  1. I don't remember how it worked - I know we were looking for 5-star hotels in the port area and we ended up with Kimpton (twice) - I don' tthink we paid more than $180/night though, either time.
  2. Kimpton Epic - very close to Bayside Market and the port - short Uber or Lyft ride. Beautiful hotel. I believe all rooms have a balcony (every room I've been in has had one).
  3. I think it started with Josh and @12thman upped the ante, lol.
  4. This is the layout according to CruiseDeckPlans for that room. It looks like it'll be a pull out sofa.
  5. I'm hoping (assuming) they have this all ironed out by my first cruise in October. (How's that for a noncommittal answer?)
  6. Live footage of her arriving in Galveston (so this view is only good for a little while here, lol) https://www.cruisin.me/cruise-port-webcams/united-states/galveston-texas3/
  7. No, it's a Google Map photo - they are rarely very recent. You can see it yourself if you go to Cadiz on Google Maps.
  8. It's Oasis (probably getting her amplification?). I did a 3D Google View and can see the name on the back of the ship. There's no Ultimate Abyss, though, so definitely pre-amp.
  9. The RCL site has Independence sailing in the eastern Caribbean, and only Liberty and Explorer scheduled to be sailing from Galveston in July. I've been watching Independence sail from Miami towards Galveston all night now. Or did I embarrassingly miss a memo? Test cruises? Also .... where's @twangster been?
  10. Crying was my answer, too. I've already prewarned Mr. SpeedNoodles.
  11. Cycling in Skagway. They towed the bikes and people up the Klondike Highway, just into Canada, and then we cycled down. And by cycled I mean coasted. It was not a workout, but it was beautiful - we had stops along the way to take photos or admire. Highly recommended, and we might just do it again. 2nd favorite was ATVing in San Juan. That was tons of fun as well (and muddy!).
  12. We always bring packaged protein or meal bar off of the ship in case we get stuck somewhere without food (nobody wants to see me hangry). Don't try to bring a cup of coffee off of the ship. Doesn't matter how full or hot it is - you'll have to throw it out or drink it fast before they'll let you off (happened in Alaska).
  13. According to MarineTraffic.com, Radiance is headed to Anchorage.
  14. This has been something I've experienced occasionally for years. The first time I panicked. Now I just give it an hour and it self corrects.
  15. My favorite feature is the "switch cruises" feature. It's a pain to do so on the old format (how many pages did I already look at so how many times do I need to press the "back" icon??).
  16. DId this reporter take a marijuana? "The CDC relaxed its rules on cruising in October — too late to rescue 2020’s Alaska cruise season, which generally runs from May until September. But cruising has slowly resumed in places like Florida and Southern California. " Wait...WHAT??? https://www.seattletimes.com/business/senate-passes-bill-to-lift-restrictions-on-seattle-to-alaska-cruises/?utm_source=marketingcloud&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=TSA_051421034317+Seattle-to-Alaska+cruises+inch+closer+to+restarting_5_13_2021&utm_term=Active subscriber
  17. According to the article, the cancelation was announced to crew over the PA system, and is due to the conflict, although I guess at this point it's still considered hearsay. http://crew-center.com/odyssey-seas-israel-season-cancelled?fbclid=IwAR1VjruU1f-hU0BoaNeQj__z9hFWJ-LTt5S8uqs4wLNZdH5yjsIRoBpwao4
