tingtang reacted to TessFromFlorida in DIY Room Service
We always order coffee, fruit, and pastries from room service each morning. I stash the lids from that first day and use them to cover our plates when going back to the room from the Windjammer with snacks for the night (rotate them as needed if they get dirty). 🤠

Fire is too dangerous on a cruise ship smoking shouldn't be allowed at all. Now I have lost that battle as it is allowed. If we did smell someone smoking you just call guest services or tell the room attendant? Either?

There is plenty of room to enjoy, but one of two ways to get from one end of the ship to the other requires those with asthma and/or allergies to smoke to walk through the unhealthy air. This now means that HALF of my access traversing the length of the pool deck is severely compromised.
Want to call it a "control thing," then I will assert that it is a control of my HEALTH thing. I don't care if others choose to jeopardize their own health, but as soon as their actions negatively impact MINE, it's a no go.

It seems more of a control thing for you, there is plenty of space for everyone at the pool deck to enjoy.

There is no reason to coddle the air polluters. Put them in an unattractive space and leave the open pool deck to those who want to enjoy the FRESH air.

Have you been on icon? We’ve sailed oasis class twice with our kids during spring break and icon is spring break on steroids. No desire to go back.

This is EXACTLY why Icon is one and done for us. April 20 sailing we had 2300 kids. Groups of girls trying to fight each other, boys doing damage to the teen club. Pools constantly closed. No desire to sail this class again until Royal grows a set of balls and cracks down on this

Interesting. I have a similar view of hotel and cruise ship hot tubs.

I totally agree. This may be a one and done for me. They need to consider changing the target audience on their next mega ship or they will have Loyal to Royal people like me heading to different lines. Adults would like to enjoy these beautiful venues also.

I had to get my CPO "pool operator" license for work last year and the guy giving this course said after the next two days you will never go in a public pool or hot tub again. Then he says wait for day two about hot tubs. 😲
Yeah it was that scary, that bad. I was going to ask specifically about cruise ship pools but never got around to it. He was right though, not going in a public pool anytime soon. 🤣

Not just on a ship, but everywhere... I just cannot put myself in a public pool. 🫤
I believe this is not unique to Royal, but fortunately for us, Royal addresses it seriously and immediately. Your local hotel pool or public park pool, maybe not so much...

More eye-witness reports from this sailing's Roll Call Facebook group:
Allegedly the same kid had an accident two days in a row and one Code Brown was an adult. Someone is claiming they had their entire cruise refunded after contacting someone high up in the company. On this same port day nearly all excursions were cancelled due to storms, so a lot of unhappy people to begin with. Could be an interesting outcome!

The Code Brown we witnessed on Mariner last November was good for 2 mojitos and one cigar for me, then got bored and left in search of other entertainment. The casino I believe, no one poops in there......................I think.

We were on the April 20th-27th sailing on ICON. We had 3 sea day. EVERY sea day the main pool was closed. We were told 2X vomit and 1 code brown situation. Also the kids splash area in surfside was closed for the same at one point. I also expressed annoyance with guest services and was told I would receive a FCC. Have not seen it yet.
As amazing as the ship is, having only 1 large pool is a definite fault.

Have deposit on next May. However, debating. Literally using "One and done" as our catch phrase.
It's hard because it's an amazing ship. Aqua Dome/Overlook etc is a wow factor.
It's the pool deck and handling of rules regarding children. It's non existent.
More kids in the swim and tonic the past 2 hour's then adults. And they keep diving under the water and swimming around concrete barstools. Lifeguard says nothing. How a kid hasn't cracked his head open yet is beyond me. It's a bar. Nobody under 21 needs to be in it. I don't drink, so it doesn't effect me as much. Spent 10 minutes with a dIet coke and a splash of pool water. Disney Cruises is super mega strict on adult only areas. Children only too. Royal needs to draw a few lines in the sand, when it comes to the pool deck. It's a (you know what) show. Literally. LOL.

Yeah I thought whoever thought these were a good seat idea should be fired. Or made to sit in them for 3-4 hours straight!
