  1. That's what I'm thinking as well. It's been said all along that the start-up is going to be an ease into cruising. It isn't like a switch is going to flip and everyone with a cruise scheduled is going to be able to take that cruise. There will be redeployment of ships and revised itineraries as things start up. Not only does Royal have to play nice with the CDC, but they have to play nice with the other countries on the cruise itineraries and meet their requirements to port there which we already know they've done with the Bahamas. They'll keep the cruises short and not too far from the US to start with. They'll want to make sure things with their supply chain are running smoothly.
  2. I believe that's just empty space there because the pools on the pool deck at above them, which probably eats into the space where rooms would be.
  3. Customer service pre-cruise pales in comparison to the service received on a ship. Along with all the inconsistency and IT issues I can absolutely see how this deters new customers away from sailing with Royal Caribbean.
  4. RE: The Seapass card problem Basically if you book someone in a different room than the one you want them to actually stay in, you can go to Guest Services and get a room key that gives access to the room they will be staying in. This can be helpful if you are doing something such as booking a four person family in two rooms and you officially book it as one child, one adult in each room. You want the kids to have their own room, but splitting up the adults on the booking between the two rooms will allow one adult to purchase the alcohol drink package without the requirement of the other adult to purchase it (rule is all adults have to purchase the alcohol drink package). When you get on board you can just get the extra room keys and switch up the sleeping arrangements as necessary.
  5. When it comes down to switching out names, you can make those changes without an issue with both nonrefundable and refundable deposits. The only rule Royal has is that one of the originally booked passengers has to remain on the cruise. You can swap out the names on the other passengers. Any deposit money put down stays with the cruise booking.
  6. Ugh..using the same narrative as back in 2020 as if things haven't changed with respect to what we know and understand about the virus. If they equally applied this across all industries nothing would have reopened.
  7. Did yours have the name of the test manufacturer anywhere? Aruba had a list of the saliva-based ones that they wouldn't accept.
  8. I have never seen it reported anywhere that those have bigger balconies. I can tell from looking at photos of the opposite end, that it's a solid wall without an extended balcony (the 175 and 575 rooms). I haven't found any photos of the other end to really look at it.
  9. It doesn't really have anything to do with the shape. When you look at the 229 and 629 rooms, you'll see that they neighbor a large white space on the deck plan. That's the living wall in Central Park. However immediately next to these cabins is a storage area and the extended balcony that those rooms have are the balcony portion of the storage area. The rooms on the other side (255 and 655) do not have this same setup. Here's photos from my balcony on Allure 10229 or 10629..can't remember which one I had.
  10. You do not book dining for the Ultimate Dining Package online. You can only book the specialty restaurants once you are onboard. The dining time that you were forced to chose to purchase the package has no bearing on what will be available to you as dining times for reservations.
  11. Port fees tend to fluctuate depending on date. You always have to pay the current port fees established for your sail date.
  12. Ah dangit..it is Harmony for me. Doh.
  13. Me too..deck 17 *takeover??? ?
  14. South Beach is a quieter part of the island. It is also further from most of the amenities on the island (pool/buffet). So if you are looking for quiet away from activity, go with South Beach. The water in also pretty shallow on that side with a sandbar where you can walk out quite a ways.
  15. Notarized letter signed by both parents giving permission for you to take the minor child out of the country. While you are doing that, also make sure you get another letter for the medical power of attorney suggested below. If there aren't two parents involved for some reason, you want the documentation trail to prove that.
  16. If they do offer it, you have to take the 125% FCC in order to be eligible to opt-in for the Cruise Planner 125%. They aren't tied to each other but you can't get a cash refund for the cruisefare and also get the 125% onboard credit.
  17. I like it because I get 2 days off for Thanksgiving from work, so to book that week I only use up 3 vacation days. There are more kids because of this but not as many as the other school holidays. Royal does little Thanksgiving activities and has a MDR Thanksgiving meal. Sometimes they start decorating for Christmas at the end of the week too so you see some of the decorations. It's still warm enough to enjoy the time outdoors but not oppressingly hot like a summer cruise.
  18. Heyyyy...looks a lot like mine..cept add: January 2022: Harmony* April 2022: Oasis (placeholder til I decide to move the deposit elsewhere) Contemplating a 2-night Indy sailing end of January 2022..3 cruises in a month isn't too much, right? ?
  19. Yes. Cruise planner purchases will not move to a different cruise unfortunately.
  20. My guess was they would cancel the Anthem itineraries and maybe use Anthem as the UK domestic cruise option. I am not familiar with the potential UK ports and whether they all could take a ship as large as Anthem, though.
  21. I don't know as I didn't experience it. At the airport they had a point of separation for folks that successfully had their health visas with the negative tests and then those that needed testing. It was my understanding that the testers had to report where they were staying and they were required to go there immediately and quarantine until they received their results. From Aruba's website:
  22. Hooray for the internet..is this the guy? Steve Duell: http://www.onebusyguy.com/initial.htm
  23. I did my testing for Walgreens for my trip to Aruba at the end of January. Aruba required proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours prior to entry. While Walgreens stated it was likely a 48-72 hour turnaround for the test results I ended up getting the results in a little over 24 hours. Walgreens didn't charge for the test and it was a PCR nasal swab that you administered yourself in the pharmacy drive-thru. Basically when I took the test I had to just cross my fingers that I got the results in time and that they were negative. Really doesn't give you much leeway to schedule a backup test. Absolute worst case scenario is Aruba had testing at the airport, but then you have to quarantine in place until you receive the results.
  24. Oh no! I hope you don't lose your precious paragraphs! Maybe they are diluting them to sentences only ?
  25. That's where it gets complicated since if you cancel before final payment (and if Royal doesn't cancel before then) then you end up with 10 FCCs in all those family members' names that have to be used by the CWC specified time frame (book by April 30th, 2022 and sail by September 30th, 2022). That's a lot of money to be tied up until you get the refund!
