  1. I did this once as it worked out in my favor as I booked in CAD, but got a OBC in USD...so I "made" money. I still haven't actually taken the cruise I booked and have moved it around a few times now. But no harm in taking advantage of it when its a really good deal or offer. I will prob look into seeing what they are offering during my next cruise again
  2. well at $12 a drink(which is what most of my drinks are) it adds up quickly...throw in some bottled water and some wine with supper yeah. Now that being said, I have only done 4 and 5 day cruises....not the 7 nights which would be a little different I am sure. And I don't drink much at all off the ship either, I save it all for on board.
  3. 33 drinks goes quick....at least on my cruises it does... I always get the drink package....and usually break even for the cruise on the first day.....everything else after that is "free".....haha
  4. haha...it does seem like a hassle to have to go back to the room and put on socks and long pants....prob why I didn't do it the first cruise.....we'll see what happens this time. But the ice shows are pretty good. I thought they would be cheesy...but they were all pretty good skaters and put on a good show...and u don't need to wear long pants or socks to watch that so...lol
  5. Interesting that NCL will offer overnight...that would make it a lot more tempting.... And to have the drinks included, even more so..... And I bet the price will still be cheaper than RCI..... Would be nice to see RCI turn one of their smaller ships into an all inclusive option for sure no matter where it would go.
  6. One thing the drink card would come in handy for is when/if you want to buy a drink for friends or family or buy a round at the bar type thing. No option to do that with the drink package(well unless you want to pay full price for each drink) Had friends that got engaged on a previous cruise and wanted to buy them a glass of champagne each...you would have thought I was asking them to turn the ship around....no way they wanted to do it....even when I told them to charge it to my card.....they still didn't want to "give" me more than one drink at a time So perhaps in that situation a drink card would have been nice to have.
  7. I would probably prefer the a la carte option.....but if they are going to charge me $30 I am going to eat my money's worth for sure!...lol I am going to have the drink package so hopefully the drinks in there will be included or that would be a deal breaker I think.
  8. Yeah....but according to my cruise planner..it is $30 to book it..and then it lists the menu prices for each option on the menu. I am guessing is has to be a glitch, but would be nice to know ahead of time which pricing it is.
  9. So I was looking at Sabor for my upcoming cruise on Navigator....looks like its $30/person plus you pay for every item of food you eat. Am I missing something? that seems pretty expensive and not the way the others are set up. Usually its a la carte pricing with no cover, or you pay a cover and its all included. Anyone know why it would be different on Navigator?
  10. Same experience on Indy...it filled up quickly and I only remember it being offered twice during the 5 day cruise. I am going to be on the same cruise as you on Navigator and am thinking I may try and give it a try this time. I am going with a first time cruiser so I am sure she is going to want to check out everything as well!
  11. I am following Rick on his cruise on Navigator as I will be cruising on her in Jan...but I don't think they ever do the drink cards on the shorter cruises?!
  12. My advice would to be not book anything else for that day there, and maybe even cancel one of those things. 4 different things booked/planned is a lot of cram in imho. That's a lot do ....and seeing as its your first time there and first cruise you should allow yourself some downtime for sure between things and to allow for unplanned or unforeseen things that may not be exactly how you expected them to be.
  13. Its a great hang over option....haha...really enjoyed it on Majesty and Independence......while breakfast would be awesome to try there, I am happy that there is a JR's on Navigator so I won't complain that its not open for breakfast!
  14. reading through this thread as me craving some Johnny Rockets!! So glad there is one on the Navigator for my Jan cruise! But I did want to ask/confirm...its only on the Oasis class ships that they are open for breakfast and there is no charge?
  15. Havana for a day isn't really that exciting. I have been to Cuba many times, and only visited Havana once and don't care if I am ever there again. I get the fact that its been forbidden as a rule for most Americans, so the intrigue is there. But I wouldn't spend extra or pay more for any cruise that stops there over any other place in the Caribbean. If you could spend an overnight perhaps or if it docked at a few different places around Cuba allowing you to see their amazing beaches then perhaps.
  16. Any cruise with RCI is great!! SO much to do and see and experience. I am sure after your first cruise is done, you will be ready and willing to book anything to anywhere...haha But yes, there are so many different ships options and port options and price options of course, its going to be hard to decide. Good luck...you'll enjoy it I am sure!
  17. I have been to Cuba many times for vacation.....while it is great place, I can't justify paying almost double the price of what a normal 4 or 5 day cruise is with RCI, just to stop in Havana for a day. But its nice option for those that have always wanted to visit there. I am sure with time it will come down in price or as the competition is allowed in as well.
  18. Yeah, only certain wines covered in the package and Vintages has many that are not. So I wouldn't take a chance using the machine, could be a costly experiment!
  19. I'll add to the "not weird" crowd as well. I have only done one booked excursion yet in all my cruises. I did have another one booked for the stingrays in Cayman, but due to weather we never made it there. Usually I am much more of a get off the ship and explore type of person. I do my research ahead of time as to what I want to check out, where I want to eat or good watering holes. But I do enjoy the ship so much that it is nice to get back before everyone else as it is much quieter and less line ups for everything. At any new port, even if I didn't have an excursion booked I would want to at least get off for a cpl hours to say you have actually been there and to experience or sample a little something from that country.
  20. Looking to add some cruise countdown tickers to my profile like I have on CC, but it wont accept them in any form for some reason. I see others on this site have them so there must be a way. Any tips or help with this? Thanks in advance.....
  21. Interesting....I am not lying.....on one cruise we would literally hang out there for 3-4 hours a day/night either playing or watching people play and no one won anything ever. And I have been on 9 cruises and have yet to see a winner. I think you have better luck on Bingo!....lol
  22. FLL can be very expensive...much like Miami......doesn't seem to matter what time of year. even with the multiple hotel sites I use and member of various rewards programs its the most expensive places I have ever stayed at. And I am not talking for a 5 star resort. Maybe I have been spoiled everywhere else I have stayed over the years, but its a tough pill to swallow when one night in a hotel can cost as much as my cruise!
  23. My plan involves checking daily.....but its never really about the deal on the cruise for me. It's the airfare to get there from Canada which can be insane. I do try to book out as far as I can, with low deposit deals and lots of time to watch for price drops or upgrades and keep an eye on flights. However, my most recent booked cruise for January was booked early in the morning after a few bottles of wine...and it turned out to be my cheapest flight and cheapest cruise yet....so maybe there is something to Klaconqueso's method of booking!!..haha
  24. Just changed my Jan 2017 cruise from Enchantment on the 30th to Navigator on the 29th of Jan....thanks!
  25. Just realized I didn't post once back from Independence.....it did have one. Wasn't very busy anytime I was there. And nothing under the stars events that I saw listed anywhere. Had some higher end drinks there as well...I didn't inquire as they were not covered in my drink package from what I could tell...haha I am heading out on Navigator in January so hoping theirs is still open. It was a nice place to go and relax for a bit.
