  1. Yes, just once on each ship that I can recall. We are back on Liberty in Aug so I can check it out again then.
  2. The only ships where we have had problems with the taste of the ship’s water were Freedom and Liberty. I don’t know if it is just a coincidence that these are ships of the same class or not. The water on Lib started out tasting bad but got better a day 2 into the cruise. With Freedom, it never got better. Since we had the DBP we just got bottled water when we wanted water but not sure what one would do if the water was skunky and they did not have the DBP.
  3. For the past 4 or 5 cruises, we have not heard from our Concierge until 5 days prior. It used to be 7 days prior. My guess is that you will hear from them tomorrow. You will love the Owners Suite. It is a game changer, sorry to have to tell you. You will not be happy with anything less, again.
  4. Welcome to the Blog CruisinCravens !!
  5. That's a very good question. I think that because the ships where they have Star Class have so much more to do, we probably spend slightly less time in the casino when we are SC (or any other class, TBH). Since we really are not "show" people and don't enjoy trivia or The Quest or the pool, etc. on the smaller ships, there just really isn't much else for us to do EXCEPT for the casino. But on the big ships we find that we are more likely to find another activity that interests us. I think that's why we enjoyed Anthem so much on our B2B SC cruises. Even for 16 days in a row we found things we wanted to do....some of them more than once ! So I think it's fair to say that we are in the casino MORE on the smaller ships and LESS on the bigger ships. Probably not that much of a difference, really.
  6. The casino comp upgrades used to be awesome but since the beginning of this casino year (1Apr), they have sucked. Very disappointing
  7. Yes, Labadee has a complementary buffet lunch. All food on Labadee comes off the ship
  8. SOOOO agree with this. LOVED the different salts.
  9. Note about room service breakfast. I would NOT use the hanging breakfast order form if you intend to eat any eggs. If you use that order form and order eggs, you will get powdered eggs. If you are in a full suite and want breakfast room service, ask your Concierge for help in ordering. IF you call room service yourself and IF you are lucky enough to get anyone to answer (I never am), they will simply instruct you to use the hanging breakfast menu, which is no bueno. It's a waste of your time. Either ask the Concierge to order your breakfast for you or ask the Concierge for a number to call where you will get someone to answer (they have their own points of contact) ! Make sure you tell them you want REAL eggs. There is nothing worse on the entire ship than those nasty powdered eggs.
  10. I think there was a short time where they had a suites-only area near South Beach but it never had anything but a few loungers. I don't think they even had any umbrellas there. It never looked like any place I would want to go so we didn't even ask about it when we were on NAV a few weeks ago. My guess is that even if they had it before, now that they have "closed" South Beach for construction, it is no longer there anyway. I would ask the Suites Concierge before you board about a suites area. I think you will get a "no" answer.
  11. There was just a discussion in a different thread about this very issue. If you are already in a balcony, I would not recommend bidding on a RoyalUp for another balcony category. I have read of people who paid big $$ to a RoyalUp to a different balcony category just to find that it wasn’t really an upgrade at all. If you are in a balcony and want to bid on a RoyalUp, I recommend you only bid on a cabin that is a Junior Suite or higher. That way you KNOW that it will be an upgrade. I have seen RoyalUp offers for balcony categories that do not even exist on the ships that they are being advertised for ! I say stay away from “same cabin type” upgrades and sick with ones that you know will be an upgrade.
  12. Just watch out for those little sticky tags they put in your clothes. They really scratch !
  13. I agree with you. I think it’s too cool in the Bahamas in the wintertime to go into the water.
  14. Unless it’s unavoidable, MOST often, formal nights are on sea days vs days when the ship is in port. I would expect that your formal night would not be a night when you are in Barbados unless there’s just no other night to have it.
  15. Dan and I both get 5 weeks (200 hours) plus 11 federal holidays so a total of ~7 weeks. The very fortunate part of our vacation schedule is that we can go any time we want to go. Our only limitations are around our own work priorities.
