I'm the same. No intention of visiting Cuba at the moment, but if I were to go, it would definitely be Majesty and not Empress for the reasons you listed. It's just too small.

I won't lie that more Radiance Class ships would be a good idea, especially given their popularity and itinerary capabilities. Perhaps a 2nd generation Radiance Class with a few bells and whistles added? For example, a much better outdoor pool space.

I feel your pain! Looking forward to 2019 when I can (hopefully) swap student life for ship life.
Glad that you had a positive experience with Michele & Margot. And I do agree that Tim does a great job with theme nights. Wish I could find a way to sail on the 3 night October 25th weekender on Indy with him as CD.

Wow, you guys are right, doing a blog about the trip certainly does have its perks! I’ve been invited today (sea day) to go up to the navigation bridge for a tour and for pictures! Except a full post about that and the people that made this happen!

BTW - The CD for your Mariner sailing has been changed to Hugo Arenas. Recently promoted but was AM on larger ships for a while and got great reviews from Empress.

So pleased Abe is going to Symphony but we are on the transatlantic, wish he was going sooner! We missed him by a week last year and ended up with Bobby boring Brown and same again this year!

They are indeed very lucky! Maybe he will be on your SY cruise, or if you are luckier, he could rotate doing 2 months on HM and 2 months on SY which could have him on both of your cruises next year.

I wasn't alive in the 80's and also knew most of the songs. It is a good balance as it is 'hip' and high-energy enough for a young demographic, but equally retro enough for a middle aged demographic. Maybe not for the oldies though.
Definitely had a lot of production. The cameos from PacMan alongside the number from the Hairspray professional dancers (who are insanely talented) just add that little bit extra. The Staff certainly did a great job getting people involved and it seemed the same on your scope. Some guests were shy and didn't dance on my cruise. More active on the 2nd than 1st week. Overall, it is a job well done. I just worry that this party won't be good when Michele is replaced in Sept (won't say any more to avoid going off-topic).
On AL, it was the 70's. Great show but time to do something else. I think the 80's is a good replacement. I liked the 90's on HM as well, but some curmudgeons made complaints when she arrived in the USA so they didn't transfer it to other ships. It didn't have as much production, but the idea and songs were there.

Oasis Class don't have the same Promenade design as Adventure as it is nearly twice as wide. Oasis and Allure have a bridge which is usually folded up but comes out for 70's night (doesn't span the width though) however HM & SY don't. They put a stage (about 2ft high, just enough to see the performers from a distance) in the middle of the Promenade between the handbags store and Cafe Promenade alongside using the stage directly above the Royal Caribbean merchandise store.
Not everyone will be able to see, but if you are in the Aft half of the Promenade, you should see. The stage above the merchandise store is angled appropriately that you can see what is happening. I got there early, but I think you can stroll in just as it begins. Busy but still plenty of space.

Aww man... I rode it a bunch for you today! Yellow is slower, but can get fast if you really get a good start. Lots of screaming from the green tube today! Had to give a little yell for the crowd in there, really echos!

Do you think you can scope from 80's night? Would love to relive it. Don't know if you did it last week but I really loved it. Maybe it is my inner Cruise Director though.
Enjoy whatever you are doing in Marseilles today. I stayed on the ship for Week 2.

OK - Info for the Nov. 17th Symphony Group Cruise (to my knowledge and is subject to change):
CD - Bobby Brown; AM - Katy McCullagh
I think I'll pass this one. Hope to join you all for a group cruise one day. I'll keep an eye out for who will be on the Mariner GC in March. :)
BTW - You also get Captain Rob. He is a very personable Captain who is easy to understand, although the noon announcements are no more. :(

    No problem!
Dan Whitney will be on Oasis until early-September. Jeff Arpin has been the vacation fill in both in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 so it could be him. He was on LB until July 22nd. Keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't come back to LB next year as I haven't read good feedback. So, it may be him but I don't have any confirmation. Keep checking back.
BTW - I sailed with Michele last month on Symphony and he is great!

I love all OA class.  But for me, the slight preference for HM and SY is very superficial.  I actually like the decor better on the two newer ships in the cabins and public areas.  But I would sail any of them in a heartbeat.

    Let the haters hate.
I find today's cruising offers a fun and relaxed atmosphere in general.  If there are any passengers opposed to any orientation, they are usually a minority.  It really affects them more than it will affect you.  I'm confident you will have a great time on Liberty.
