I have a TP-Link AC750 TL-WR902AC which I use when I am on a ship. It basically takes the Royal-wifi hotspot and and creates a wireless network with your cabin.
It is easy to setup, you set a switch on the side of the device to hotspot mode and then connect to router, usually by address entered into a browser. There is a quick setup where you search for the available wifi connections and connect to one. You can also setup the wifi network name you want your devices to connect to.
you enter your voom password and your almost set to go.
the first time you use the web browser it will ask for your voom password and will connect. Your other devices should then seamlessly connect when they are connected to your own network.

I hear many cruises do not allow this....but it's been done.  There's a YouTube video of someone doing it (not successfully)
I think I also read a thread where someone was ticketed and fined at a port for fishing without a license.
Crew and staff are known to fish from the lower loading decks (without getting caught).
That said.  I plan on bringing one of these with me  ;)   Maybe get some shrimp from the salad bar as bait!

BillHoo reacted to WAAAYTOOO in First and Last RC meal?
The last meal for us was the lamb shank on Grandeur.  At least, that's what Dan had.  I think I had fried cod of some kind.
First meal ?  Who knows....whatever the MDR was serving the first night of our very first cruise, which was also on Grandeur...out of Tampa.
My favorite thing to eat on Royal is the cream of mushroom soup so if I could only order 1 more thing for eternity, that would be it !  I would beg for a Grand Marnier Souffle to go with it though....

While I think there should be a sauce or some type of garnish, I don't think it looks that bad. If eat it. Maybe pedestrian, but still edible.

Yes.  Reduced service hours - some breads, sandwich meats, soup, salad fixins, fruit and simple desserts (vanilla ice cream, chocolate and yellow sheet cakes).  Or just - 24 Hour Pizza Bar - everyone likes pizza!
Otherwise, you run into the other cost effectiveness dilemma - rather than why run a few items all over the ship?... why keep a whole kitchen open for a few late diners?

Next time, instead of spending on a cruise, I may just fly to a destination and put my cash into hotel room service and other local dining options.

I was on the Anthem June 22 thru June 26th.  My wife noticed they were pushing food down our throats and bringing us entrees to try.  I think that has to do with them trying to show volume to justify staffing/salaries, etc.  I ate at the MDR at 5:30 each night and it was usually only 50 percent capacity.  So maybe they are trying to avoid being reduced to 2 MDRs and having the floor space changed to another jewelry shop.
I embraced my 270 pound weight (though I'm going to be working out the next few months to reduce) and found a fellow cruiser who shared my sentiments.  We were on the way to the International Men's Belly Flop Competition on Deck 15 when his wife took the following pic.  His name was Nick and we were comparing how our our tummies shook like a bowl full of jelly.  I told him "I actually HAD a bowl full of jelly for breakfast at the WindJammer!"
I didn't feel crowded at all.  Even the jogging course upstairs was fairly easy to maneuver (I went at 6 AM).

BillHoo got a reaction from RestingBird in First time playing BINGO for $$$
Played bingo for the first time for cash.
This was for the final game of the cruise.
Bought a 6 card, three game pack and got a "cracker" tear off lottery ticket.  That was called the "Winner's Pack".  Got an additional cracker for $5 and the bingo ink maker "dauber" was $2 (Normally $3).  CORRECTION:  I got the dauber for $3.
Didn't win any of the crackers.
First game was a $750 jackpot.  Second game was $820 and Third game was $1250.
They said the first game was the largest jackpot they had seen for a First game.  Usually it gets that way on the 3rd game.
I did win a T-shirt for a having the "scariest laugh".  Not the official RCCL BINGO T-Shirt though.  Those were for sale at $10 and youu got a free cracker with it.  Also, if you wear the T-shirt to any future BINGO games on Anthem (or maybe all of RCCL) you get a free cracker (a $5 value).
Wonder if I should have bought the T-shirt and shared it around with friends going onto future cruises?  If we win the $2000 jackpot we split it and call ourselves the Brotherhood of the Travelling T-Shirt.  Ha!

Winner's Pack of cards was $39. Extra cracker was $5 and Dauber was $3 - total $47
The next pack up was 9 cards for all three games at $59.
The players pack of 3 cards for three games was $29
Total time for game play was about 1 hour.
The Bingo host also made mention how the Cruise director brags about the$7 Million spent on multimedia for the 270 Experience and their "Virtual Fireworks display"  He presented a free Virtual fireworks display on the projector that lasted 1 minute!  Ha!

I saw no honeystung chicken on Anthem 6/22 to 6/27.
And yeah, last cruise night, I was annoyed at a woman who was standing in front of the caribbean food selections at the WJ, her plate resting on the steel bar while she was eating shrimp from her plate for 4 minutes as he 14 year old child wandered around her.  She saw people waiting to get to the selections, but would not move.  Wasn't even looking at the caribbean food.  Just standing there with vacant eyes eating shrimp.  Shrimp wasn't even at that bar!!!

I've seen videos of the WJ where they have had Congee - Chinese rice porridge with fixins (some pork, chicken, scallion, maybe some chinese pickles or turnip - but I doubt they would have thousand year old egg)

I've always believed that the WJ hours were insufficient.  I doubt they will make a change b/c of this new RS policy but I can think of a half dozen other reasons why they should have SOME portion of the WJ open at all times.

I agree. A small menu served after hours would please most people I would think. I think the items you mentioned above, maybe with the addition of burgers and hotdogs, would be easy and cost effective. Food and labor cost would both be low.

I'm going in June.  I may pack a few tupperwares to bring some snacks from the WJ and keep them in the fridge for after hours. (some fruit, vegetables and tub of dressing for dipping, a sandwich, or some cold fried chicken, etc.)  Stuff that doesn't have to be heated.  Are there microwaves in the rooms?
