  1. Just a really nice video from the NY Times OpDocs series on RC's own Super Mario Salcedo. The Happiest Guy in the World Thanks to the RC Crown and Anchor Society Facebook page!
  2. I've never sailed less than 7 days, so I'm not sure about getting a drink package on a 3-dayer. It looks like you'll leave at 4pm and arrive Nassau the next morning. If you're in Nassau all day, that's pretty much a whole day you'll miss on the package. The next day is Coco Cay, but the drinks will be covered by the package. then you return to Canaveral at 7 in the morning. Unless you have a high tolerance, or can really toss 'em back, I'd probably not go with the package (although I don't know how much the package costs). Regardless, you will have a lovely time! I'm just mad because I was in my 50s before I found cruising!
  3. If you buy the package at $45/day and can't break at least even (esp with the coffees and fresh squeezed OJ) - you're doing it wrong!! Now I'm a bigger guy, but i easily come in the black....and I never get drunk. In '16, my back was just ruined, and I was in a lot of pain, so I tried to drink as much as i could in an effort to get drunk, and couldn't. Throw in the pre-paid convenience and it's a no-brainer for me. Heck, even my wife broke even, or darn close to it.
  4. Weyerbacher is solid. The first growler I ever got was their Pumpkin ale and it was so good! Of course, that was many years ago!
  5. Well, there goes my good drunk I had been working on.... Says the guy who hasn't moved from the Schooner Bar in hours...
  6. I'm no expert on these things, but I'm pretty sure that Australia is not in Europe.
  7. Assuming you dock at the same place we did (don't remember which one, but there was a very large shopping area at the pier), the taxi stand is well-marked and easy to find. We had no trouble at all getting one for our drive to Nachi. Here are the prices:
  8. Loving this so far! Thank you for your dedicated "research"! :-D
  9. Dude. That was a super-fun blog to see and read! Your fam is beautiful - thanks for sharing them with us. The photos....man, you have a great eye. I think I loved the San Juan pics the most, especially the ones of the street scenes. The pic of you and the Labadoozie made me feel relaxed, so I know you loved it! Great job!
  10. I'm ten minutes from the terminal in Charleston, and it's quite common for me to consider "scratching that itch" by just jumping on a Carnival tug for a few days. Then I get some calamine lotion and that problem goes away. Now, if RC came to Chucktown, that would be a !
  11. I was in Germany a total of 7 years, and never once made it to Normandy. That, and never learning to ski while I was there, are two of my biggest life mistakes. Kick myself every time I think about it. My nephew lived in Basel until January, and we never made it to see them, either. Grrrrrr!
  12. AWESOME! I'm so glad you had a great time! I love Freedom, too, but man, the Solarium on Oasis has me hooked! I am anxious to hear about your Viking cruise this summer. We used to live in Germany and have thought about it, but we would rather go with an open itinerary so we could visit some of the towns where we used to go (especially Trier!). Paris is phenomenal! I hope you can get some macaroons from Laduree!
  13. Siiiigh....I wish I was the third Jim twin.
  14. Thanks a lot, Lindsay!
  15. Oh, they want your money, alright....
  16. I'm by no means a salad guy, but this looks fantastic.
  17. You'll never forget your first Solarium.
  18. Okay, enough of the small talk and niceties.... Now that you're a vet, we need one thing, and one thing only from you: A SORRENTO'S REPORT We all know that Jersey-ites are pizza connoisseurs, so we must have answers.
  19. I think that, of all the new sights, sounds, and smells from my first cruise in '15 on Freedom, it was exactly the color of the ocean that made the longest-lasting impact on me. All of the water around here, ocean, river, and freshwater lakes is that murky, booger-colored green. Then when I saw all of that gorgeous, deep blue, I was mesmerized! Keep havin' fun, y'all!
  20. Beautiful pictures, as usual, pal. That Solarium is beautiful, too - it looks bigger than the Freedom's. Good to sea life vests in your room, as opposed to Oasis, where you'll get them at your muster station (honestly?).
  21. Wow, Columbus Cove looks a LOT more crowded that when we went in January. Your weather looks wonderful. Keep having fun! Lunch at Labadee was a good bit better than I was expecting, so there's that.
