My preference is as early as possible so I have time to squeeze in a later meal, too. 😂

I am the opposite, I prefer the later time and grab a snack from the Windjammer around 5 pm to hold me until 8 pm.

Schooner has both… the lavender daiquiri is rum based and is one of their signature cocktails.   They also make a lavender martini (vodka based) for Chops.   The martini is personally my favorite cocktail onboard and I learned the proportions last August on Odyssey and have been making them at home ever since!

Will you share the proportions for a martini please? Many thanks.

  3. I will be Allure in under 2 weeks.  I have signed up for Taste of Royal.  It was not my cup of tea but since most in my group, I figure I rather go than miss some time with my family.  We also will be doing the wine pairing for an extra $19.99.  I will let you know how it is.

I did see this on the RC website about Taste of Royal:

    • Substitutions are available in case of dietary preferences or allergens. Please inform the Restaurant Manager onboard the day before your reservation.

    boat

    bōt

    noun

    1. A relatively small, usually open craft of a size that might be carried aboard a ship.
    2. An inland vessel of any size.
    3. A ship or submarine.
    ship

    shĭp

    noun

    1. A vessel of considerable size for deep-water navigation.
    2. A sailing vessel having three or more square-rigged masts.
    3. An aircraft or spacecraft.

This is funny - the discussion about boat vs ships.  During my boating course I took in NH, the class was asked why does the classification for boats only go up to 65 feet.  Since I have been on ships and HAVE BEEN correct for calling the ship a boat, I knew the answer.  The instructor was surprise I knew the answer since I had told him that I knew next to nothing about boating.  But I knew the difference between a boat and a ship.  LOL!

If there was ever a time you WANTED to get COVID (?!?!) then , YES now is that time!  I tested positive Friday and am still coughing and short of breath.  Otherwise feel fine and actually did test negative last night with a home test but feel I really need another week or so to feel back to normal!  Unfortunately my entire family that vacationed in Universal Studios and Disney for 7 days all tested positive within a day or two of returning…kids, grandkids, all of us!

2 vaccinations and 2 boosters did not help me stay healthy! 😥🥴
I hope you stay COVID free!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. But we all tested negative, including the grandchild's parents.  Go figure.  So, now that I am within 2 weeks of the cruise, my fingers and toes are cross.  NO COVID!!!

I definitely agree. I would also add a level 2.5: Worrying about every time someone in the family has a cough! Praying its not Covid

Oh goodness - I am experiencing this RIGHT NOW!!  Fortunately I am 2.5 weeks out but last night my son called telling me his son (my grandson) just tested positive for COVID.  Yes, we had them over for Memorial Weekend.  Now everyone in the family is scrambling for a PCR test since our home tests have been showing negative.  At least if I do have COVID, I should be well enough to cruise on June 19th.  Fingers and toes are crossed.

    Welcome to the boards!

You can use a site like this one: Coco Cay (Bahamas, Royal Caribbean) cruise port schedule | CruiseMapper

Except when it is out of date.  I am on the Allure. Originally the ship was going to Coco Cay on Monday, June 20th.  It is now going to Coco Cay on Thursday, June 23rd.  The CruiseMapper is still showing Allure coming in on Monday even though our schedule was changed back in early April.

  8. I know for a fact that when an item is sold out, the button turns gray. However, the item should have a small banner at the top left saying 'Sold Out'.  My June 19th cruise cabanas on CocoCay were sold out in March. I got one of the last two.  I am now trying to get an extra jet ski.  I keep looking daily.  Fingers are cross that someone can't make the cruise and need to cancel their reservations.

We have always asked and been provided. "didn't have the required flour" sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me. 😎

Now that I know what Savory Bites are, I can tell you as a bread maker that the type of flour does matter.  I have tried switching flours in recipes before and it was a disaster. I also know at the beginning of the pandemic, King Arthur Bakery was having such a hard time filling their flour orders that they created a new size: 3 lbs.  This was instead of their traditional 5 lb bag.  This was to help meet the demand for specialty flours.

I bet you never thought you would learn so much about flour on a cruise blog.  LOL!

  10. It is possible to lose weight while cruising.  I lost a pound on a 2 week cruise. The advice I was given is you can have A dessert or A drink at dinner. I also used fitness trainer (on another cruise line) on my sea days. This time, I purchased the unlimited fitness classes.  I hope to get one class in a day. (I don't do well when my exercise is not structured).  I like the idea of no bread on the table.  I usually stay away from the carbs and nibble at buffets - take just enough to get a taste of something.

Good luck.  Let me know if you actually lost weight or stayed the same.

  11. The cold has been running rampant all over the place.  I am in New England.  I got over one head/chest cold last week.  I am now working on cold #2 - thanks to my granddaughter.  Both times I have tested negative and my granddaughter has tested negative.

I would not panic. You can go on the cruise with a cold - just be kind to others and keep that facemask on.  I would recommend trying to distance yourself from your spouse by sleeping in another room and eating at a different table and taking care of your kids yourself.  Use disinfectant on surfaces  your spouse could have touched.  And have your spouse where a facemask in house.  Yeah, you may still come down with a cold but at least you can't say that you did not try.  Good luck!
