  1. I love the way you handled this and that you stuck to your agreement with your boyfriend's parents. Rare these days. Nice.
  2. I think so. The one on Anthem is not a full service restaurant for one thing...it is a store front kind of counter service thing. Was not impressed. Also, it is in a TERRIBLE location...almost as bad as the location of the Dog House on Anthem which is REALLY bad. I love the JR location on the O class ships - right on the Boardwalk. It's a fun place to sit and have a bite.
  3. Congratulations ! What a swell place to have a wedding !!!
  4. For $90 ? You betcha. Michelle repriced one for me recently that saved me $17. Now, in fairness...I did not realize that it would only be $17. I would not have bothered her with that...but she did it. $90 is definitely a reasonable reprice.
  5. I know that most of the ships have been screens around the pool area. Not sure about the very small ships but most of them do.
  6. I will tell one story at Dan's expense... (he won't care, anyway). MANY years ago we were on Radiance and for whatever reason (I can't remember but I think we had just gotten back from an excursion or something) we went to the MDR; Dan had on shorts and I can't remember what I was wearing but I am SURE it wasn't "dressy". The Maitre d' stopped Dan and told him "no shorts in the dining room". I went and sat down at our dining table and waited for him to come back. I will tell you this. Dan has NEVER EVER shown up in a dining room of ANY kind in shorts again since that day. He does not get dressed UP (unless it's formal night. The man loves his tux !) for dinner but by GOD he does not wear shorts EVER. He has been known to wear jeans on occasion but never shorts.
  7. You mean al-u-minium ? ? [Not laughing AT you, laughing WITH you]
  8. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that you will not know what the schedule of your particular cruise is going to be until you board. If you were on a ship with a reliable app (I don't think there is one of those in existence yet !) then you could be reasonably sure that you have a pretty good idea but there is just no way to know until you board - and even then sometimes they make last-minute changes. Old Cruise Compasses from previous similar sailings is a very good tool and probably even more reliable than any app at this point...but it's still not going to be exact. To me, that is why My Time Dining is such a wonderful option. You can make a reservation on a good faith estimate of what you think is going to occur, but if you find out, once you board, that your estimate was off slightly, then all you have to do is change your dining reservation to work around your entertainment schedule. I know that it's frustrating not to know exactly what your schedule will be but it also adds a pinch of spontaneity to the whole thing. ...and just remember that everyone is dealing with the same lack of information !
  9. Wow ! I didn’t realize they showed the nightly menus. Very nice.
  10. Welcome to the boards, JoolyG. I agree that this does not sound right. I would most DEFINITELY get a travel agent to deal with this. This is exactly what a TA is best at. michelle @mei-travel.com
  11. We will be there in early July (twice. b2b on NAV) but I’m probably a terrible resource for you as we never take pictures. Maybe I can coax Dan into snapping a few. I can no longer transfer photos from my iPhone...something to do with the iCloud and my refusal to pay them for additional storage space.... Anyway I will sleuth and see what’s what even if we don’t get any documented evidence. We leave on Jun 28 and return on July 5.
  12. MEI can book non-US clients. They have a special agreement
  13. We’ll. Be on NAV in 10 days and we have the DBP. I’ll check it out. Don’t look forward to a brawl but there will be one if they don’t include the shakes in the DBP. ??
  14. Yes, you can assuming that time slot is available. 9:00 shouldn’t be a problem.
  15. We are in 1758 on Oasis Dec 6. I have never been in one of these rooms before so really looking forward to it. I have heard of complaints of CK noise. Guess we’ll find our in Dec !
  16. Technically, no. However, you can always ask the restaurant manager or the Concierge if you might be permitted to bring a guest to dinner. Since you are in a JS you will have to check availability anyway. They are often generous if you are up front with them and considerate.
  17. Yes ! When we go to Grand Cayman, we take boxes of cereal with us to feed the fish at Paradise. The little fish love the cereal. The snooty tarpon ignore it. ??
  18. No. If you have the UDP you should be able to go to Chops (or whatever specialty restaurant is open on embark day). I have heard of a few singular instances where people with an UDP were turned away but that was early in the days of the new and improved UDP and this have never happened to me. I think each ship handles it differently though. Are you in a full suite (Grand Suite or higher) ? I always have the suite concierge make a reservation for us on embark day just to make sure that they are booked expecting us. You also should receive the “regular” lunch menu as opposed to the more limited Key lunch menu with the UDP.
  19. It is complimentary for Star Class guests and when we were on Anthem in Feb our Genie (Yen) kept asking us, night after night, if we wanted any popcorn for the show. As we were ALWAYS JUST coming from eating SOMEwhere, we were always WAAAYTOOO full to ever eat any popcorn. I wanted to....I love the smell of popcorn...but I was always busting a gut coming from some eating establishment or another.?
  20. We were on a cruise (Grandeur) once with a lovely lady who often cruises Azamara. Apparently, Azamara is a favorite of older, single, wealthy ladies. She told us that they always have young men (staff) who serve as dancing partners for these older ladies. She had a name for them (NO, not gigolos !!) and their sole job is to be dance partners as these ladies do not have dance partners of their own. She was the one who fascinated Dan with her stories of emperor penguins in the Falklands (I've related this story in numerous other posts). He has never forgotten her stories and standing next to an emperor penguin is now on his lifelong bucket list !
