I hope they can find a way to salvage the Alaska Season, but it isn't looking good. What is a good alternate Cruise to take closer to home (US/TX) that isn't the same ol' same ol' Cancun/Cozumel/Roatan?  I want to go new places and I don't think I can wait until Summer 2022 to go on a cruise vacation!

    Past Cruises:

    Norwegian Jewel 2012 Western Caribbean

    Norwegian Epic 2017 Western Caribbean

    Royal Caribbean 2019 Western Caribbean

    Canceled Cruise:

Royal Caribbean Ovation 2020 Alaska Glacier

    Future Cruises:

Royal Caribbean Ovation 2021 Alaska Glacier

    Norwegian Encore 2022 Eastern Caribbean

I got the vaccine yesterday and my husband is getting it Friday.  We have decided to go to a bucket list place.  Bora Bora and stay at the Four Seasons over water cabana.

Sorry to hijack the post but does SC get you to the front of the line on slides, carousel, and wall climbs?  Similar to Disney FP?

BTW, I loved the trip report by lovetocruise2002. Thank you.

Yes you get priority on the wall climbs, and we got priority on the dry slide.  Teh carousel doesn;t really have a line, but if it does you can proballly show your card.

  3. Can they not give you a room close to the gs ?  Here’s a thought. Since they claim 5 can fit then I would keep it and upon boarding take the roll away bed and set it up in the concierge lounge. Lol.

I was in a tennis cruise in independence. We had 8 women in both of the 2 bedroom grand suites on deck 6. There was another group of 8 women in one 2 bedroom grand suite. Apparently they were not happy having to sleep in a pull out and they ended up moving 2 of the women into a separate room. This happened after they boarded. So that could be an option as well. I think they may have more flexibility to move you.

    Hey all,

Sorry its been a little while. Life gets in the way sometimes I guess, LOL. ?‍♂️

I was watching the RC Blog Live stream "favorite drinks," and it got me thinking about some questions.

    1. What is the policy / etiquette for standing orders.

IE: Could we have a standing coffee, mimosa, or bloody marry order in the AM with breakfast? Or can I ask for the Drink of the Day at lunch, and just have it delivered                  to the suite everyday? Or are standing orders frowned upon, and we should just order the items we want when we want them?

Yes to standing orders.  The Drink of the Day may be not as easy.  We did have Starbucks delivered every morning on Harmony but were not allowed on Oasis,

    2. Also, I have read on other threads that some have had snacks, such as veggie trays, chocolates, and other snack type items waiting in the suite on embarkation day. So i have a couple questions. (assuming this is true)

              a. Do assorted snacks delivered to our suite continue throughout the entire sailing? Or should we plan to order them when we want them?

(I could see how standing orders, or orders that weren't requested, could be very wasteful. So I understand why they wouldn't do it; but also, if its done well it                          could be a really cool and luxurious amenity for a luxury trip.)

There are always a sushi and canape in the cabin.  Sometimes they show up, but you never know when.  We had standing orders everyday and ended up wasting a lot.  I would give the genie a heads up the morning or evening before versus standing based on your acitivites for the day.

              b. How do we actually order drinks / snacks to the suite? Do we call the room service number / use the TV? Do we call one of the restaurants or bars directly? Do we call the Genie with every little thing we would like?

I would have every thing go through the genie.  They know the order takers and can stress the importance rather than ordering yourself and waiting a very long time.

    Thanks again.

PS. Please, if at any point, my questions make me sound like we would be asking for too much let me know. My family is typically very self reliant and this is a departure from our norm. I might not be familiar with what is acceptable and what might be considered over the top. I am having to use my imagination a lot and that can be scary some times. LOL. Thanks as always.

PPS. I have decided that I will be doing some kind of VLOG or BLOG for this trip. I have never Vlogged or Blogged, and I am kind of terrified ? about how it will turn out. But I want to both document this trip, as well as try and give back to the RC Blog community. Anyone with more experience Bloggling or Vlogging please feel free to give advice. I am as new as it gets.

If the cruise you already booked is one that is eligible for the $$$ off coupon, then yes, you can rebook and used the $$ off coupon.  Just be aware that they will reprice your cruise and if the cruise fare has increased enough it may negate the value of your coupon.  Never hurts to try though !

Thanks. We are in the quantum of the seas to Alaska and there are no more grand lofts available so maybe they won’t reprice.

LOL!  Great minds think alike!  I had already mentioned this to my TA.  There is a very specific one I had in mind or I am jumping ship back to Brilliance, especially since they got rid of St. Lucia.

My tennis team stayed in the 2 aft ones on deck 6 and opened up the divider.  It was so nice to have such a large space and the upgraded interior   They all want to do it again.  For most of them it was the first time in a Suite.  Keep in mind the hot tub is not hot.  Just water.  It has no unit to keep the water hot.

Darn. There goes my corner GS on Brilliance. Indy doesn’t have one like that. Now what to do? I like the corner GS on Brilliance but I also like the 8 night itinerary. I could keep similar itinerary and let them move me to Indy, or keep the cabin and move to Brilliance out of Tampa. Any thoughts anyone?

Indy has the very nice 2 bedroom gs aft.  You may be able to request those.

  8. Also keep in mind anything special. I am sailing on my 30th wedding anniversary with my maid of honor and her husband. On our anniversary I was planning chops or cp 150 and have our wedding song played by the musicians that play in the park as a surprise for my husband. Not sure if he will remember or not  lol

I have another idea to celebrate my friends birthday as well one night as we are enjoying dinner on our aqua theater balcony.
My advice is to enjoy everything and come away with many precious memories.

I get free bags with Delta so my biggest reason for using SWA is the change policy involving fees.  SWA allows you to change flights without a fee although fare differences will apply.  Not ideal but a whole lot better than "I won't even speak to you about changing flights before charging you a $150 change fee" that most legacy carriers charge.

I change cruises all the time.  I might see a last minute deal for the cruise before or the next cruise after then I make it a B2B.  Being able to change flights without a fee for nothing is huge.

Delta has lost thousands of dollars of my business because of their $150 change fee.  This from a million miler on Delta.  In my case, the $150 change fee has cost them a lot more money compared to what it has made for them. Now I'm hooked on their competitor because of it and often don't even check their fares before booking SWA.

Check out the new Delta policy.  Not as great as Southwest but change fees are now gone.
