This is tragic. The first video I saw clearly showed the ship losing electrical power twice. But it looked to me like she was already not in the channel. I suspect the cascade of events goes back before the power outages seen on the bridge webcam. 

It's a nightmare scenario for everyone involved. There will likely be pressure to clear the debris and open the channel as quickly as possible. I hope they don't do that until they've recovered every person possible. Their families deserve that.

Ha!!  Wife and I like to watch the evening network news.  SO MANY ads for medications we're to ask our doctor about!  Meds for memory, for heart, for elevated A1C, for eyes, for crooked you-know-whats.  Just last night we said something about how it must just be us "old people" who watch the 5:30 pm news because they sure are targeting us with all these ads.  Another reason to turn off the news, I guess!

i was trying to do the math here — and bear with me because i’m not so great on math in general 😂 — so it’s an additional $2 increase per day - let’s say a week long cruise - an extra $14 difference. for me that’s a drink while on board. 
hot take, but — i personally am okay with this, especially since the crew work so unbelievably hard + passengers by and large have gotten increasingly more difficult, as many of us have personally observed. 💚
whether you elect to tip on top of that or not is a personal choice (i am not advocating one way or the other) but i am grateful to be in a position where this would not be a fiscal deterrent for me. 💚
