  1. So we've decided this year to cruise from ports close to home and this will result in multiple visits to Bermuda. We were also there in October and visited the zoo and dockyard mostly. One trip we will take the kids to the snorkel beach close by just because it is cheap and close. What are some out of the ordinary things to do in Bermuda either with kids or just as a couple? The tours are so expensive and we really are used to going on our own.
  2. For us a must do in Roatan was the sloths. We went with Daniel Johnson to his place and it was great.
  3. Go to Dunns River Falls in Falmouth. Royal has an excursion that combines it with the caves that hubby and daughter are doing next month. In Cozumel I highly recommend the cooking class at Playa Maya. Not the Salsa and Margarita one but the full meal one. Hubby and I did it and were super happy with it. We've been to Cozumel a lot so we were happy to find a new interesting thing to do.
  4. Most take cash only but there is a Royal shop there and by the water park that uses the sea pass card.
  5. We did get a few free last summer during brunch but not unlimited. But hey they were free.
  6. Last cruise I had to go to the Voom person for my phone. Crazy because I never had a problem before. The guy fixed it in 2 seconds.
  7. You need to cancel 48 hours before because it is considered a shore excursion. If your wife doesn't ride I really think you are wasting your money, IMHO. We did it with kids but wouldn't go just us.
  8. Can you tell me if the beds around the pool are first come first serve or can you reserve those?
  9. I've been on both and do prefer Royal but would still cruise Carnival if the deal was right. I suggest you don't book a cruise to Nassau or Freeport for your first cruise. The Bahamas other than the private RC islands are our least favorite. I would try one that hits Mexico or other Caribbean ports.
  10. We took our shoes off when we got there and didn't put them back on till we left the area but I guess you could put them near the slide exit.
  11. Glad you will have nice weather. We went in November and it was cold and windy the first two days. I love that ship because it has so many indoor areas for cold weather.
  12. The Royal site and a Blog post on here states you will be refunded your cruise fare.
  13. It really is a 'you do you, I'll do me" thing. I'm cheap and my family knows it but I'm cheap so we can use our money to do fun things. We did the water park cabana on our last visit for a family of 5. It was $299. Kids got to do the slides and wave pool which they love and we are in the frozen mountains of PA so none close. Mom and dad got to hang at the cabana and chill out for the day. We told the kids next time we will do the free stuff and they are happy with that. In August hubby and I booked the beach club for $55.99 per person for the two of us. Decent deal we think for the food options and limited people in the area. We wouldn't pay for all 5 of us to do that. For us it all comes down to who is cruising, when we are cruising and if we can find a deal that we feel comfortable with.
  14. That sucks people have asthma and COPD and they will want to travel but have breathing issues daily.
  15. Not until you get a room number. Did you check the cruise planner to see if they assigned them a cabin yet?
  16. The price you got is their "sale" price. The 30% off is off the on board price. The % off doesn't really mean much as Royal has their own math. Buy at a price you are willing to pay then cancel and re-buy if the price goes lower. We've been seeing $57 to $61 for the cruises we have scheduled. 18% gratuity will be added at checkout and each adult in the cabin needs to buy it if purchasing online.
  17. Makes sense and thank you because this could very well apply to my family.
  18. My daughter and I loved the balloon ride. There is a charge but it was worth it. We liked the big buffet in the middle better than the snack shack.
  19. We pick MTD and then make reservation which gives us the same waiters and table each night. Now when we are cruising as a couple we pick MTD and just walk up and wait or by the Unlimited Dining Package.
  20. Our family votes for Giovanni's but we would take Jamie's over Chops. We did Giovanni's on Allure and Jamie's on Anthem. My husband who cruises more than the rest of us has done both on other ships.
  21. Water Park tickets for our January 4th cruise on Grandeur are currently 29.99. Maybe because of the cold weather?
  22. I know different ships do different things for this so I was wondering if anyone has done the cupcake class on the Grandeur. I'm thinking I might take my youngest to do it as a special treat.
  23. We ended up paying $199 for thrill park cabana for our family of 5 for January on Grandeur. That worked out well for us as we like to cabanas for a place out of the sun.
  24. There is a button on the cruise planner to link your cruises so you can reserve for both. We usually have two cabins because we are a family of 5. Use the "Link a missing cruise" button.
