  1. Yup. I always laugh at that and tip them anyways. They have the big luggage crates sitting right there and they're just throwing your bag on top of the pile. I guess the bigger the tip the more gentle they are? Who knows ?
  2. For 13 days, I wouldn't chance that since the certified copies of the birth certificates have to be sent in to get the passport..and they're also needed to board the ship.
  3. Did the no show get refunded the port fees and taxes? If that didn't happen, they are entitled to that refund as well as the double points. I would have him push the issue until that gets taken care of.
  4. You drive into the parking garage and they will direct you to the luggage drop off. You stop the car and unload the luggage. The crates that they put the luggage in are right there and you watch the porter walk 2 feet with your luggage to put it on the cart. ? Then you're supposed circle around to go park if you are parking, otherwise you just drive straight out the garage exit.
  5. Everyone needs to download the Royal Caribbean app to their smartphone. Once you're on the ship they just connect to the ship's wifi and the chat will be available through the app. It allows you to send messages to other passengers onboard the ship. You have to know the passenger's legal first and last names to find them to add them to your list of chat users. There's a pretty good explanation of how it works here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2019/04/10/royal-caribbean-adds-group-chat-feature-app Sometimes the app isn't great about letting you know there are waiting messages, so you'll have to open up the app and check it every once in a while. But it's a good option on Harmony and Allure if you have people who aren't opting to purchase the VOOM online internet package.
  6. It's done really, really well if you are into the space stuff. There's lots of exhibits -- enough to keep you busy for the entire day, and a bus tour that even takes you out to see the launch pads and vehicle assembly buildings that they used. Tons of interactive stuff too with hands on exhibits and experiences. It's educational and fun and a good use of the day if you really don't have anything else you want to do during that stop, IMO.
  7. https://www.facebook.com/oldestaterums/ They host liquor tastings at various places. You may want to contact them directly to see if they know of the types of liquor stores you are seeking out. I know there were plenty liquor stores over at the Havensight pier area, but the Crown Bay pier that Royal uses requires transportation to get over there.
  8. I know I've seen President on the ships before before but I can't recall what they had on Oasis.
  9. The rule only applies to the Deluxe (alcohol) drink package and the rule is that everyone over the age of 21 in a cabin must purchase it. So in your case, yes you can purchase the Deluxe package and no one else is required to have one.
  10. Yes, they will have excursions available on the land tour. You will get the list the first night. @CGTLH may have a copy of the excursion list from our 8A cruisetour from 2014 for you to get an idea of what's offered. That cabin nite thing sounds familiar to me..I'm pretty sure it's one of the offerings.
  11. It really just means you have already checked in and can go straight to walking on the ship without having to speak to anyone. It's only available if you scanned your passport through the app and uploaded a photo. In all honesty they have streamlined check in to where it only saves you a few minutes over those folks that didn't get Expedited Boarding. You can arrive whenever you want; Royal does not enforce the boarding times. Typically you can get into the terminals as early as 10-10:30am.
  12. My interpretation is that Delta changed flight times on the first leg of her trip that didn't allow for enough of a connection time to make the next flight. But they didn't automatically switch her to a new flight for that second leg and she had to call them and get it done herself. They weren't able to confirm her in First Class for the rescheduled second leg.
  13. http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net/cozumel-jeep-tour.html Cozumel Cruise Excursions does private jeep tours. You may want to consider that over renting yourself..you will still be a private group and can dictate where you go but you'll have someone else driving that's familiar with the area, especially when it comes to things like informal traffic etiquette. Also absolves you of a potential situation if you get in an accident in your rental and the rental agency demands payment right then for any damages.
  14. I think it may just be the ships where they've configured into the new Ocean Adventure area which is more of a big room over having the groups broken down more. From what I've heard, though, the teen activities are a little less structured than for the younger set. The teens use the teen area as a meet up and hangout and while an older kid (but too young for the teen group) may not be able to access that area, they can certainly benefit from your older one making friends there..the teens tend to group up and go hang out all over the ship together. I see it on all of my cruises. From the Cruise Compass archive, Anthem still had the teens group being ages 12-17: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/anthem-of-the-seas/thu-2019-07-04-0000-0
  15. Oh yes..the headline links to the other "articles" are hilarious. The articles gave me a laugh as well..excellent cruise satire.
  16. We experienced this with Hurricane Dorian last year. If the airline isn't offering relief from change fees and fare differences on their own accord, just mention Royal Caribbean and they may waive it. In our situation the airline was waiving the change fees for everyone but we were still subject to the fare differences but when we mentioned Royal Caribbean they changed our flights at zero out of pocket costs to accommodate our new plans.

Unless otherwise noted, they can only be booked on Monday following the Thursday they are posted. They are not available after that time and are subject to change by the cruise line at any time. This Sales Event they are referring to..maybe the Going, Going, Gone rates? http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Multi_Dest/Special_Offers/rci_sales_event.pdf It does state "up to 25%" and you know how Royal Math is. I priced out the very first price on the list at the current rate (OV) and the $599 they have listed is less than the $694 I'm getting from the website..it's not quite a 25% discount, but there is one.
  18. Should still be in play! You can check at: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade
  19. Freedom's is getting removed during her AMPlification and being replaced by a library/card room. Liberty has one..but may lose it when she gets AMPed. Explorer has one but it will become the Diamond Lounge when she gets AMPed.
  20. Paperwork is crucial for any kind of insurance claim. So so so much paperwork. When you take out a single trip insurance policy they ask you for the amount you are insuring which should be the total of all your travel expenses. This gives them the baseline for your coverage limits. When I went to actually file a claim for my first time ever, I had to substantiate this baseline. That meant I had to prove how much I had paid for the trip..all of the invoices, receipts, credit card statements, etc had to be pieced together. Then there's all the paperwork to document your reason for filing the claim. And then you actually have to show how much you are out of pocket, etc. I had over 70 pages submitted with my claim and all we were claiming was that our flight home was cancelled because of a hurricane and we had to pay for a new flight at the last minute. I believe that the cruiseline would refund your cruise fare as a credit for another cruise if they deny you for failing medical screening. Insurance considers that making you whole and they won't reimburse you if you get refunded or credited by the carrier. One thing folks don't realize when it comes to travel insurance is that it's a reimbursement situation. You still have to be able to float the money in the first place in any of these situations. I cringe when people quip, "That's what travel insurance is for!" A lot of the things folks think are covered are not covered, or if they are it's not what they expect (cancel for any reason insurance, for example). Unfortunately folks tend to forego travel insurance for financial reasons which is understandable when you've saved and saved and budgeted for a trip. A lot of those folks don't have the means to be able to front the expenses if something happens. You see it all the time when flights get cancelled for weather and the next flight isn't until the next day. Some folks can't just drop $150-$200 for a last minute hotel so they end up sleeping at the airport.
  21. This really depends on what you are wanting to do in the meantime. Our San Juan departure was 8pm as well but they opened the terminal and started boarding at 10:30, so not as long of a wait as you may think. San Juan airport does have baggage storage for a fee. You could check your bags into that and hop in an taxi/Uber and go explore and then get another ride back to the airport to retrieve your bags and then hop a ride to the port. Basically it will cost you 3 taxi/Uber rides and the cost of the luggage storage (think it was $10 per bag..but don't quote me on that!). Uber from the airport to Old San Juan was $17 with tip for me.
  22. Not sure how old your kids are, but there's actually a pretty impressive kids splash area called Captain Jack's Galleon OUTSIDE of the waterpark that's completely free for use.
  23. I usually type logout.com in the browser when this happens to me and it has a link to sign back in.
