  1. We could care less who the flipping cruise director is on a cruise. Itinerary is the main reason for going on a cruise. And the shopping people can be a real joke. Some Cruise directors are really good and the bad ones are BAD.
  2. Sea days are so relaxing. Looking forward to doing a long re positioning cruise. And yes its true some of these cruise directors are a real piece of work. Heaven knows where they find them.
  3. There is nothing greater than sitting outdoors watching a flick and having the sea breeze. Get a couple of towels for padding and your good to go. Some pizza and cocktails. And the rest is history. Enjoyed Oasis outdoor movies and looking forward to sailing on her again.
  4. Hump rooms are always our first room choice. Extra space is always great to have.
  5. In as much we are loyal to Royal we did Princes to Alaska and they were incredible. We did the land package and then the cruise. All based on various reviews.
  6. We do the same thing. Plus a bottle of Febreze. I bring two ties and 1 shirt for formal nights and I am set. We each bring half a dozen plastic hangers each and a very small bottle of laundry soap and we are good. That and the laundry special is it. As twangster just mentioned we are now doing longer cruises as well and you just pack accordingly and you are set to go. It all depends on the climate and the time of the year that you sail. We looked funny 3 years ago doing Alaska in July getting on the plane wearing a sweater and a jacket and it was 90 degrees outside. We took them off on the plane but they were not packed in suitcases adding to the weight limit. Also there is no fashion patrol watching over you. Thank goodness.
  7. In all honesty for us it is all about the itinerary. Oasis at the moment is the biggest ship we have been on. It was a bit insane as we have never seen so many electric scooters on a ship as we did on that cruise. Over the years in conversation with numerous ships employees they mostly prefer the smaller class ships. The food and service on them we have found is actually a lot better as well. Bigger is better for the added things to do. I love all of those added to dos. Booking a Harmony cruise without telling Mrs. but will eventually inform her. She is not a fan of bigger ships as I am. But once on board and seeing a show and Wonderland and so on and so forth she will be hooked I know. Three years ago we were on a cruise and she stated we need a break for one year. Ha ha. She not me has us booked or taken 5 cruises since and is looking at 2 more and just last night asked when future dates will be available. To all: HAPPY CRUISING !!!!
  8. Brilliance and Tampa is a match made in heaven. Did Tampa in February and parked about 20 spaces from the terminal entrance. Did walk off when we disembarked at 7:30 a.m. and we were on the interstate at 7:45 a.m.
  9. Thank you all so very much. This is the beauty of this blog site.
  10. When you disembark the fastest way off is to carry off your luggage. You are the first off as soon as the ship has cleared customs. You are not waiting some where for your number to be called. And with no customs form to fill out the process is even faster than before when going thru customs. Tampa no longer uses them. Was on Rhapsody in February.

  12. Not in the least bit surprised. Thank you for the advice.
  13. We are starting to find that out as well. As of today actually when I was just at the their office this afternoon. Another of those shall we say non discussed facts. Travel agents have a lot more clout than I previously ever thought or imagined. I will be adding our travel agent to our Xmas card and gift list this year. Like the old adage goes : the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
  14. My travel agent mentioned that she gets notified as would I at the same time. She said that travel agents get shall we say preferential treatment when dealing with companies as opposed to the common traveler. We will give it a try. She did state that like the previous posts stated that their are openings. You just have to be patient and hopeful.
  15. She did not state the actual months involved. I wish i had asked her that much.
  16. If a cruise you are interested in has no room types available that you are looking for is their a wait list that you can get on? What are your chances of that happening? Should you get on multiple lists? i.e. : Balcony, Suites, etc. Thanks
  17. Ironically I just got home from my travel agents office and she informed me that July was going to be when those dates would be available. And the new books will be available as well. Hopefully that is true. Its marked on our calendar.
  18. With the threat of the points possibly changing we are booking enough cruises to get us to the next level over the next 1 1/2 years. That is where the junior sweet comes in handy so as to get double points. Especially on the 9 night and longer cruises.
  19. I would rather watch reruns of Lawrence Welk than play at a slot machine for hours on end. Ah one and a two.
  20. Breaker one nine this here is rubber ducky. Over
  21. We love San Juan, especially Old San Juan. Absolutely zero negatives. The Southern Caribbean itinerary`s are so much better. The food is great. I could go on and on . We go on the advice of the locals and go where they go wherever we travel to. All of the after mentioned comments are spot on.
  22. You don`t have a problem now.. You did have a problem in respect to not wanting to go on a cruise. The sad thing was while living in Orlando for 10 years we should have been cruising a lot and did not. Ten years removed now its a yearly event for us. They are so much fun and very relaxing.
  23. O.M.G. That is the problem with society. UNPLUG and enjoy life. Life is too short. Can you even remember how it was without a wireless society?????
