Lovestotravel
We have just learned we will have some OBC when we cruise in May. Can that only be used once we are on-board? Or, can we use it through Cruise Planner now? My TA said she *thinks* it is only once we board. I don't think she deals with cruises much (ugh), so I wanted to check with the experts! You guys!! If it is only on board, do we see it show up somehow once we get there? TIA! (And I get that it is called "On BOARD Credit", so probably it is only once we get on the ship, but double checking!). Lovetocruise2002
Some OBCs from travel agents are only for use on board. The ones given by Royal, you can use on cruise planner purchases. You will see it in your cruise planner (at the top) if it is available. SteveinSC

I have some OBC from Royal Caribbean, and I have the option to use it on cruise planner now. When you check out, it will give you the option to use it now, if it's available. Mikeb1892
What about OBC from the RCL Bank of America card? Is that able to be used in Cruise Planner?
Lovetocruise2002
If OBC is available to be used in your cruise planner, it will show up in your cruise planner when you log in. If it is not there, then you likely have to wait till you get on board. It will show up in your account once you board.

If you log in to your cruise planner, you can see if it lets you use it. Put something in your cart and continue until the end. Looks like this if it's available. OBC from the Royal Caribbean Credit Card usually doesn't show up in the cruise planner until less than a month prior to sailing (I think it was 2 weeks prior when I last used it), however people say that if you call them and ask them to apply it immediately they will do so and it will show up in your cruise planner when it's actually useful

OBC from the RCCL Visa card will be available prior to cruising and available for use via the Cruise Planner. IRMO12HD

I have specific experience with this. Normally, if you convert points to OBC a couple of weeks before your cruise, it will be available on the ship. I normally convert before then, but I must call the toll free number to make the OBC accessible to Cruise Planner. Alternatively, call the awards center initially (instead of converting points online), and tell them you want the OBC for immediate purchases. They have told me the conversion would go through in a few days. I find I like using my Royal CC for Cruise Planner purchases so I get double points, and then I can use the OBC on the ship. But I have also used some for Cruise Planner. Have a great trip! IRMO12HD and Lovestotravel
