dustfsu
We will be docking in Nassau this weekend on the Allure. Does anyone know if there is a little beach area in walking distance from the dock area?

sleepy425
Junkaroo Beach is close. We like Tiki Bikini Hut over there (across from McDonalds). The beach area isn't so big that we have to worry about where the kids are, and the water stays shallow pretty far out. Be warned though that locals will charge you for chairs and an umbrella, then ask you for more because "that money was for my boss, now I need a tip." That said, when we don't have kids with us we just either stay on the ship or go to the Pirate Republic Brewing. Robert M
teddy
There’s a nice beach area just beyond Junkanoo that we always go to when we are in Nassau. I think it’s just called the Public Beach. It’s an easy walk from the ship. dustfsu
Rfk
Don’t do it. Stay on the ship. TessFromFlorida
PhillyLady
Are you on a tight budget? We have used Resort for a Day and walked to the British Colonial. I know they have remodeled the pool area now, and I do not think lunch is included anymore, but the hotel is quite convenient to the cruise docks and a very easy walk. It is lovely and safe. I actually went by myself while husband went scuba diving in the early morning, and then he joined me there later for lunch, pool and beach time. There are other hotels in the program as well, but a taxi will be required. Atlantis used to sell day passes for just the use of its beaches, but you must take a ferry or cab. I would not do the Aquaventure Day Pass unless you are willing to splurge. We also enjoy the catamaran excursions with snorkeling in Nassau--the water is always so warm and clear. Enjoy your visit--we never stay on the ship when in Nassau (Freeport, maybe, but never Nassau.).

We were going to shop a little and my wife was wondering if a beach was near by to jump in and cool off.

We always get out and at least walk around if not find a new part of town to see (we're very adventurous travelers with tons of third world travel experience, so even the sketchy parts of Nassau are a worthwhile expedition for us!). But we always hit up Pirate Republic. Is the beer particularly good? Hell no. But it's decent, and I always like to get a good buzz on and start chatting with the pirate-in-residence. "ARGGGHHH YEEE WELCOME TO PIRATE REPUBLIC MATEY hey you should get the stout, it has nice cocoa and roasted coffee flavor with licorice undertones and an OG of 1.045 ALL HAND HOY AT PIRATE REPUBLIC ARGH" teddy, sleepy425 and WAAAYTOOO
