price will I receive the $100 credit back to use towards the repurchase?
  11. I too have been considering other options. I will be emerald after our september cruise on Oasis, and have only been on one 7 night carnival cruise. The food on carnival was better but I didn't fit in with the person type on board (not much of an obnoxious partier). Even after becoming Diamond and getting the happy hour and drink coupons I can't see my wife and I booking a cruise without the drink package. Not so much because we drink a whole lot but because it's really nice to have drinks paid for months in advance and not have to count dollars with how many drinks we have. So all this time building up crown and anchor points kind of feels like a waste at this point. I might have to venture to the unknown at some point. Royals pay for all the extra food is ridiculous. Carnival has guys burgers which I've heard nothing bad about and royal has sorrentos pizza which no one likes. If your going to have a standalone pizza place it should be really good pizza. If it was a restaurant it would be long out of business. I say try norwegian just for the new ports of call. We went to grand turk on carnival and it has probably been my favorite port.
  12. Thanks for the heads up! For our september cruise on Oasis an ocean view balcony was over 100 dollars cheaper than a normal ocean view room. Go figure
  13. That is awesome! I am sorry, must have misread or maybe they since upgraded the room I was in on Indy to make it an actual JS. It was quite a few years ago when we were on Indy.
  14. I got the same email (except mine said estimated upcharge will be $500 ? ). The fine print at the bottom said they will call once and if you don't answer you are marked off the list and they go to the next person. I clicked add to list because it's not set in stone. If they call and offer me the upgrade (even at a cheaper than stated price) I can still decline if its not in a location I am happy with. We are already in a midship, but slightly closer to front, oceanview balcony stateroom that we got for $1633 total for my wife and I on a 7 night Oasis cruise on Sept. 9, 2018 that we are very pleased with. I did read on cruise critic that when the junior suite upgrade is presented and you accept it you do NOT get double crown and anchor points. Which would be my only reason to consider paying more for the upgrade. The list of perks is pretty small for junior suites. Pretty much a slightly larger balcony room. We once had an oceanview balcony on independence of the seas that was on the hump so it had a larger balcony. They now sell that same room as a junior suite. I would not have paid extra for it.
  15. Sounds like someone got the wrong definition for guarantee. I would be losing my mind.
  16. My wife and I have been on allure and oasis. We didn't like allure but loved oasis. I know they are the same ship but the staff and other passengers just made the whole experience. I guess the planets were aligned just right or something. We are doing Oasis again this september. We don't have kids and I feel all the newer ships with slides and stuff just attract more families and more kids on the cruise (no offense), so we prefer the less updated models.
  17. Ok, we need a used camera gear marketplace section. And just a cruise photos section. Don't put your Nikon stuff on ebay before checking with the group first twangster! I use a d7200 with 18-140 lens and the new 10-20. Before september cruise I would like to pickup a 35mm 1.8 DX for the low light shots and the new 70-300 AF-P DX. All of which will be useless if I ever move up to an FX like your d750 though. I do wish my d7200 had facial recognition like the d750 though.
  18. Is there a website to find out what your status is? I go the email but don't remember the levels or what I was.
  19. So I logged on to my royal caribbean account to check out the cruise planner sale and low and behold I get a pop up saying I have $25 on board credit. It has to be from the refer a friend. We got $100 obc when we booked but used it toward the drink package last black friday. Woop Woop!! I'll take it! That's two orders of room service.
  20. deluxe package for me is $45pppd- I bought it on black friday for $43pppd. September 9 Oasis of the seas. ?
  21. You're going to love Freedom, we have been on a lot of ships and it is still our favorite.
  22. Exactly my feelings. The way things are going cruises will become more expensive than destination vacations before long.
  23. My wife and I have an Oasis cruise booked this september and have 3 other linked reservations. One is a friend I work with and his girlfriend. It is their first cruise and we had already filled out the refer a friend documents but when the website updated that all went away, so we asked via facebook message to roycal caribbean and they said they are no longer doing the refer a friend program. I know it's just $25 but it would have been nice to have been told about it and not having to ask.
  24. If a cruise can't cure suicidal thoughts then he had no hope.
  25. New on deck 11 for sure. I swear motion is worse the farther you go back on these ships. Front to mid is always best. Maybe the way the keel "cuts" through the water. We did an aqua theater suite tour on the back of allure and the motion was awful, and we hadn't even noticed any motion anywhere else on the ship.
