DebsGlass
Can anyone who has recently gotten back from Cozumel, Roatan and Costa Maya give me an update on the seaweed issue? I know the beaches are getting cleaned but what is it like when you go out snorkeling?

Bean79
Cozumel wasn't bad when we went to Chakanaub but Costa Maya had it bad, April 13th -16th ChessE4 and Mary Sue 1
melmar02
We just got off Allure yesterday with these ports. Cozumel and Roatan were fine. We will not be doing another beach / snorkeling excursion at Costa Maya for a while. TexanTwoStep and Mary Sue 1

Babsy47
Roatan and Cozumel are islands with West facing beaches that do not get the seaweed flow directly. We have never seen a seaweed issue at these two locations. Costa Maya, however, has only East facing beaches and the seaweed can be awful. Now I have to look up all the west facing beaches for my trip in 2 weeks. Hey, it might help.
CrznTxn
Most of the beaches along the strip in Costa Maya put nets and floats out to catch the seaweed. Several years ago these were further out than they are today which greatly reduces the swim area but the beaches are clean. Some of the private beaches like Maya Chan have floats out but the seaweed still gets through. The last two years have been tough on Cost Maya with the seaweed during the spring and summer.
