I find myself getting into these philosophical convos with hubby all the time. He likes to consider issues theoretically. I like to solve one concrete instance, then maybe root cause, but not before.

So I wanted some closure on that concrete OP question. Having that, I'll step away while y'all work out the theory. Seriously, no judgement. Hubby is over here talking about the war in Ukraine right now. I need to find a different post on here to engage in. Love this site!

MisterZ and I call this the "What If..." game. He loves it, me not so much 😄 😄

  2. It's just as likely to be far less nefarious than you all are suggesting.

Airlines oversell, certainly. But I can tell you that a surprising non-zero number of times there was a different reason for a denied boarding. Like someone on the prior flight peed on the seat and the whole row had to be removed from inventory. Or someone stole the seatbelts in a row and there were no spares, so those seats were unusable. (I have more stories -- 14 years as a front-line airline employee!)

Could just be that Allure is aging and there are plumbing issues or electrical problems or whatever, that the onboard maintenance team is struggling to get under control. So some sailings have a block of cabins that are unusable for whatever reason.

I find there are far fewer complex plots and way more examples of general incompetence in the world. Everywhere.

Thank you for the answers. I’m the only one of my family that likes seafood and sushi. Can anybody recommend something off the 2023 menu for izumi that the family may like or they would highly recommend

Welcome to the boards! Izumi has a number of non-sushi choices, like ramen, gyoza, and teriyaki. I don’t eat sushi and I never have trouble filling up at Izumi.

Rebooking has been available for month or more and yes now there are only interior or oceanview remaining.  Those who acted fast were able to stay in levels they first booked.  In some cases those were interior or oceanview.

Yes you can get a lot of amenities as World cruiser and when it was a World cruise everyone paid for those needed or not.  But it is no longer a World cruise, it is 17 cruises and now you do not have to pay increased fare price for amenities you do not need and save thousands.  Those emenities were never free they were priced in fare paid.  Passengers for past 1 -1/2 years had one booking number for World but that has now gone away and everyone now is booked on 17 cruises and each cruise with a separate booking number.  Problem is due to World only selling about half of cabins and the other half now get to sail al a carte as normal.

Don't forget the shore excursions that are included for the World cruisers. None are included for the segment purchasers.

  5. Barbados didn't used to do VAT refunds at all. Not sure if that's still true, but since you get a "web page not found" error on the Barbados tax site when you try to look up VAT I'm guessing you didn't miss anything! 😄

Haven't been able to find this anywhere. I see reservations are available for Hooked on Navigator of the Seas for lunch.  I can't find a lunch menu though, and its not available in app.  Anyone able to get one for me?

If you change to the current Nav sailing in the app, you can see the menu on Day 4

    Hi all -

I know we are still quite a ways out  for this cruise, but I am still not seeing anything dining related in the Cruise planner.  When have you all seen 3 night dining package etc  appear in your cruise planner?

    TIA.

I think Royal is a bit delayed with the dining on these holiday cruises. Likely figuring out the special holiday meal prices. I have the same problem with my Allure sailing over Christmas and New Years. Just keep checking!

My Liberty Sailing in July has Both Giovanni's and Chops with Lunch specials that just dropped in price, how does that work? do I have to go and make a reservation when we get onboard or do we just show up at Lunch  time???

    Thanks

    Rob

If you buy them in the planner ahead, you pick your date and reservation time just like for dinners.

I just found out the Norway only uses the Krone as currency. Just wondering if anyone has been to Norway that can give advice. We will be taking an excursion or 2 and usually tip the driver. I have some Euros and of course US money but really don't have access to getting a small amount of Krones. So any ideas how to deal with this?

Welcome to the boards! I cruised to Norway last summer. We got some Krone in the airport upon arrival in Amsterdam.

I can confirm that the excursion guides/drivers were willing to accept both euros and US dollars as well. Just remember that they will lose some amount in the exchange to usable currency so maybe adjust your tip up accordingly.

All COVID testing requirements and entry restrictions for Canada were lifted back in October 2022.

Yes, except Royal is requiring a test specifically for the Hawaii-to-Canada cruises.

So for the OP, you will need to take a test. Easiest to use a self-test and present a photo at boarding.

Anyone have any thoughts on british night,  which is tomorrow night for this cruise? There's like 4 things I want to try

The leek & potato soup was good, as was the roast beef. The sticky toffee pudding was decent although not very authentic.

We have hiked in "remote" trails in the Tetons and Yellowstone and carried bear spray.  Park Rangers did not require it but strongly encouraged it and provided training.  We are going up to Denali and other parts for a week and will carry it.  We will hike in ports like Skagway and Ketchikan.  Hiking with "a million of your best friends" is not our idea of adventure.  Do we we need bear spray if we are hiking on our own?  Can we turn in the bear spray for safe keeping when we embark and retrieve it at the ports and then hand it back when we get back on?  We want to follow the rules, but also be safe when hiking.

    Thanks in advance.

Since pepper spray is prohibited to bring onboard I'm going to guess bear spray will be as well.
