Real life pros and cons of getting the deluxe drink package
FloatyBoaty replied to R Turner's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
I was just thinking that yesterday!!! I'll be so excited to reach Diamond, but don't want to worry about whether the vouchers are being used for my coffee or having to pay for an extra drink. I absolutely appreciate that they offer the vouchers, but love the "don't have to think about it" aspect of the Deluxe Beverage Package. -
It is so unfortunate - I thought the cast was so talented, so amazing - the dancing, vocals, all of it - and people just start walking out because it's just so dated and (in my opinion) just not a good show for Oasis. There's too many slow, boring parts even with it cut down and people just don't "get it". I'd seen it several times before and wanted to give it a chance, but, nope, I never want to see that show again. It does amaze and delight me as to how much talent and production quality Royal brings to their shows overall though, just incredible.

Real life pros and cons of getting the deluxe drink package
FloatyBoaty replied to R Turner's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Lavender Martini is in the Trellis Bars in Central Park - they make it with Vodka there. In the Schooner Bars (or the Champagne Bar on Allure) they make it with rum and call in kind of interchangeably a Lavender Martini or Lavender Daiquiri. I generally drink vodka more but I think the rum might balance the lavender better. -
Anyone Seen The Allure Cruise Director - In Person
FloatyBoaty replied to Thorntor's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I think I ran into him once a couple of weeks ago, only because I saw his name tag, but I know he was out there making announcements and keeping things rolling for sure. So many activities and just a great cruise. I didn't expect to like Allure so much and I just loved it. -
Real life pros and cons of getting the deluxe drink package
FloatyBoaty replied to R Turner's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
I've had the Deluxe package on all of my cruises so far. I love not having to worry about what I'm drinking & how much I'm spending or having to sign a receipt each time. I start every day with a big ol' latte from Cafe Promenade, a smoothie from Vitality for lunch, get water bottles throughout the day & make sure I always have a couple available in the room as well. I can try a new cocktail (just like Adriana, above) and just not drink it if I don't like it! I never would have paid $14 for a Lavender Martini for instance. It was delicious, but for me, a too much lavender to finish. So, I just set it aside and ordered something else, no big deal! I like seeing all of the $0.00 charges on my account That said, as mentioned above, when I hit Diamond next year, I will probably only order the Refreshment package (and save my 4 free vouchers for fun martinis) If you buy it, watch the price. If the price goes down return it and buy again as I'm sure you've seen mentioned if you've been checking out the videos & posts, etc. It can definitely make your cruise a little more carefree. -
Are the shows on the Wonder full shows now?
FloatyBoaty replied to PG Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
This came up in different post last week - it's now Effectors 2 with lots of updates - a great show but considered new. Lots of tech, lots of great dancing and vocals. Sometimes the kids in the audience will go up to the stage to get high fives from the "Superheroes" at the end of the show. @Matt says: Royal hasn't said, but I think they are saying it's in previews until the official "opening night" for the ship's christening in December. -
How to Access Digital Cruise Compass
FloatyBoaty replied to MattG's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
On my recent Allure cruise, my cabin steward starting leaving me one each day after seeing the paper one that I had picked up in Guest Services. Guest Services did not have them in the holder wall as in the past for easy access, but they did have a few at the desk that you could ask for or sneak in and grab (on the low spot of the desk between the sections of staff). -
Limits on number of coffee/soft drinks ordered at same time?
FloatyBoaty replied to Sunny_D's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
I have had them give me 2 smoothies at once, knowing that if someone in the cabin has a Deluxe package, every adult has to have some sort of package - but - as with many other things you'll see on the message boards, it depends on who is serving you & their experience level (and maybe even what kind of day they're having). Most times I would just bring both cards to avoid putting them on the spot - especially for the morning coffee run when they are usually so so busy. -
Are the shows on the Wonder full shows now?
FloatyBoaty replied to PG Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes, they have been several months. Here is (from a friend who did the highlighting, sorry) this week's schedule. You can see the running times at the bottom of each column. -
I was on/at Labadee last week, traveling solo. I did go into the craft market and did find the sellers very pushy. But I never felt threatened or scared at all - first of all, it's open air, not a closed building. They are just trying to sell stuff & make some sort of living. They absolutely backed off when I told them I was not going to make a purchase (and then the guy in the next stall would start up) Bottom line, when I had enough, I walked away, no problem. As others have said, it's a private, secured peninsula that's made into a Royal beach day resort and you can see the ship from wherever you are pretty much.

Misleading Premium Beverage Package Discounts
FloatyBoaty replied to daveinhutton's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I just did this yesterday - the refreshment package had dropped $3 on a 10 day cruise, so worth it to cancel and repurchase at the new price right away. My refunds generally show up on my credit card within 3 days, but that's on your credit card company. One note - if you cancel, repurchase immediately. We had a thread a couple of weeks ago where the price was going up it seemed like every 4 hours. Also, things like excursions, The Key, and some dining packages can sell out, so you don't want to miss by a click. -
in my experience, yes definitely!
-
I have done The Key lunch twice in the past couple of months. I find it to be very relaxing with impeccable service - for me, a perfect way to start my cruise and have already reserved for my next. The process getting into the lunch was a bit smoother on Wonder than here on Allure (a bit of a line here as one person was checking off Key guests, giving you Key paperwork and checking your carryons). BTW the luggage dropped off in the Key line has been inside my stateroom by the time the rooms opened.

Cruiseline Insurance vs third-party insurance
FloatyBoaty replied to jreese679's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Can I ask who your policy is with? I have been researching annual policies myself. Thanks! -
You can control the temperature in your room on Wonder. We've been on twice and have found the thermostats to be very responsive.
-
Do you mean you're worried about the airline losing your luggage? If so, then try to just do all of the recommended things to do your part - get to the airport 2 hours early. Check your bag and double check when the baggage claim tickets are created that they are checked all the way through to your destination. If you're checking at the curb (which I actually prefer) give them a nice tip and they'll take care of you as much as possible. Also, consider a tracker so at least you can help find them if they get misdirected. I started using Apple AirTags this summer, which Matt also talks about in one of his videos.

I have redacted everything ( including the price I paid for the Royal shares) except what they require: my name, the RCL stock name, the number of shares, the statement date. I have also left unreacted the name of my investment company for more authenticity I guess. I have gotten shareholder credit for 3 cruises (all of the cruises I have owned it for) quickly with no problem at all using the online form. I submitted multiple cruises last time (there's room on the online form for up to 10 as I recall), so doing the form in late July I submitted my August and October cruises. OBC for each hit my account within days.
-
Oh yeah, all my cruises are missing too. Hopefully everything's just repopulating (sorry more tech-knowledgeable people if this isn't a thing). I had tried it just 10 minutes ago and it was still down. Fingers crossed it all shows back up (it will) cuz I booked 2 new cruises today and I'm ready to look for excursions and drinks and restaurants and all of the other fun extras!
-
I'm on Allure October 1 and it's available for reservations.

Agreed. "Cleaner" feels very disrespectful for their effort, workload, and kindness. Stateroom attendant.

Deluxe Drink Package now or Black Friday/Cyber Monday
FloatyBoaty replied to True Gamut's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Do you need another person to say buy it now? Buy it now! 67.99 is a good price to start with - I've cancelled and repurchased it and a few other things on my next cruise (and my last). I regret not getting the UDP on my last price when I first saw it because it never got anywhere close to that price again over a 6 month period. Have a great cruise! -
I used packing cubes for the first time for our last cruise and - wow - love them. Got different colors for myself and my husband, which also helped with cross packing (I hate cross packing, but understand the need these days.) I also could not figure out what to do with the super large ones, so will try your solution! Everything came out of the packing cubes so neatly - I think fewer wrinkles than in a regular pack even. I got mostly regular packing cubes and one set of compression packing cubes for the bulkier stuff. Thanks for the ideas and have a great cruise!

Oasis of the Seas Capacity & Royal Up
FloatyBoaty replied to octaviocloss's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I'm sorry that your family members got COVID Richie, it really sucks. But would you not have been just as exposed at a crowded land resort, which also would have been packed the last week of summer vacation? Or DisneyWorld or any other family vacation destination? Yes, cruises are back to being crowded, but the point that @tonyfsu21 is making completely valid - you were and are exposed many other places to every germ out there, not just COVID. I got COVID after my June cruise. I am also vaxed and fully boosted. We had to test before cruising still then. But then after you get your negative result everyone is out and traveling to the cruise on planes, in hotels, in restaurants - and it just sucks but it happens. I'm more inclined to think I got it walking through O'Hare or Newark than on the ship, but I will never know. I was grateful that it seemed to be the mild summer variant and was feeling great again in a few days - AND planning my next cruise!!! -
It is refundable OBC though, so if you don't use it for purchases on the ship, it will get credited back to the card that you place on file for ship purchases after your cruise. We cancelled one excursion for my husband and had the excursion company cancel an excursion for both of us on our last cruise. Somehow I just managed to spend all the OBC anyway .
