  1. No, I didn't. I purchased the refreshment pkg back when Dan wasn't drinking ANY alcohol and the price on the UBP hasn't come into earth orbit quite yet. If it comes down a bit more I might do it, though...
  2. I'm teetering on buying the DBP for our May Majesty cruise. It's currently at $51. The refreshment package (which I've already purchased) cost $19. So, it would cost an extra $32 PP/PD. With Dan drinking little to no alcohol these days, I just don't think it would be worth it. I did catch him (joke, of course) drinking a beer the other day but honestly, he has literally quit drinking almost altogether. I will have a drink if I want one, but really don't care that much about it, either. I think I will just stick with the refreshment package and resist the urge to take advantage of a good DBP price. It's only a bargain if you use it, right ? TALK ME OUT OF THIS !
  3. I love when countries sing their treaties. That's the MOST fun ! ?
  4. Looks like you did the right thing. It's always easy to cancel if you decide, down the road, to do that. ....but waaay more painful to pick up a reservation once the prices have started to rise. I wish I listened to my own advice more often... ?
  5. It sure appears as if the UDP would be a better deal, to me. You would get lunch on embarkation day and lunch on any sea days. Depending on the ship and its policies, you might even get lunch on some port days. I know when we were on NAV last summer, we got Izumi [lunch] twice when we were in port.
  6. Yep...I was afraid the cost might be prohibitive, but it was worth a shot. I guess you will have to decide if it is worth $400 to get the room you want.
  7. It IS possible to have your booking transferred from the non-repricing TA to MEI but I will advise that it is not easy. Basically, the non-repricing TA has to release the booking and they are usually not inclined to do that, willingly. It is worth a try though...and it may send a [much-needed...MO] message to the non-repricing TA that the service you are getting from them is not adequate. Bravo to you for going with MEI. You will not be sorry. Sometimes the lessons we have to learn on our own are painful.
  8. As long as you are not yet past final payment you can have your room repriced....even if your category is sold out. This is where a travel agent is invaluable, but if you booked on your own, just call Royal and ask them to evaluate whether you can save money or not. It’s possible that the current price for your category will be high enough that even with a higher OBC, it would not make $$ sense to reprice. You won’t know unless you ask.
  9. Sure. They do not police who is sleeping where....but just realize that those who are from the second room would not be eligible for the suite benefits.
  10. Do you have a refundable deposit ? If so, there doesn’t seem to be anything keeping you from cancelling before final payment. If you have a nonrefundable deposit, I guess you will have to decide if the $$ loss is worth your peace of mind.
  11. It depends on the ship. Most cabins do NOT have any power outlets near the bed but some of the newer ships do. Some cabins have a power outlet under the bed on the wall. If you use a CPAP, be sure and alert Royal Caribbean by sending an email to [email protected]. Let them know that you will need both an extension cord and distilled water and they will have both for you when you arrive. If they are not in the cabin when you get there, let the attendant know that you are supposed to have them and the attendant will get them for you.
  12. IMO, if the overall cost of the cruise comes down, even if the cruise fare increases, it is still a "win".
  13. That’s very odd. When we were on Anthem last Dec, Yen gave us invitations to all 3 tours (galley, bridge and theater). We declined all of them since we’ve done those tours many times. I wonder if Alan misunderstood your request.
  14. Evil is a bit strong ?? I like the way you think. We were just in the Grand Panoramic and I will say, flat out, it is the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in (sorry...not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition). It’s big, comfortable, convenient and unique. Only Allure and Oasis have the Owners and Grand Panoramics. Plus...no stairs. Only 1 BR though.
  15. Chops has a cover charge - set fee. Lunch is less expensive that dinner but the menu is also abridged. You can order as many appetizers, sides and desserts as you want, but just 1 main course/entree. You are welcome !
  16. There are 4 ways to eat lunch at Chops on embarkation day 1. Purchase the meal in the Cruise Planner and pay full price 2. Purchase The Key which includes a specialty lunch venue. Likely, this meal will be served in the MDR vs the restaurant. 3. Purchase an Unlimited Dining Package (or be Star Class) 4. Walk up to Chops upon boarding and hope they accommodate you. You would pay full price for this meal. Please note that when we were recently on Oasis and Chops was closed on embarkation day. Only those guests with the Key were served Chops lunch; it was served in the MDR. As far as I am aware, the Chops on other ships are still open on embarkation day.
