  1. We're in the "go to lunch" camp, but usually head to somewhere other than the Windjammer like the Promenade Cafe or a specialty restaurant if it's open and wait there until our cabins are available.
  2. On our cruise out of England on the Brilliance to Norway and Iceland, the food was phenomenal and had many English dishes added to the menu. However, on our Baltics cruise on the Serenade from Sweeden to Denmark, the food was less than stellar, so we ended up dining in specialty restaurants 6 out of the 13 nights and many of the others in the Windjammer. The saving grace, however, was that the Windjammer was phenomenal on this cruise with many made-to-order items and fresh crepes, sundaes, dessert waffles, etc. at night.
  3. Definitely look for a Cruise Planner sale. Also, if you're on a ship that leaves early, I honestly wouldn't bother at those prices. An alternative is to book a room at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island. Hotel guests get full access to Atlantis and it can be a cheaper option depending on how many adults and children there are in your party. The downside is that you need to make a stop to check in, but it is walking distance to Atlantis and I'm pretty sure you can check-in and check-out in the same transaction.
  4. I've only been to Southampton and Barcelona, so I won't be of much help. However, in Barcelona, we simply hired a taxi and toured the city. For 5 of us it was about 120 Euros total for 3 hours. We enjoyed it as we could spend as much or as little time as we wanted at each of the sites and the driver gave us the history of the various sites as we went. We actually loved the city so much that we have planned a cruise from there next summer. That way, we'll have some time to explore the city more precruise.
  5. Mariner added and names changed. Have fun! I'm so jealous. I fell in love with the Christmas markets in Marseille this past year when there for a winter Med cruise. My son is still a bit too young for a river cruise and is much in need and desirous of the kids clubs right now, but someday I hope to follow in your footsteps. I'm headed to Amsterdam next month for the first time for a Norwegian Explorer cruise up into the Arctic Circle. Changed! Bermuda is on my bucket list along with a full transit of the Panama Canal. Added! Done! Enjoy the B2B. We're doing the same with the group cruise on the Freedom.
  6. Done! Added! You're welcome. I fell a little behind because of work and my mom being in and out of the hospital, so everything was back to normal about a week ago until I was offered a promotion at work. As a result, things could get crazy again for me. For San Juan, $490 does seem too bad. I think we were in the $600 range last time. Sadly, I was able to fly from Los Angeles to Paris for $550 R/T during the same time of year as when we went to San Juan. We plan on taking our nieces on the Freedom group cruise, so I'm not looking forward to that airfare bill. On the upside, MEI was able to get us a Promenade View Family Cabin at a really good price and it's huge--essentially two cabins made into one, so there are two bay windows, a bunk bed alcove, two sofas, etc. Just wish there were two bathrooms. Added! Enjoy. That should be a great cruise. Hope you're enjoying your land trip right now. Updated! A great ship for your first cruise! They're now on the list. Updated! You're now on the list. The Anthem is definitely one of the ships I want to try.
  7. Central Park and the Royal Promenade are the only two places that come to mind.
  8. Added! Enjoy your cruise. Corrected! Enjoy your cruise; you've been added to the list. You've been added. We're doing New Zealand for the first time this December. Added. Have a great cruise. All have been added. I like your style of cruising. Added. Enjoy each and every one. Let me know the embarkation date and ship so that I can add it to the list! Enjoy. Should be a great trip. You've been added! Hope you can get cheap airfare to San Juan. It's on par with Europe for us from the West Coast during the winter. Enjoy! This is a great ship to celebrate on. Have a great cruise! You should be pinned to the top as a permanent link, although I know Wilson provided the link as well. All have been changed/updated!
  9. That explains all of the moves. ? You'd make a horrible fugitive. ?
  10. We rented a car in Halifax and drive out to Peggy's Cove, had lobster, and visited the cemetery where those recovered from the Titanic were buried. We also did Acadia, but book a private company who uses trolley style buses.
  11. I've only done over night ports stops in Europe that included ports in Iceland, Sweden, Russia, and Denmark. In all cases, the entertainment schedule was similar to that as when not in port. The only real difference was that dinners were often open seating like breakfast and lunch.
  12. I've done Maine/Eastern Canada twice and loved the trips. It's in my top 5 of all cruises and top 2 for North America.
  13. The lastest is that 3% (129) flights were cancelled yesterday and 11% (468) were delayed due to inspections. No word on today or into the future.
  14. http://www.bahamas-treasures.com/bahamas/Nassau_Taxi_Fares.html Taxi fare are above and should be about $15 going. I don't believe the toll is paid in the return trip. There are also shared taxis at $5 per person.
  15. I'm flying Southwest tomorrow and my flight is still on time. From what I've read, the number of flights cancelled today was less than 1% of their total flights, so odds are good you won't be affected.
  16. We were upgraded from an Oceanview to a verandah cabin, but asked to go back to the cabin we had as the upgrade was to far forward. We then arrived to the pier and received a $200+ bill for a complimentary upgrade that we didn't accept. It was eventually figured out and we received a complimentary dinner at Chops for the confusion.
  17. Children and spouses get the same status as the highest C&A member in the family. A Crown & Anchor Society member can be added into a relationship with other family members in the same household and receive equivalent tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system described above. Pinnacle Club member tier status will not be awarded to dependents if earned by their parent and/or guardian. Pinnacle Club member tier status can only be earned by an individual, spouse or significant other by one of them accumulating 700 Cruise Points or more in the CAS program.
  18. Consider renting a car and perhaps head to Holiday Park for an airboat tour of the Everglades.
  19. Hot water is available 24 hours a day outside of the buffet, so you could bring instant coffee packs, use a pour over coffee maker, or you a coffee press pot.
  20. We did not bring a car seat with us for my son's first cruise, but did after that. I just want comfortable with him riding in my lap. I would bring a stroller especially if you plan on walking a lot. Just note that some of the ports aren't stroller friendly, but it will be useful in the ship. Bring everything that you might need and plan on bringing a little extra. It's also helpful to carry baby medication with you (e.g., fever reducer) just in case. Personally, I think cruising with infants and children is one of the best vacation options as you only have to unpack once, get to see a variety of ports, and have qualified child care onboard if wanted. This is one of the reason my son has cruised so much and the reason we've sailed twice as much since his birth than before.
  21. The only time I ever had our was able to get an electric kettle was when sailing from London.
  22. The Vision is a relatively small ship, so I wouldn't worry about crowds. Plus, if you're using the elevators, there should be no crowds going up from deck 2. You'll also have the promenade deck just a couple of decks up where you can get fresh air and walk outside. I prefer midship for motion purposes and have been on Deck 2 on similar ships in rough seas and noticed much less movement compared to elsewhere on the ship. The downside is you're much farther away from the buffet and upper decks, so it takes a couple of minutes longer to get there.
  23. I did a five night package and simply made/changed my reservations once onboard. There will be plenty of people in the Royal Promenade when you board to make reservations for you and/or to change any that you might have. In my experience, you're only tentatively assigned dining on the first night.
