  1. Your cruise does not go under the CWC.  I know this because I had to pay the $100 penalty for moving my July 4th cruise to June 13.  It does not show on the main page but under the Questions and Answers.  Here is the statement:

Do all sailings qualify for “Cruise with Confidence”?

Cruise with Confidence covers cruises booked on or before January 31, 2022, that set sail on or before May 31, 2022. View the Terms & Conditions

  2. Yours was not the only ship.  MSC, NCL and Disney had troubled the day before and the same day as you.  I know it does not make what happened to you and better, but the Bohemian government was blocking lots of ships this week.  Disney had two ships in the same port one was able to let people off and the other one could not let passengers off.  We are going to have a wild ride for a couple of weeks and unfortunately you were hit in one of the first waves.

  3. I have read a few accounts of people that have tested positive on their RCL cruise and have posted what they did.  They have been different but common.  Check with the cruise people and they should give you the entire process.  In the ones that I have read they will leave you in the room until the other passengers are cleared.  Then they will escort you off the ship with people sanitizing as you leave the ship.  You will exit the ship by the second floor like excursions and not through the port.  There will be a customs person there that will clear you without getting too close.  Then they will put you on transportation that takes you to your house and stays with you until you get in your door.

With that said... this is only based on what other people have posted and some had medical transportation, and some had medical flights home.  The last one I read was flown home to Canada.  A couple months ago someone was transported home and they had to arrange someone to get their car at the port.  The one common thing everyone said about RCL is they worked with them to make the best of a bad experience.

I will pray for your family and wish you the best.

Has anyone done the "Island Roots, Honey and Chocolate Traditions" excursion from Cozumel? Wondering if it appeals to adults and to children.

Did you end up going on this excursion?  I am looking at going on it and do not want to waste my time.

  5. I have been cruising for a lot of years and leaned a long time ago that I should not worry about what others think.  My normal dinner attire is blue jeans and a polo shirt.  On the formal nights I do dress shoes, Khaki Pants and a button up shirt (no tie).  My mother never let us wear shorts at the dinner table, so I choose to not wear shorts or t-shirts.

Air to Sea has come through for us and booked us on a different airline to get to San Diego on time.  Crisis averted and a nice perk by going through the Air to Sea program by Royal Caribbean.

disclamer:  I am not a paid spokesperson for RCCL or Royal  Caribbean Blog.  Although I would like to be.

Thank you for adding this information.  I was thinking about changing my April flight away from Air2Sea because of a better flight and price but now I am leaving it alone.  Until we are way past Covid I think Air2Sea is a safe way to go.

When I booked our May northbound Alaska cruise, I had the choice to pick from several balcony cabins and I just randomly picked one on the port side but now that I thinking about it, seems we will only have a view of the open ocean for most of the trip and a room on the other side of the ship would probably be better.

Is this really something to worry about and is it possible still to switch to another open cabin now that its booked?

You can check your cabin at anytime up to your cruise.  My last cruise I changed my cabin 2 days before my cruise.  If you change categories you need to make sure of the price change.
