  1. I have been on several Mexican Riveria cruises, and it is rare to have bad weather. I just went in Thanksgiving and the only issue was the fog getting back into port. Going out of LA I never think about the time of year except for summer where it is extra hot.
  2. Thank you, Tom, for finding that information out. I was setting on 6 test kits that I thought would expire Feb 19 but now I can use them for my next 3 cruises. It is nice to hear they extended them for 6 months. Saving me money to spend on the ship.
  3. I use Air2Sea all the time, but their website is terrible. I have found that I can find a Celebrity Cruise that date and locations match my RCL cruise and search on the Celebrity site. You can do all the different options and figure out what you want. When I know what I want I call Air2Sea and book it. Note: I do not know how Celebrity Website can be so good and RCL be so bad. You would think they could share source code.
  4. The location on the app changed slightly. Here are new screen prints showing the location.
  5. I would go for the experience but I would make sure I had Travel Insurance. Travel Insurance should cover anything Royal does not cover. If you show up positive just look at it as an experience you can share with your grandchildren.
  6. I have read lots of places that I can change from a refundable deposit to a non-refundable deposit down the road but what happens to the price of the cruise. I book a cruise today for November 2023 with a refundable deposit and next year I am able to finalize my plans and can switch to non-refundable; do I get to keep my lower price if the cost of the cruise goes up or do I pay the price of the cruise at the time of the change?
  7. I have a GTY cabin on Feb 6 sailing. You think they would give me $100 to move me . Maybe they will have to put me in a Suite to make space
  8. Royal Caribbean Blog has a lot of Cruise Compasses (daily itinerary) for past cruises. You will get these everyday of your cruise and people send them into this site. Here is the latest one for your cruise. It is only a 7 day cruise and your is a 8 day cruise but it will give you an idea of what to expect. https://issuu.com/hochmania/docs/allure_of_the_seas_nov_14_2021_-_7_night_eastern If you look on the Daily Snapshot it will tell you the Dress Code for the day. On the 7 day cruise they are showing 1 Formal Night and 1 Dress Your Best Night. One note on Room Service: Most of the food is free but they charge you a flat fee or using room service.
  9. I am sorry this happened to you. It looks like you have similar attitude about this as I do. I always look at these things as experiences. You can always tell your kids this is an experience that not very many people have and a story they can tell. Their next cruise they can tell everyone about the time they traveled to California and their little brother tested positive. Life is a bunch of experiences good and bad. My thoughts are with your family, Mike
  10. Your cruise does not go under the CWC. I know this because I had to pay the $100 penalty for moving my July 4th cruise to June 13. It does not show on the main page but under the Questions and Answers. Here is the statement: Do all sailings qualify for “Cruise with Confidence”? Cruise with Confidence covers cruises booked on or before January 31, 2022, that set sail on or before May 31, 2022. View the Terms & Conditions
  11. I was just reading a report today that stated cloth masks and single ply masks do very little to protect you against the Omicron virus. I would get some N95 masks and wear them when you are around people. That way your chance of enjoying the entire cruise is higher. Amazon.com : N95 mask
  12. This might help you understand, and it comes from the Royal Caribbean site. How do I pay for onboard purchases? | Royal Caribbean Cruises
  13. Yours was not the only ship. MSC, NCL and Disney had troubled the day before and the same day as you. I know it does not make what happened to you and better, but the Bohemian government was blocking lots of ships this week. Disney had two ships in the same port one was able to let people off and the other one could not let passengers off. We are going to have a wild ride for a couple of weeks and unfortunately you were hit in one of the first waves.
  14. I have read a few accounts of people that have tested positive on their RCL cruise and have posted what they did. They have been different but common. Check with the cruise people and they should give you the entire process. In the ones that I have read they will leave you in the room until the other passengers are cleared. Then they will escort you off the ship with people sanitizing as you leave the ship. You will exit the ship by the second floor like excursions and not through the port. There will be a customs person there that will clear you without getting too close. Then they will put you on transportation that takes you to your house and stays with you until you get in your door. With that said... this is only based on what other people have posted and some had medical transportation, and some had medical flights home. The last one I read was flown home to Canada. A couple months ago someone was transported home and they had to arrange someone to get their car at the port. The one common thing everyone said about RCL is they worked with them to make the best of a bad experience. I will pray for your family and wish you the best. Mike
  15. Did you end up going on this excursion? I am looking at going on it and do not want to waste my time.
  16. I hope you do not mind me jumping in on this thread to get educated. In February I am going to have my first RCL Cruise that I have the soda drink package. I have always did the full drink package before. What I do not understand and hope you can educate me is why do you need a "Holder" and what do you use it for?
  17. I have been cruising for a lot of years and leaned a long time ago that I should not worry about what others think. My normal dinner attire is blue jeans and a polo shirt. On the formal nights I do dress shoes, Khaki Pants and a button up shirt (no tie). My mother never let us wear shorts at the dinner table, so I choose to not wear shorts or t-shirts.
  18. Thank you for adding this information. I was thinking about changing my April flight away from Air2Sea because of a better flight and price but now I am leaving it alone. Until we are way past Covid I think Air2Sea is a safe way to go.
  19. Make sure you put your phone in airplane mode. The ship will have Maritime Roaming and you do not want to get phone calls or text messages on the ship's roaming. It is very expensive.
  20. Here is a good video from Sheri at Cruise Tips TV that shows you everything you need to do the home test. I do not know if Royal Caribbean Blog has a video, I have not seen it but Sheri did a good job on this.
  21. When my 10-year-old son and I did our Panama Canal Cruise we spent three days in San Juan. We went to Old Town San Juan and had so much fun looking around and doing things that we went back the second day. I would highly recommend the Old Town and see the fort and the pigeon park.
  22. You can check your cabin at anytime up to your cruise. My last cruise I changed my cabin 2 days before my cruise. If you change categories you need to make sure of the price change.
