  1. Yes, 12 bottles of water and 2 bottles of wine/champagne per room. Not in checked luggage. Carry on.
  2. One banana, two banana, three banana, four. Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more....
  3. I'm sitting at the airport reading this. Here are my flight tips. Have your S/O carry a backpack, instead of a purse. That keeps hands free. Depending on your airline, you probably each can take a personal item (backpack/purse) and a carry-on. Put the things in your carry on that you can't live without in case they lose your checked bags. Research each airport you're traveling to by going to their websites. That way you'll be a little familiar with them. Allow plenty of time and ask airline employees for help if you feel a little unsure. Don't let the TSA employees bother you...they seem a little grumpy. Have a great time!
  4. Be sure to read the fine print. When I used my points for OBC, I could only apply it to a cruise I had booked within the past 30 days. Plan accordingly.
  5. Can you find another person? You can change passengers.
  6. Excellent review @NJCruisers Thank you for posting. I'll refer back to it often.
  7. This article is from Primerahor.com I have no idea who it is, but this is the article people are referring to. Millionaire losses due to cancellation of more than 90 cruise visits By Primerahora.com11/26/2019 | 08: 10 am "There are still important companies like Carnival that have not expressed themselves, so the effect of cancellations can reach 500,000 passengers. The damage to the economy can exceed $ 100 million dollars," Matos García concluded. (Archive) "These cancellations come to us by surprise," said the head of Tourism, who explains what the governor's instruction is in this situation. The representative for Carolina and spokesman of the Popular Democratic Party in the Tourism Commission of the House of Representatives, Ángel Matos García, denounced through a press release the mass cancellation of dozens of visits and departures of cruise ships from the docks of San Juan to the 2020-2021 season. "Unfortunately since last Friday it has begun to confirm the cancellation of dozens of visits and departures of cruise ships from Puerto Rico, affecting thousands of direct and indirect jobs throughout the island," said the representative. At WKAQ, the director of the Authority for Public Private Partnerships (APP), Fermin Fontanet, said they knew of numerous cancellations but did not accept that it was related to the privatization attempt. ADVERTISING The cancellation list is headed by the Royal Caribean company with about 90 visits canceled, this represents about 360,000 people less and an impact of about $ 44 million to the economy of Puerto Rico. "In addition to the canceled transit visits, 30 base departures (home porting) are being canceled, which decreases the options for Puerto Rican families who do nautical tourism and affect the profitability of rooms before and after the crossing of tourists traveling to the country. One of the ships affected by this decision is the Freedom of the Seas, which is so popular on the island, "he said. Other cruises that announce the cancellation of visits to the island are the Allure of the Seas and Symphony or the Seas, both with a capacity of over 6,000 passengers. "All this is mainly the fault of the public-private alliance (PPP), which the government proposes to privatize the operations on the docks of San Juan and Ponce, knowing the opposition of the shipping industry and still insists on granting. there are important companies like Carnival that have not expressed themselves, so the effect of cancellations can reach 500,000 passengers. The damage to the economy can exceed $ 100 million. I urge Governor Wanda Vázquez to reconsider this privatization. " Matos García concluded in his press release. In the same radio station, the director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), Carla Campos, said that the reality is that "we have a need to improve our infrastructure" because although with the docks they look good, the reality is that What is traditionally done are patches. ADVERTISING Campos added that "the governor (Wanda Vázquez) has given a clear instruction" that "we have to maintain the dialogue" between the cruise lines and the government. He said it all started with an unsolicited proposal for improvements to the docks that began, under a 2009 law, to open a competitive process for various bidders to offer to make these improvements. There are four companies under evaluation, he said. "We were very surprised ... we have had an open dialogue with the cruise lines ... these cancellations come as a surprise," said the head of Tourism. He said there is a historical background that large cruise companies finance improvements in ports in exchange for some control of those docks. The current improvement process would be contrary to that practice, and it is the turn that other major tourist destinations such as Bahamas have begun. On the other hand, through a press release, the mayor of Loíza, Julia Nazario Fuentes expressed herself before the mass cancellation of dozens of visits and departures of cruise ships from the San Juan docks for the 2020-2021 season. "Since last September there has been a warning call from the tourism industry for the bad decision to privatize the operations on the docks of San Juan and Ponce through a private public alliance, which would increase costs for the industry We are starting to build a tourism development strategy through the visits of cruise tourists, who in the few hours on the island can visit our tourist and gastronomic attractions, "said the mayor.
  8. No, the date on this story is today, November 26, 2019
  9. I saw the article posted from a newspaper in SJ
  10. The worst thing I ever forgot was lip sunblock! Don't know why I was without it, but I was miserable.
  11. It's a good 40 miles from Galveston to Hobby. Keep that in mind when looking at Lyft or Uber.
  12. If you've never sailed from NOLA, you should give it a try. It's fun to sail down the river in the evening and wake up in the ocean. It's been many years since I sailed on Majesty so I honestly can't say much about the smoke. I'd bet it's noticeable based on what @twangster said.
  13. Freedom. 5/2020...less than 180 because I finally cashed in my RC points from my credit card Yes, I did!
  14. We usually fly, even though we live in Houston. You can only go to the Western Caribbean from Galveston so many times ? . I'm going to question your AirBnBs over hotels unless you're staying for more than one or two nights. I've found their cleaning charges & fees are often more than hotels taxes (however, sometimes you really can find a great deal in the off season). We choose hotels with breakfast included instead of eating out. If we eat out the night before, we split an entree or only order appetizers knowing we're going to eat heavy all week and we drink water instead of drinks. Try to book your stay as close to the port as possible if paying for an Uber. We also stay at hotels that offer shuttle service from the airport to the hotel to save on Uber or taxi fees. Finally, we include all the charges you mentioned in the price of the vacation and really try not to worry about the additional costs. Vacations ARE expensive even when we're being frugal. We also have the added cost of pet sitting which is really outrageous. I'll be watching this thread for more money saving ideas.
  15. Your passport stays with you during the check-in process.
  16. If they took smoking out of the casino, I'd spent WAY MORE time and money there!
  17. I forgot to mention a restaurant. We have eaten at Gladys' Cafe and loved it! Lots of shopping near there. You'd need to taxi to it.
  18. Meagan's Bay is beautiful & you'll see much of the island riding a taxi to it. Ferry to St. John to visit Trunk Bay. Our favorite excursion is thru VI Ecotours. It's 3 activities include an easy kayak thru the mangroves, a hike (it's a walk) to a beautiful edge of the island then a short snorkel session. You could stay on the beach. Then you kayak back. Sometimes this excursion is on the planner. If not you can book thru VI Ecotours. It's also a short drive so you'd see a bit of the island. I haven't been since the hurricane.
  19. This is so refreshing to read! I think many of us have been a bit brainwashed about staying on the ship. We find something new to do each time we go to Nassau.
  20. We took a taxi to South Friars Bay beach. Our group and a couple of other cruise ship people were the only vacationers there! The others were locals. There's a small restaurant called "Shipwreck Beach Bar". When we went, it was the only place to eat or drink, but I see more places on the map now. This beach has black sand.
  21. We had a fabulous day using Bumpiing (yes, 2 i's) Tours. I can't remember what all the stops were, but I do remember going to Trafalger Falls, Emerald Pool & Titou Gorge. We had 3 teenage boys with us and they still talk about this tour being fun. It's a beautiful island!
