Jtroup
I know I'm allowed to bring my own non-perishable food items, but can they be opened prior to boarding the ship?
smokeybandit
We do it every cruise from snacks we opened the prior day for flights/hotel stay

I found them to be quite picky one time where something I’d always carried on at NJ was never an issue but Baltimore-
ChessE4
We avoid open food containers, but we tend to follow rules.
Ryan79
I wouldn’t expect them to make it through.
Ampurp85
This was port of Miami. I have seen it hit or miss at PE and PC. Pattycruise
Crown&AnchorEsq
All locations are hit and miss, it will depend on how much they are paying attention and how much they care. I never intentionally bring things on board but with the kids and diaper bags sometimes we miss stuff or find out that something we thought one of the kids had eaten was in fact stuffed somewhere else. At FLL we were told to toss a box of raisins because they were not sealed but we had a cut up banana in a sandwich bag that they did not say anything about (I assume they missed it). In Bayonne we had homemade sandwiches and yogurt (sealed but perishable) and were only told to toss an apple. Miami we had a couple open snacks in our diaper bag but everything was allowed through. CrznTxn
We brought a large pan of homemade fudge in mini cupcake papers individually packaged for some of the crew last Christmas (it was a request they gave to us) in Galveston. Other than a short delay discussing whether ziplock bags were technically "sealed" they let us through. Didn't hurt that we conveniently left the operators a couple of bags. Mike n Ky
My wife likes the HEB sweet and sassy trail mix, she claims it was named after her, so we had several large bags of it in our luggage when we got on the ship. No issues. FWIW, we wouldn't have time to stop on the way to the airport since we had a 10am flight.
