If you're sailing on the 7th or 14th, try to see if there is a way to get transferred to Allure, Harmony or Symphony.

Knowing there were workers in the cofferdams concerns me.  Did the dry dock pop like a ballon or slowly begin to settle lower in the water so they had time to evacuate in a somewhat orderly manner?
I sure hope everyone is truly okay.

Well, I'm sure we would all love to not have to fly to get to a cruise. I'm from Scotland and have to fly to all ships so absolutely 0 sympathy for them not having a Quantum in their backyard.

Asking about a CD is like asking which wine do you like?  Chicken or fish?  Stella or Red Stripe?  Blue or Yellow?
An old guy like me will most likely have a different opinion compared to a younger cruiser.  An American might not 'get' a dry British sense of humor.  A European might not 'get' an American CD's jokes.

    Had both.
Jimmy was our CD in 2014 on Oasis - didn't pay much attention as it was my first time on Oasis Class but seemed like a fun, energetic guy. Better for a younger clientele.
Also had John Blair - twice, first on Enchantment in 2011 and then on Anthem in 2016. His style isn't my cup of tea as a younger Scot, too cheesy and I thought he was a bit full of himself. I could also tell on Anthem that he was not used to working on larger ships as L&M was scheduled on the last night and he was not visible around the ship. That said, I've watched some of his videos on FB and seen a different side to him - he does seem appreciative of his followers and still gives the CD job everything he has.

He seems like one of the older classic CD's that would be better on a smaller ship. Heard that he is a good host but not one that does the parties.

Joe01 got a reaction from Hoski in What can people in the 17-20 age group do on ships?
I'm not 21 yet. I feel that my age group is an age group forgotten by the cruise line. Too old for the teen facilities, but not old enough for the adult activities either. It also doesn't help that I look about 15.
We are sailing the Harmony so there isn't necessarily a shortage of onboard amenities, but I feel as if my age group just aren't accommodated the same way. And as nice as it is to spend time with my group, I would rather meet other people and do my own thing. That doesn't feel possible as I'm still viewed as a minor.
    What can I do onboard?

AL is getting her drydock done in March/April next year so should be same for HM. Getting given Oasis in Europe and revamping her after the Europe season feels like a slap in the face after Harmony and Symphony in their inaugural years. Same when Freedom was there in 2017 instead of Oasis Class, what was that about? I digress...

Joe01 got a reaction from The Cruise Junkie in Should Royal have an excursion allowing you to visit other ships in port?
Just checked the port schedule for Harmony this summer, and we dock with Liberty in Cozumel. Been to Cozumel twice before on Oasis & Harmony and seen it already. Would actually prefer if Royal offered the excursion to visit Liberty for the day. They should allow this every time that their ships dock together, or alternatively make it a Diamond perk.
Do you think that this would be a good idea? I know that crew sometimes visit other ships for the day.

    Busiest US Cruise Ports
Miami Port Canaveral Ft Lauderdale Galveston These counts are based on passenger counts including those on day visits.  Port Canaveral is on the only port on this list that functions both as an embarkation port and a port of call for day visits so it's numbers are inflated relative to the others.
Ft Lauderdale was the very first Oasis embarkation port and the most convenient of them all.  However none of them are hard to access.  While the Miami airport is gateway to South America and serves other international destinations, Orlando's airport is the gateway to Disney World and not everyone is into Disney.  Miami is the most challenging port due to tides and the channel used to enter the port.  Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale airport has a larger domestic airline market and since it borders Port Everglades it is by far the easiest.
Regardless, they'll all remain home ports for Oasis class I suspect.   It's just a matter of which ship and when.
