  1. I wondered the same thing. I think there is a protocol in place that requires to Capt. to report any sick pax or crew. My guess is that, in the past, they didn't really worry that much about this issue, but b/c of recent events, they (the ports) are now enforcing it strictly.
  2. Hey, Steph. I do recall someone posting about this exact thing about a week or 2 ago.
  3. Nope. You CAN delay purchasing the internet but once you buy it, you must buy it for the remainder of the voyage.
  4. The bus driver(s) will have a list of people who have paid and they will just check you off when you arrive. I'm pretty sure you should just stay on for another week....
  5. I wouldn’t hold my breath for any significant changes. To my knowledge the Chops Menu hasn’t changed in a decade with possible addition of the (extra $$) seafood tower.
  6. My son is also an EMS FF in Beaufort, SC. He is a Captain now ! Yippee
  7. I agree with Twangster, that a great deal of her “rare in-person-appearance” is probably due to the location of the ATS. I have noticed a distinct reduction of in-person Genie visits when we have been in ATS. Should you be penalized b/c you are so far away ? Of course not but in practicality, it’s a long haul all the way back there. ...and there are 6 such SC suites on the O class. That’s a lot of hiking. But I will say, even when the Genie missed us in the suite, he would find us at least twice during the evenings when we were out. It kind of evens out. To be honest, Dan hates the Genie interruptions so he’s just as glad when they don’t just “pop by”.
  8. Freedom suites will not include any of these (when you say “meals” I assume you mean specialty dining). Sky class, on the Oasis and Quantum class ships will include internet but only Star Class includes internet, specialty dining and Deluxe Beverage pkgs
  9. The rules definitely require you to initialize your UDP on nights 1 or 2 BUT I have read and heard that they are flexible about this. Once on board you should be able to have them switch things around. ...but, as Matt Says, be prepared for “no” as that is the official answer.
  10. On Oasis in December we had Joyce order BBQ from port side and have it delivered to the suite. It was passable, for me, but I thought the macaroni and cheese was awful. I had pulled pork and Dan had the brisket. Without a doubt, the brisket was better of those 2. The pork was pre-sauced and I am actually not much of a BBQ sauce fan. I prefer my pulled pork au naturale. Next time I intend to try it on site. I think it will be better, fresh. Speaking of the hot tub, we never even turned ours on. I was afraid I would kill myself getting in/out of the thing and it seemed as if it might take forever to fill....the truth about which I will not know, since I never tried.
  11. OMG, I am so sorry to hear this !
  12. ....and here I thought your handle had something to with WDW !
  13. I’m not saying that these corporations aren’t negatively impacted by the CV hysteria. They certainly are - particularly those with manufacturing alliances with China BUT I also believe that the institutional traders are using this issue to manipulate a market that has been broadly oversold for some time. I have never been more grateful to have gotten out of the market back in October of last year.
  14. I see what you did there... ??
  15. I concur with AshleyDillo. The reason that you are not eligible for Star Class RoyalUp bids is b/c your “baseline” cabin is a balcony. Were you already in a full suite, the chances are you would be eligible for SC RoyalUps. We upgrade complimentary casino cruises to SC all the time. It REALLY helps to have a Travel Agent who understands the casino comp rules. At this point, I suspect that your only option for getting the RLS is to upgrade yourself. I’m not sure what “host” you are referring to, but if it is someone used to dealing with casino comp upgrades, and he/she verified that your total cost to upgrade is $9K, then that’s probably accurate. The RLS is the most expensive suite on the ship. Paying $9K total for that room is a bargain - a seriously good bargain. I feel sure (without taking the time to look it up) that it would cost more than $9K per person to buy outright. As for the differences between a Grand Suite and an Owners Suite, it is only real estate - a bigger cabin. It also comes with a full size inside dining table and usually fancier loungers on the balcony. There are no additional suites perks with the OS versus GS. The only suite class that includes all specialty dining and Deluxe Beverage pkgs is Star Class.
  16. Yippee ! Did you see the post where we got the DBP for $48 for that cruise ? I cancelled the refreshments pkg and got the DBP. We’ll definitely be sharing a couple of cocktails !
  17. Unfortunately, I don't think so. I wish they would keep it. The full service Sabor is soooooo much better than the cantinas they put on the O class ships.
  18. That sounds like a pretty good plea deal to me. He's a fool if he doesn't take it.
  19. Thanks ! Too bad Royal doesn't even show this on their deck plans online. Pretty sad !
  20. Welcome to the blog, Ali !!!
  21. Hmmmm... I've never even heard of an After Deck Bar on Deck 17. Maybe it is all the way forward where the Suites sun deck area is ? Does that bar have a name ? If it is located in the Suites sun deck area, then no - JS would not be able to get into that area. If it somewhere else, I just don't know about it. I find it hard to believe that they would allow cigar smoking in the Suites Sun deck area unless it's something special after the sun deck area closes for the evening.
  22. I guess the question I would ask is....if you guys were able to find the soft pretzels TWICE, why hasn't Smitha been able to find them, too ??
