  1. Enjoying your blog! Thanks for taking the time! So, how was Charleston? I don't get downtown much anymore because it's just become so congested, but I do love Craftsmen. They have a fantastic taplist and bottles, as well. There are so many nice places to visit that are within easy walking distance of the terminal.
  2. On our maiden Oasis voyage in January, I picked a port aft balcony on deck 12. We loved it, but found out that there are lots of things to consider, primarily - if you're going to be that high (and stairs are an issue for the old bones), then you'll find yourself waiting a lot for an elevator, especially any time near dinner. So this November, on our next Oasis cruise, I booked forward starboard so that we could use those elevators and just walk the promenade to get to the MDR, boardwalk, or flowrider. Also, I LOVE the Solarium, and that puts us considerably closer. To echo mworkman - I'll be on a cruise so I don't really care where I am!!!
  3. Oh, don't be coy with us; we know there's no way you can be that good-looking without a lot of "pretty-up" time!!! HOOAH
  4. You are going to have so much fun. A word of caution, though - try not to go too overboard right now, lest you burn yourself out too soon. A year out is perfect for learning all of the nuances of this place, your ship, your itineraries, etc. I also wanted to give you your first "like"!!!! I have a feeling you're going to get a lot more!
  5. Wait a sec - you've already booked 20 years out??? How may days is that???
  6. Sabrina - what a wonderful cruise we've had, thanks to you. Your prose, insight, likes and not-so-likes, and lovely pictures made your blog fantastic. Every time I got on the message board, it seemed as if there was a new post - either from you or one of us. Looking as forward to your next cruise as much as you are! Well, maybe not "as much"....
  7. Hi Chris! I'm afraid I can't answer that one, as we drive down to Port Canaveral from Charleston so there are no airports in our itinerary. My first two cruises, I bought about 4 bottles on board, but in January, I never saw a sale, and was looking more specifically for stuff that the ship didn't carry (the Zacapa, for instance). I enjoy buying liquor on the ship, though.
  8. I can't believe what they're planning for Coco Cay. 1) Part of me wishes they'd just leave it alone and let it be natural. That said, RC sure knows how to do stuff like this, so I bet it will be nice. B) There is literally nothing to slow down a hurricane if it heads to the Bahamas. Seems to me like they're taking one helluva risk. But again, they pay people a ton of money to ensure their investment.
  9. I wish you had taken pics. I don't even know that other guy anymore...
  10. Standard RC tap list, sadly. However, that Racer 5 did catch my eye - it's an excellent IPA. DFH 90 minute is solid, as well.
  11. @CHRIS WONG - We had a couple travelling with us who didn't purchase anything, so they took a few bottles; the rest we put in our (very heavy) carry-on case. @JLMoran - I just went and double-checked and the Blue Mountain was $45. I never, ever would spend that at home, but that's what vacations are about, right? @RestingBirds - Thanks for the props. I got that at the big grocery store (wal-mart like) in Cozumel. I would have preferred the Añejo or Resposado but this is all they had.
  12. Is that a rhetorical question? Here is my haul from our January cruise. I love liquor drinks but I'm such an idiot - I can't make a good mixed drink to save my life.
  13. I don't care about the big cities, either (except maybe Heidelberg, which isn't really "big") - I just want to go back to my little village in the Pfalz and the surrounding area. I'm tempted by the river cruises, but then again, I want to be in control of where I go and they don't have that kind of flexibility.
  14. I lived in Germany for 7 1/2 years. Have drank viele gluhwein! That and some gulaschsuppe is the best thing for a bitter cold day (and perhaps some apfelkorn). I miss Germany so badly. We were considering going back last year for our 30th, but it's so expensive, and now that I've found cruising....well, you know.
  15. It's hard to describe, really. Best I can say is that it simply smells like relaxation. I sigh the biggest sigh of all when I cross the plank, get a squirt, and "smell the smell". Kinda like the warm, enveloping feeling when you sip a good whiskey or gluhwein.
  16. Hahaha When we all have to get up and go to work tomorrow, we can check out your blog and live vicariously through you!!
  17. Since it was nearly two years (I know, I suck) since our last cruise, I had completely forgotten the smell. OHMYGOSH - when we boarded a few weeks ago, it all came back to me and I was literally overwhelmed. I really did feel like I was where the Lord meant for me to be.
  18. And you eat it with mayo. Ooops, that's the pommes!
  19. I'm really enjoying your blog, Sabrina! Thank you for taking the time to show lotsa pictures (the twangsterbot needs to up it's game!) and great dialogue. Here's hoping y'all (that's southern for "you Canadians") find some good, warm weather soon. It was pretty darn cool and windy here in Charleston today, but not as bad as NC. I'm sure you'll find it!
  20. Hey Chris - has anyone ever bought one of these (or similar)? Do you guys make any kind of commission or incentive if you were to sell one?
  21. That's great. It's such a beautiful little church that kind of sticks out right there on the boardwalk amongst the bars and restaurants. That little girl was too happy to be in my shots!
  22. Love the pictures!!! Did you happen to see how this church on the boardwalk fared through the hurricane? I hope this pic isn't huge
  23. What a great blog! I'm sure that each of us who love to cruise are interested in the lives and experiences of those who make our voyages so wonderful. Thank you, Chris, for your insight; please keep posting!
  24. Awesome pics! Thanks This is an interesting looking ship...
