  1. Yup..its defn a great tip if the pool bar is crazy or busy, chances are if you walk a few more steps around to the solarium bar its a lot less busy and quicker. And defn easier to chat and get to know the bartenders there which is a plus for sure. Ships that have Sky bar's I really like..not as busy as the pool bar and great views from up there too!
  2. Had it on Indy last year. It was on the room service menu too as I had it a couple times as well that way. really hoping its on Navigator next week!
  3. I was implying that YOU wouldn't want to cruise while pregnant if you were not even wanting to cruise while you were trying to get pregnant. Not that people can't or don't. Sorry if my response wasn't clear, but neither was your original post I guess. If your original statement had said looking to change BUT for the same date, just different location....then it would have been more clear. And just for the record...you can go wherever you want..its just a risk. But there are risks for everything, anywhere you travel. Or at home for that matter. Oh, and the real answer to your question is no, not after the final payment date.
  4. Wow, hard to believe it could be that serious from doing normal duties....but it is a ship and at sea so anything can happen I suppose. Good to hear she is going to be ok!
  5. I don't know how far out you are trying to delay the cruise is the question. You cant cruise while trying to get pregnant, you prob wont want to cruise while your pregnant and then your prob not going to want to cruise with a newborn?! So we are talking years down the road, or you simply want to change the cruise to a different location without the Zika warning for right now? Also, Zika news has been widespread for awhile now and it sounds like you have been trying for awhile to get pregnant, so it may have been something to look into when booking/planning your cruise initially. That being said, Royal is pretty on top of the Zika issue and take it serious so you may be able to get them to help you change your booking.....all you can do is ask/try at this point. And do it ASAP, so if they say no, at least you don't leave everything.
  6. It prob depends on what time of year as to when you will feel the warm weather. I know I have looked into this cruise option as well (because of the drive option as well, although not 8 hours from my home but closer than Florida!) Most people say it takes about 2 days to get to the warmer weather...so on a 12 day cruise, u can expect about 8 days of warmer weather.
  7. Oh yeah..it just goes on my Seapass card, and then I do a withdrawal at the Casino cash cage.....I set my account up as a "cash" account, thereby avoiding the 5% cash advance fee they charge if its a credit card on file..... At least that's what I did the past few cruises I did and it seemed to work out ok....hope this is still the case!
  8. I wonder if this is fleet wide?.... While I admit it makes more sense in that a sticker can wear or fade off and it is a pain to have to stand in line at guest services to get another one, I kinda liked how it looked on the seapass card. I pre-paid for my drink package for my upcoming cruise so see what it looks like when I get to check in!
  9. You can book now to be safe, and then if its a better deal next week when onboard re-book with the better promo? I am on the same cruise as you and will be defn looking at booking something else for the %50 deposit plus scoring some OBC onboard to use at the casino! Can always change it later once off the ship to a different date/cruise.
  10. Yeah you may find it for that....you'll have to do lots of price watching and checking multiple sites. But it is a busy season and high demand. One thing to consider is to book in advance and if it drops you can re-book at a lower price(up to 90 days out I think)
  11. Why I have I not heard of this or don't know about it?! free FB game that you can take free cruises with by simply playing and not paying?! I could sit and play slots all day online...lol
  12. I check about 4-5 sites daily......so yeah, bad I know! And I check while at work as well at home. I check Royal's of course....as well as Vacationstogo and Crusiecon.....I also check for deals through a cpl travel companies that charge in CAD locally here..... Of course I log in to check my C&A deals, but haven't had much luck with those yet. That being said, I have managed to save myself a few $$ on a cpl cruises by checking around. I enjoy doing it, so even if I don't find savings its still enjoyable for me.
  13. I have stayed at resorts on Jamaica and know first hand how pushy they are....stayed at a 4.5 star resort where they had security standing in the water to keep the pushy locals away..the would literally go stand in the water for hours and wait for you to swim out and harass you to buy stuff..lol My last visit to Jamaica was on a cruise last Jan....I enjoyed the little "village" area in Falmouth...lots of little shops and restaurants and bars....I realize this is not "real" Jamaica.....and we did venture outside the gates...wow......it was impossible to try and explore on your own without being harassed and followed. That being said, I am sure on a RCI excursions you would avoid most of that. And Jamaica is beautiful and defn has a lot to see and offer.
  14. haha...I really need to start checking out these Periscope postings and start following along!
  15. yeah..And I like the ships that have a bar right in the front of the windjammer...super convenient and usually quicker then waiting to be served when I am in the MDR. Maybe the next cruise will be different! :)
  16. I had to agree that the one area that seems to be lacking in the MDR is the drink service. If you don't ask, often they wont ask you is my experience. I always now as soon as I sit down let them know what I want to drink...as it seems it always takes awhile to get it. Same for dessert drinks or coffee...I always enjoy a baileys/coffee so I ask them when they bring the dessert menu over before they take the dessert order as if I wait till then, chances are I will be done my dessert before my coffee gets to me. Live and learn I guess! But as for the food service and quality in the MDR....yet to have an issue or complaint.
  17. Never used the food or drinks in 9 cruises...and the fridge really doesn't keep anything cold...waste of space for sure.
  18. Hi Sharon........ Yes, when you get off the ship there is a "customs" that you have to go through, but everyone does and there is really not much to it...just fill out a declaration card...no x-ray machines or scanners or anything. Then of course you will clear customs once back in Canada at the airport and off the plane. It's a mad show the morning back in port on the ship...hard to find a table or seat to eat breakfast, long lines everywhere....elevators don't even think about trying to use them. After dealing with the craziness for a cruise or two, I now do the self check out every time....no waiting for or trying to find your luggage that way once off the ship either as you take it with you. Much easier!
  19. triangle hash browns are one of the things I look forward to for breakfast!!.....I think they are good...way better than their scrambled eggs. I am trying to picture the breakfast menu that hangs from your door though, and I can't remember they had options for bacon and hashbrowns and those type of things?
  20. I didn't think you could buy from the store to bring to the room..seeing as RCI charges you $40 for a 375ml bottle of rum to have in your room.....you would be stupid to do that if you could go buy a 40oz of rum for $25 in the store... Am I missing something here?
  21. Haha...that was my thoughts exactly when I first read this...I am pretty SURE that RCI didn't want some 3rd party company releasing the name out there.....
  22. St. Maarten...make sure you check out the beach where the airplanes land overhead....its on my bucket list of things to do...just never made it yet!
  23. There last deal was pretty good...along with the 30% off...they had reduced deposits by50%....as well as onboard credits of up to $100 as well as instant savings off at booking..... As far as sale options for RCI, it wont get much better than that. Of course, all of that doesn't matter if they have raised the base cost of the cruise before the "sale", which of course they would never do.... :D
  24. I have to try those partysmart pills..would be a godsend with the drink package consumption I do on a cruise...... Wonder if they are only on amazon or if you can buy them in stores/pharmacy anywhere? have never seen or heard of them in Canada. They are more than double the price to order them on Amazon Canada......grrrrrr More on topic, I bring a big Ziploc bag with all the little meds and toiletry things u can think of. I am used to travelling to Cuba for vacations where you could buy NONE of that stuff, so u had to bring it with you each time. As a result, I have gotten pretty good at brining almost anything you can think of you may need for sickness, injuries etc without taking up too much space!
  25. I always do the self walk off now...and as long as there are no delays for weather/mechanical problems...no reason you cant be off by 8am if you are trying to plan something and being realistic. However, please keep in mind that Tampa can often have fog issues..which can delay by hours easily..and sometimes day/days.......
