  1. I agree. Disney has the same sort of dining package and if you don't want to spend all your time eating, planning on where to eat or getting to your dining place, usually two meals a day and a snack thrown in works out well. That is a lot of planning when you are supposed to be relaxing. Good in concept, not so good in practice.
  2. I'm sure somebody with you could pick up the slack.
  3. Thanks for the heads up! Just cancelled my old package and rebooked with new price. Save $60
  4. That's a great deal if you are someone who always eats in the specialty restaurants. Being this is our first cruise , we opted to go with Chops, Izumi, just for variety. s and Giovanni's and then do the MDR the rest of the nights. Maybe through in a Windjammer dinner, for variety. That way, we get to experience a little bit of everything. Maybe on our next cruise.
  5. No, we are on Serenade, sailing Oct 1st
  6. Just booked our dining for our Oct cruise, 157 days out!!! Chops $35pp Izumi A la cart pricing Giovanni's Table $21pp
  7. No. In the fine print of the offer it states "Card valid for this ship and sailing only."
  8. What! I was so looking forward to Pimiento night!
  9. It's probably one of those guilty pleasures for some! We all have our guilty pleasures. I'll share one of mine, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." by Gordon Lightfoot. I can't help it. It reminds me of my childhood and I love it.
  10. I believe they will be updated under the "cruise compass" tab when made available by a member. If someone has a current one, more than likely it would have been uploaded already.
  11. Instant grits are better than no grits!
  12. I agree with you. I think there is room for smaller ships as you mentioned. If you want to expand your customer base you need to diversify. Not every one wants to cruise on mega ships. There are a lot of companies out there providing cruises to places that RC won't or can't go to because of the size of their ships. And if you have ever looked at those cruises, they are not cheap. So in some cases, price is not the only driving force. More choices mean more customers.
  13. The shore excursions that are offered by RC, are not run by them, correct? They are just contracted by RC and provides RC guests the ability to get the first bookings on them? Is there any way to find out the actual name of the excursion companies providing the service? What are the pros and cons of booking through RC and booking directly through a private excursion company?
  14. I guess you're right. Baked Alaska seems out of place when your wearing shorts.
  15. Do they still do Baked Alaska on cruises? That's something I always remember, them parading through the MDR, when I think about what it's like to cruise from my childhood. But that was, a long time ago.
  16. From what DocLC and others have said RC is very accommodating as far as dietary needs are concerned. So do not hesitate to ask anything, at any time.
  17. Obviously, with them having to cancel cruises, this wasn't a planned remodel? Is this common?
  18. I imagine two scooters in one room is going to be a tight fit.
  19. It is a good deal saving you up to 50% off menu prices, depending on what you order. A lot of people will say it's just another thing that they now have to pay for that was once included. Bad coffee is included, but good coffee cost extra. Some people will just drink what's there and not complain. Others will buy the coffee card and then complain. While others will buy the coffee card and just be happy they don't have to drink the bad coffee. And finally some people won't bother drinking the coffee at all. I think that should cover everybody.
  20. Serenade of the Seas Oct 1st 1st ever cruise for 27th Anniversary! It was a surprise! Only 159 days to go, but who's counting? I AM! EVERY DAY!
  21. Another vote for Chops, since the first night is actually your anniversary. We are eating in the MDR for our anniversary during our cruise because it falls on the fifth night of the cruise which is also formal/lobster night, but will be dining in Chops another night during our cruise.
  22. If you are a coffee drinker, nothing is worse than weak coffee. Even if people complain, it might take some time to switch. Disney finally switched from Nescafe, yuck, after how many years?
  23. So if they think you can afford to pay more, they charge you more? Sounds like some tax legislation, a certain party would like to pass. I'm just saying.
  24. As I see, at least you had something to lessen the pain!
