  1. If the isolation rules are still in place (and they haven't been announced, except on some European cruises like MSC), the cruise line will need to control your point-to-point movement when off the ship. If the isolation concerns expire, there shouldn't be an issue. Really need to wait for the Health Panel report/recommendations at the end of this month. That will provide ground truth on at least the restrictions if put in place.
  2. Guessing the priority of upper tiers and suites will be retained. Can't see why the separate queues wouldn't be maintained. New arrival times are most likely to prevent log jams as the health screenings are performed.
  3. When we boarded Liberty of the Seas this past March (last cruise before shutdown), there were temperature checks for all passengers as you entered the terminal. Bags were dropped off with the handlers before entering the terminal. As we all passed the check, we didn't experience how long it might take be reunited with the luggage in the event of being turned away.
  4. If pre-boarding testing occurs, do you check your bags before or after. If you're positive and you checked your bags, you'll have to waiting until they retrieve them.
  5. Seems that might be circumvented if they need to "meter" the people in and around the terminal.
  6. I have always liked the large optics. Still have the old time 35mm film SLR with a few lenses. But it hasn't seen the light of day since going digital. I've been hesitant to carry the larger set-up and carry 2 small cameras (GoPro and a small Panasonic digital movie camera). They're not the best, but for me, I'm making a space/weight trade-off. I can carry either in my palm or mount on a helmet during an excursion and capture HD pics or video. We try to travel light and even will carry on for a 7-day, so these pack nicely in a backpack compartment (with a couple of gig of SD cards I'm set to collect). Of course there's always the phone too. But that's too conspicuous sometimes.
  7. Hmm - its a way off but, independent touring at a port might be at risk even in August (- if things don't change, may need to stick to cruise line sponsored excursions). Yes small areas, but the better beaches down the road (protected by reefs).
  8. That's right - Nevis/St.Kitts - may be another line was SM
  9. Maybe the Health Panel plan will contain procedures that will enable the Bahamas to modify their timing.
  10. Didn't a couple of RCL ships get porting authority at St. Marten during this time?
  11. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/23492-cruise-ceos-call-for-return-to-service-in-united-states.html?fbclid=IwAR2-nhj8SBRdx8ZwNf54m1rcnkHkVuPfW0rLTnMBDR2otofSJToAsEKm5G4 According to the 10 Sept article above, the RCL should be submitting the CDC in plan a week to 10 days. Matt blogged the Health Panel should be releasing their report at the end of the month. 10 business days from now (9/12) is 25 Sept which is pretty close to the end of the month. Betting the CDC plan and Health Panel recommendations are concurrent.
  12. Building a house remotely is always an adventure too
  13. Saw exactly your example on a previous family cruise.
  14. Steak is good, the service is better than the MDR. I felt a more relaxed dining experience. it costs extra -- but its a vacation.
  15. Aids the island resort casinos at least. The port businesses will still be hurting.
  16. We'll have to see what the health panel comes up with, but betting line controlled excursions are going to be the rule when things first start up. Ports/destinations will probably have a large say in what the line can do, and most likely would have to agree to the cruise line's excursion risk mitigation plan. For now, I have no issue as its best to walk before running. We sail the Caribbean most of the time, so staying on the ship is fine. For other sailing localities I would pay for the cruise line sponsored excursion and respect the rules.
  17. Carnival dropped their South American cruises for rest of year; however, are becoming more bullish on Caribbean restart in Nov. I believe they submitted their plan to CDC. Royal hasn't yet, but they also just hired a new gov't relationship executive who will probably walk it over to them.
  18. The captains probably bet on who can drive the ship up on the shore the farthest
