  1. Michael, you will be getting on the ship while we are getting off. ?
  2. Welcome to the blog, Mery In the World !
  3. LOL. I always cringe when I see someone write "mute point" when they mean "moot point".
  4. YIPPEE !! First cruise....so exciting ! As Cruisegirl1976 said, a great deal depends on the time of year you are traveling/cruising. Also a factor....whether or not you have any connections or if the flights are nonstop. Most regular cruisers will advise that it is BEST to arrive at the port [area] a day in advance of sailing but we all know that it's not always possible to do that. If all goes as scheduled, you will be fine. If, however, you are traveling in the winter months and you have connecting flights somewhere, your risk is significantly increased. Just to show you that I am complete hypocrite, next month (arguably the coldest and most unpredictable month of the year) I am traveling from DCA to Newark via Charlotte on sail day...so I have violated all of the recommendations that I just made to you. ...but I like living on the edge. #notreally
  5. Prices for my sailings are all over the place. Some things are up, some things are down but most are the same. Typical
  6. Of course, this is impossible to know. I don't think it's any less safe than it has been for the past decade. We have to trust that the last thing that Royal Caribbean would want would be a ship full of passengers at risk. The second to the last thing that Royal Caribbean would want would be to have to refund their money if they cancel the cruise so it's a matter of risk management.
  7. Back when we were cruise rookies, we once missed a tour b/c we didn't read the tickets to see where we were supposed to meet. We thought that all tours met on the pier so off we went. If we had read our tickets we would have seen that we were supposed to meet our tour in the theater. Luckily, they put us with a group from a Celebrity ship that was leaving just a bit later and we were good-to-go. Lesson learned. ALWAYS read your ticket to find out where your're meeting your tour !!
  8. I don't recall there being a lot of food. I certainly didn't leave hungry. I guess it depends on what you order.
  9. Welcome to the blog, Jacie5. No, unfortunately, Vision does not have free chat.? Yes, if you have a 4 device package, any 4 people on any 4 devices can be "on" at the same time. It doesn't matter which room they are in or which devices are activated. If you just want 1 person from each of the rooms to be able to communicate with the other 3, this should work.
  10. There are no stupid questions on this site ! Glad to have you on board ! I can’t help you with your question. Wouldn’t know a DSLR cannon from a DSLR rocket. Just a little projectile humor there... Twangster and Joe Moran will, no doubt, be your best help on this one. They’ll be along soon...
  11. Oh....that seafood looks delicious. Even at 0100 hours. Enjoying your blog very much.
  12. Hey, Jackie. Welcome to the blog. Very sorry to hear of your loss, but glad you are getting back out with a friend. I think it will be a great getaway for you. You will book any drink (or food, excursion, etc) package in your Cruise Planner, found in your cruise booking online. That is also where you will check prices. There is really no way to know whether any price will go up, go down or stay the same. You just have to check the prices frequently. The usual advice that you will hear from experienced cruisers is, book it at a price that you are comfortable with and keep checking to see if the price goes down. If it does, you can cancel your purchase and rebook at the lower price. You just never know what Royal is going to do with pricing ! It’s anyone’s guess. Good luck and my wishes for an enjoyable and therapeutic cruise for you and your friend.
  13. Choice is one of the tier levels for the casino players club. If you have ever played in the casino, you are automatically enrolled in the program. I’m guessing that your second friend has never played in a RC casino.
  14. The only C&A tier that they recognize on the cruise where you achieve it, is Pinnacle and even that one is not a guarantee. All of the other tier levels are realized on the cruise following the one where you achieve it.
  15. We had a wedding party on one of the cruises when we were in one of the A1 ATS. The bride and groom asked us if they could take some wedding pix on our balcony. Of course, we agreed. They came and took the photos during the Cabin Crawl, so we had a party going on already. It was a great event.
  16. You can have your grats included in your cruise price at the same time that you book your cruise. We always do this immediately so that the grats are already included when we pay off the cruise. We usually give our room attendant an extra $50 for a 7 night....just a round number. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We rarely ever have a bad one, but they do pop up from time-to-time.
  17. Actually, checking your flight info periodically is a good idea. Lately, there have been many changes to my airline reservations. Some are minor - just a few minutes one side or the other of the original flight time, but sometimes the changes are significant enough that I must call them and change my reservation. It seems to be happening more and more often,
  18. I continually get confused about which perks are related to D+ and which are related to being in a suite...so I cannot be sure whether the bridge, galley and entertainment (theater) tours are related to being in a suite or not. I believe that suite guests are invited to do the tours though. I would ask this question when the suites Concierge contacts you prior to the cruise (usually 5 days prior to sailing). They will confirm it for you then. Others with better memories will probably answer before then.
  19. Not that I'm trying to "extra" you to death, but I believe that the Unlimited Dining Package on NAV is a great deal. I LOVE Hooked...if you, your brother and father enjoy seafood, it's really a treat. Not only do you get all of your dinners in specialty restaurants, but you also get lunch on embarkation day and on any sea days. We even found that Izumi was open on some of the port days so there is a lot of value (IMO) in the UDP on NAV. Since you're all in suites, you will get breakfast daily in Chops, which is a huge step up from any of the other breakfast locations. I hope your dad is super surprised and that he feels completely pampered. Does your brother know you've upgraded everything ?
