So, like hydrogen, ammonia has great potential, but we're many years from it being practical.
Unless you just put a bunch of thirsty cats on board ship, you'll get plenty of ammonia in no time.

Srp431 reacted to RockerDom31 in TA charges for cancellation?
Once upon a time, we had a travel agent from a local travel agency who we used for our honeymoon, anniversary trip, and first Royal cruise. Nothing went wrong so there were no complaints. Service was okay but questionable at times.
Then Covid hit, and all of the sudden, there were consultation fees (for putting together a quote), cancellation fees, and change fees (for changing cabins, dates, or re-pricing). For two of us, we had to pay a $300 cancellation fee for our Covid-canceled cruise of 2021 (which was clearly not our fault).
We left that travel agency and switched to MEI-Travel. We are much happier with the service and no-fee structure with MEI.
Shoutout to Daniel Wanderman at MEI for being an awesome TA!

Time for a new TA if you have a TA that charges for anything above and beyond what the cruise line charges.

Welcome to the message boards
This is not Royal Caribbean's fault. The "fault" lays with yourself for not paying closer attention to the exact cabin category you picked. If you booked with a travel agent, perhaps your agent could have explained it better.
If you booked a guarantee cabin, then that's the luck that comes with those sort of cabins.
I don't see any correlation between your Crown and Anchor status and the cabin you chose at the time of booking. The choice of cabin comes down to the guest, and if you did go for a guarantee, cabin assignment has nothing to do with loyalty status.

Massages today were good. It was slightly jarring when in the middle of the session, the cruise director came on to remind people to finish the muster stuff, which apparently they did, because two minutes later they played the sound and did all that stuff.
Thankfully the hard sell of products really didn’t happen, and we got out of there quickly.
luggage was delivered quickly, and we were able get unpacked, and were on the balcony for sail away.
I like big butts and I cannot lie…
I still think the front of this ship looks ugly
So long Miami!

“They” didn’t separate your family….you did by not selecting your cabins. If having cabins next to each other was important, why didn’t you just choose 2 that were next to each other. Trying to save a buck with GTY isn’t a good way to accomplish what you are wanting.

Srp431 reacted to GregD in Independence from responsibilities...Aug 24-29 Western Caribbean and Perfect Day
Let me start with saying sorry for this long and rambling first few posts, but there is a lot to unpack here...
I've been struggling on how to start this one, because it's been a rough month here at home. Our beloved pooch Rusty had been having some health issues, so that was taking most of our focus. I couldn't keep up with my usual pre-cruise routine of reading and being very active in the blogs as much as I wanted, which usually gets my excitement up. I even had the thought that we might have to cancel, so that kept the usual build up at bay too. Sadly we had to say goodby to him on Tuesday. Today I am turning my focus forward. I am ready to shed the responsibilities of adulting, hence the title. It will be good to get away, and reset.... More on that later.
For now, rest easy my friend, until we meet again...
So now that the sad part is taken care of, how did we get here. For that we have to go back to our February of 2023, Oasis of the Seas cruise. I had created the Facebook group for that cruise, and it was a lively and active group. With that I ran a couple slot pulls. We didn't win anything, but there was quite a bit of money fed into a machine. Ever since, I've been getting mailings from the Casino. This was one of the offerings. It was for a free outside view room for me, and reduced 2nd passenger rate. I talked it over with @TheBoss518 and we said let's do it.
We are going without the freeloaders, so that's another responsibility shed too. We had been looking for an opportunity for just the two of us to sail too. We were supposed to sail a B2B on Freedom in the RS earlier this year in April, but that got cancelled because one of the legs got chartered, and with The Boss getting a promotion it just wasn't the right time. Our amazing TA, IYKYK, was able to get us out of the other leg with no penalty. While and OV view room isn't anywhere close to the RS, we had a plan......

I'm a moderator on another board (unrelated to cruising). We have the ability to block/ban IP addresses from creating accounts. If multiple one and done accounts are from the same IP, just block the IP.

I have only ever seen them in the lounges (Crown and Suite) and given as "gifts" for being in a suite or ranking on the C&A ladder.

I'm a big fan of the chicken bacon jalapeno one. My meal there is basically chips n guac, 3-4 orders of that as my main, an entree I wind up not liking, and churros.
Good margaritas too but they became less noteworthy to me as Royal started adding more and more interesting margaritas at other venues.

I love the queso fundido at Sabor but I’m not sure they even have it on the menu anymore.

Sabor has amazing guac and the churros can be pretty good as well. Everything else is a meh.

Srp431 reacted to Mike n Ky in Travel Agent vs. Next Cruise?
When we book at Next they confirm the travel agent we use and include her on the booking. The last booking we did had to be changed a few weeks after and our TA contacted RC and took care of it. Our TA encourages using Next for the lower down payment and onboard credit then she takes care of the rest.

All replies to that indicated it was just someone looking for attention.
Besides what are beef bugs?

The arcade credit isn't worth it. The arcade tends to have half the games broken and half the games ones that no one wants to play.

Srp431 reacted to AndrewOfTheSeas in Crown and Anchor Benefits for Children
Hello all,
Apologies if something like this has been posted in the past, I have a look but still unsure…
Do children with status get all the benefits such as the 50% off beer/wine?
or do they ONLY get the youth benefits? (Even when they have their own points, not piggybacking off the family same points thing).
I ask because my son (5 years old) is close to diamond whereas I am lagging behind in Emerald, and he’ll soon be in the level above me, so will have a load of benefits he’s achieved…if he’s allowed to use them…
Thanks all.

Srp431 reacted to Fastfaller in How early must I check-in to get the earliest Arrival Time at the Terminal? (Sailing Icon OTS)
Honestly, checkin time doesn't matter. Let's say you get a 1pm check in, if you show up at 1030 you will board. They don't check.

Srp431 reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Grand Cayman at a crossroads over cruise traffic
It must be close to elections-time in the Caymans. That article had a political slant to me.
The Caymans have always had a love-hate relationship with cruising. They know they need to have a viable cruise terminal but won’t build one (for reasons which are complex and understandable). So they just go back and forth….

Srp431 reacted to PhillyLady in RC Compassionate family-friendly company??
I feel bad for your situation, but please know that cancer survival rates have increased tremendously. Your SIL's doctors have decided that chemotherapy is the appropriate treatment, and while undergoing this process, it is highly unlikely your SIL will want to travel anyway. You will probably not be directly involved with her treatments, either, unless you are personally driving her back and forth to the chemotherapy appointments.
Also, it is not clear how long she will be in treatment, or when she will feel healthy enough to travel, so how would you know when to reschedule the cruise? The cruise line cannot just give all of you an open date.
Yes, you are perhaps a bit in shock, but you cannot really fault RC, nor should you make your SIL feel bad that the entire trip has to be cancelled.
My advice is that the family should still go on the cruise, as it is only one week or so in travel, just because you may need the break from stress and anxiety. I am not sure who was sharing the room with SIL, but hopefully that person can still go without a rate increase.
And while you are away, thanks to technology, you can give her trip reports, check in on her, buy her some souvenirs, discuss the cruise experience, etc. I know several people who have had chemotherapy and actually worked the entire time--they were not lying in hospital beds day after day. Please try to be a bit more positive for your SIL's sake, so that she can have confidence while undergoing her treatments.
A cruise is not a once-in-a-lifetime experience anymore, so when SIL feels better, plan ANOTHER cruise. Best wishes.

They certainly cater to food allergies. But special requests just for "I don't like that" they've tended to shy away from.

Srp431 reacted to smokeybandit in What if Star Class amenities were available on Freedom Class ships
They most certainly would pay.
I personally have zero interest in Star class just because the specialty restaurant and genie (and the near obligation to tip a ton) don't interest me. But I'm not everyone.
Sky class is all I need to feel "premium"
