  1. Thats unfortunate. We've done 2 cruises this year and we have gotten turndown service every single night with towel animals, cleaning, printed cruise compass for next day, extras, etc... Did you speak to the stateroom attendant as to why you weren't getting turndown service?
  2. I think you and your wife will enjoy going to the FlowRider and sitting in the observation area while your kids are trying it out. It's fun to watch people trying to do it and cheering them on. You can take the video of the kids while they're on. Same thing for the Zip line. You will be able to watch the kids come across. Maybe you'll want to do the mini golf as a family. My husband and I took our3 teen boys on their first cruise this summer. We enjoyed both activities together and activities apart from one another. We always ate dinner in MDR as a family, but after that our boys would go to the gym. My husband and I would go to the production shows and game shows. Sometimes the teens would join us, sometimes they didn't. We did all excursions together as a family. All 5 of us enjoyed our cruise, sometimes doing things together and sometimes apart.
  3. We were on Liberty in July. We brought a regular outlet expander and an EU expander for each of our rooms. That was plenty, even for 3 teens with multiple devices to charge overnight from ear buds to phones…
  4. Defiantly option 1. But you didn't mention where you are flying from or if they were both non-stop flights leaving from the same place. For example, we live right next to Cleveland airport. In December, weather can delay and cancel flights. The more stops, the more chance of delays and canceled flights.
  5. I wouldn't rent a car in any of those places. I laugh in Roatan when I see the driver only slow down at the one stop sign on the main road. My husband asked, "Is the stop sign optional here"? The driver said, "If I came to a full stop, I'd probably get rear ended". We had to drive around an accident with a car and a couple tourists on rented scooters in Roatan this past July. Our driver told us that it happens all the time with tourists, not familiar with driving there.
  6. This is what we do for cash. It's the only reason we go to the casino. You go to the slot machine. Tell it you want to bet a certain sum of money. Let's say you need $200. It charges your sea pass card $200 then you hit "cash out" (instead of gambling). It will print you a voucher for $202 or $204 (if you had a couple of C&A dollars of free play loaded by RC). You take the voucher to the cashier and they give you cash in any denomination you want.
  7. I sailed Symphony this past Feb, but the Western itinerary. We used the surf and stream and it worked well for us. We have cameras set up in our house to watch that our teens were getting ready for school and not doing anything crazy. The videos from both the inside and the outside Ring camera always worked when we checked.
  8. Thanks. I guess it's not available for my cruise. The only "onboard activities" listed are Casita rentals for either port or sea days. I'll keep checking. My husband has always wanted to do one of these tours and we never have.
  9. I don't see it listed as an option in the cruise planner for my cruise on Wonder in Jan. What is it listed under? Is it an excursion?
  10. I didn’t have the key on Liberty, but I did have a 10:30 am boarding time for this ship a few weeks ago. There was a guy named Tom ushering people into the correct line. You should be able to come to the suite//key line at 10:30, I say get there then.
  11. Welcome to the forums. I've used the public transportation bus in Grand Cayman. But we used it to get to a resort on 7 mile beach and stay there. This was back in 2019 and the bus was just a few dollars. We enjoyed being on the really small "buses". They really were really vans that looked like VW buses. We enjoyed talking to some locals on the trips. Their bus system operated a little like a taxi, where they could take you off of a regular route. We stayed on the regular route, though. For the amount of places you want to go, I am guessing either familiarize yourself with the bus routes 1st, or consider using a taxi service. I have no experience with taxis there. Hopefully, someone else can give you some better advice. Iv'e only been to Grand Cayman a few times and all the other times we did cruise ship excursions.
  12. I was on a land vacation in Cancun in November of 2009, when a hurricane came to our resort. It made the trip awful. While we were stuck in our room unable to do anything at the all -inclusive resort, we watched the weather channel on tv. They were talking about the "poor cruise passengers" unable to dock there and how they were diverting them to Jamaica instead. I was convinced from that moment on, cruising was a much better vacation because the ship will just divert you to another place.
  13. I noticed the same for my January cruise. The water park pass was $74 before the "sale". Now that it's on "sale" it's double the price!
  14. Royal uses the Coxen Hole port. The Mahogany Bay one is for Carnival ships. I've only been to the Coxen Hole one, but each time we've driven down the road our driver has pointed out the Mahogany Bay one.
  15. They weren't looking for sushi. Actually, the 16 year old said, "they could of had it, but I wasn't looking for it". Sorry, I wish I could be of more help. I do have to say, if they have it available, ask the head waiter to bring it to the MDR. The head waiter brought us a big selection of Indian food to sample while at dinner. We absolutely loved our experience on Liberty. If for some reason there wasn't sushi available, I'm pretty sure they'd make it special for you.
  16. I was on Liberty a few weeks ago. Although I only ate at the Windjammer for breakfast, my 3 teen sons went to the Windjammer each night after working out in the gym. None of them saw any sushi there.
  17. The funny thing is my husband's double shot is decaf! I don't understand. I drink the plain old free coffee Royal gives, but I'm getting it strictly for the caffeine. My husband doesn't want the caffeine, just the strong flavor.
  18. Thanks everyone for the advise. I'm not sure about the coffee card. I'll have to do the math. The large/vente size decaf coffee drink actually comes with 2 shots (because of the large size) and we add an extra shot. I'm thinking they might want to punch the card 3 times.... We're Platinum and you get a couple of half off coffees on board, already. When I ordered this drink on Liberty a couple of weeks ago, I was always charged a different amount, anywhere from $5-$8. It seamed strange that the price was different, dependent on who was serving me.
  19. I was considering getting the coffee card for my cruise on Wonder in January. I know it's not good at the licensed Starbucks location. My husband is particular about his coffee, but enjoyed the decaf mocha latte espresso with a double shot from Cafe promenade on our last cruise. This is because they were using the Starbucks beans. Does anyone know if this coffee drink would use 2 punches in the coffee card? or do you pay the difference?
  20. I got 2 24 packs on my cruise in Liberty 3 weeks ago. They were bottles. If I remember correctly, they were just under 12 Oz each. They weren’t Dasani, either. I can’t remember which brand, I believe it was some off brand. When I was in Symphony in February they were Evian. I was hoping for that one again.
  21. I'm booked on this cruise! I can't help with the shuttle or hotel recommendations, though. We are arriving Friday morning and staying at Endless Summer Dockside Resort Universal Studios for 2 nights and going to Uber in the morning to the port. 1/27-1/29 is the Rock the Universe Christian music festival. I've never been to it before. I thought it was a good event to incorporate before starting this cruise on Sunday, 1/29.
  22. The iguana place is an add-on that is $10/per person to any other booked excursion. We booked Monkey-snorkeling. You will 1st hold the sloths, monkeys and macaws. Then, Daniel Johnson is usually the captain of your boat to take you out snorkeling. Yes, the actual owner is the boat captain. Everyone working at his establishment is his family or very close friends. Not only is Roatan mine and my husband's favorite island in the Caribbean, Daniel Johnson is our favorite person. We specifically looked for a family cruise to take our boys to Roatan to meet Daniel Johnson and his family.
  23. We just did this cruise with our teens 14,15 & 16. It was our teens 1st time cruising. Both the teens and adults had the best vacation ever. You should pack bathing suits in your carry ons to use the 1 st day when you board. You can do the pool, waterslides, and flow rider the 1st day, when there are no crowds. We ate dinner ever night in the main dining room as a family at 5pm. It might sound early, but that frees you up in the evening to do the shows. I emailed [email protected] 2 weeks before coming and requested a table by the window. That makes your view while dining extra special. I would highly recommend booking an excursion w/ Daniel Johnson's monkey and sloth hangout, if you don't already have one planned for Roatan. Our family cannot say enough wonderful things about how this man runs his business. You can hold sloths, monkeys, macaws, snorkel and go to the coolest iguana farm all for about $55 a person. We book this one directly through their website instead of with Royal Caribbean because you get to do more.
  24. kids can't use the sea pass card to charge unless you go to guest service and give them permission. My 16 year old son wanted to add some cash to his sea pass card so he could use it onboard. It was his own money. He works at McDonalds. They would not accept it he needed to bring me to guest services with him to give him permission to use the card. Either for a set amount of money, or free to use as he pleased. But I had to grant him the permission.
  25. This whole post sounds like a person who goes to Disney World and has a miserable time with their family because of poor timing. It's like a person who arrives at the MagicKingdom at noon when it's packed and complains that there are lines for all the big rides, and they even waited over an hour to eat in the hot sun. Then, they complain that the ride they really wanted to ride was broken. While another (more prepared family) had their family wake up early and arrive at 7:30AM and gets on multiple rides. The second family ate their meals at off peak times and barely waited at all. Yes, their favorite ride was still broken, but because they ate at non peak times, arrived before the crowds, and went back and enjoyed the pool in the heat of the day. This family enjoyed their vacation. Each family went to the same place, but had a completely different experience because of the timing. One of OP many complaints, was having jet lag. Maybe a day for everyone to nap and recover from that, would have fixed a lot of the negative perspective. Yes, not seeing the glacier was still disappointing, but their perspective would have been different. Personally, if that would have been me on this vacation. I would have been thanking God that no-one in my party had to be part of the families that had to have a medical emergency or a death while on vacation....But, after having my own child murdered in a school shooting, I have a different perspective then most other people....
